What SERENDIPITY Luck, I Found Fresh Food Market Because I Went to Hardware Store in Tours France
Thanks Andy I am interested in visiting France, very informative. I lived in a small town in the Napa Valley and rent out my house there while Im here in Guatemala. First I have to say because I worked at wineries I worked with a lot of peopke from France and in general found them to be very gracious. We, like France , are inundated with tourists. When I was at a winery entertaining tourists putting my arm around an older asian lady so she could take a picture of me with her was part of the job..I am in 3 million Chinese blogs! But off the job if someone were to stick a camera or even worse a video I would disconcerted. Other locals might get pissed even. These market people are on the job and selling you are always friendly to everyone when selling if you want to sell. But thr French have lost a lot of their wine revenue (with the exception of the most expensive) because of their unwillingness to change and react to the world market. Just different cultures of course.
Everyone here has been great, but this is mostly long-term French residents. I remember standing under the Eiffel Tower, or the Champs Elysee, and thing, none of the people are from France, so do not think I am in France, I am inside a tourist bubble. Tourists are not, will not be repeat customers, so many people learn, they do not need to give good service, or be pleasant. Yet, it is hard to be patient with tourist asking all sort of questions, but sort of believing they already understand. I admitted at the end of the video, here I am annoying the locals, but rewarded the girl who was nice by buying. Truly I did not annoy anyone, there is always 5 percent that are never happy. Actually, what is funny, the French become more friendly when a camera is pointed at them, you can see this in videos, they talk to me. Normally, they say nothing, or ignore, but on camera, they do not.
Well now I am even more curious about going therelf. I have heard my whole life how rude French people are and I cant believe it I have never been anywhere where most people were rude but have only been in the Americas.
I do not know of any country where everyone is rude, maybe indifferent. The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference, the urbanization of humans makes them tired, fatigued, they no longer can muster a smile. Generally people are pretty good, mockery is a problem that can grow, but rude from just indifferent people. If we walk into a store, and the person behind the counter is playing on smartphone, and indifferent to our being in the shop. That can be considered rude, but this is pandemic, that has gone viral, that is omnipresent. But, they are not being proactive, they just are not reacting. I am in the Loire Valley, famous for wine. Thanks
I absolute love this fresh fruit markets you always find Andy, it would be nice to have some reference prices all around the world so we can sort of make estimates for longer stays
I agree because a person can pretty much be happy and healthy with the food in the open air food markets without cooking. So many choices and always fun to try talk with the people selling.
