Sarah Has a Name for My Africa Washing Machine
Hi Andy. I will get round to getting verified as I think this is a great site and I've got lots to learn as well share having lived in Asia for 10 years, Hong Kong exclusively for 8.
Anyway, I loved this video. Hits the nail on the head. It's funny as I was talking to a friend from home about this only just the other day. I don't watch much TV but I've recently been viewing a few shows from back home (Australia). I feel I'd be considered to the far right now when in fact I'm where I always was, centre or slightly left or right of centre.
The thing is the politically correct lobby have now taken over the moral high ground (ironically from the religious they hate) and now they name call with terms such as misogynist or racist or what have you. It's like a rug that's been pulled out from under me, I haven't changed. The point is I'm fine with gay marriage or equality etc but do no shut me down and inhibit my free speech because I happen to offend you by my humor. It's gone crazy in the west and I feel if I went home I'd be hard up against it or considered a dinosaur at 38!
An example was I commented online on an artice about 3 young men who went climbing on Uluru (a large rock in central Australia) and got lost. I should have known better than to comment but people had labled anyone who climbs the rock, which is permitted by law, as a racist because indigenous locals dissuade you from doing so. I simply stated that climbing the rock didn't deem those individuals racists. Well, the hate I received!
Using these terms makes a weak person powerful, by putting the strong on defense, or pull away from any help. I think there is an open debate now about these individuals who call others names. As for Hobo, we do not tolerate name calling, labeling others, etc.
