Think As If a Traveler in Time, Think History
I find it really amazing this bridge is so empty of cars that people feel safe standing and talking photos in the middle of road. I highly doubt there are any bridges of size that this would be possible in the USA.
It is my theory that, when you have streets that were put in 1000 plus year ago, they did not have good parking. When there is no parking, then people cannot drive cars, and the public transportation is needed. If the cost of having a car in the USA was 2-3 times more, would you use your car less? If in a big city, you may well decide to sell the car. No parking is the problem, None of the building you are seeing on both sides of the road have parking even close for the number of people living in them. Where I am at, it is 3-4 story apartment building, it is hard to find a single family building. The concentration of people is high. All in all, the higher the concentration of people, the less it is like Orland Mom Graham, you really do live in paradise on the planet. But I am in extremely good place, right in the heart of France, in the heart of the city of Tours. The older the country, the older the road, the less parking, the more concentrated the population.
These bridges have a wonderful view where You Are. When we visited the Golden Gate Bridge the first time I was so disappointed. Huge traffic zipping along so fast you could hardy observe anything.
