Which 5 Poor Countries Have Best Hospitals for Heart Attacks, Strokes?
I would add South Africa and Cuba to this list, possibly in place of Colombia and Brazil, but definitely in addition to those countries if you expanded to a top ten. I haven't been to Colombia, so couldn't comment specifically compared to other countries, but South Africa and Cuba both have first-rate physicians and medical care. The technology is better in South Africa, due to the effects of the embargo on Cuba, but Cuba has first-rate diagnosticians and often exports their physicians to the rest of Latin America. If you were to expand to the top ten, I'd also propose India and China, although they are such big countries that the care (and the likelihood that a provider can communicate to you in your own language) will be variable depending on where you are in the country.
