Travel Quiz, What is Wrong With the Computer, Smartphone, and Coffee?
The laptop is poised for a fall. You could easily get your foot snared in the cords and pull the computer off. When the phone rings, you could forget that it's attached and pull the computer off. The coffee is too close, and you could easily knock the cup over and ruin the computer.
Bob has nailed it. Both my computer, and smartphone are one pull away from the concrete floor. The coffee is ready to spill into the keyboard. America has carpets, and in Europe it is not that common to have carpets, we feel safe with a cell phone on the side of bed, but abroad, you can pull a 600 dollar Smartphone onto the concrete in seconds and break it. I store them on the floor,not on a table of chair, they cannot fall from the floor, camera fall off tables, I dropped a camera from Table in Iquitos, Peru. I will only pay 100 USD for a smartphone, they are just too difficult to protect. My computer cost 400 USD, very difficult to protect, and replace. More or less an ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure. I am always amazed at people who have beer bottles to the right of their computers. We are hardwired genetically to hoard, and survival, demonstration of higher value as a mate means we protect our value.
Andy, I had just that happen a few yrs ago with my new Iphone 4s. It was on my nightstand and i fumbled for it in the dark and then really fumbled it onto the floor. maybe 2ft off the ground but it still shattered the screen...talk about a bummer
