Sam Asked, Are Religions Good for the World?

AlwaysRt

I agree, in general religion is good, it is the base of many of society's laws and morals. The bad generally comes in when an individual or individuals use the religion as a means of gaining power and distorting it to amplify their will and and gain power over others. This is where the US separation of church and state comes from, to deny religion from taking over the government - not to remove Christmas or a World War I memorial in the shape of a cross from the county courtyard.

One might hold that biology is the base of morals and laws and religion restate the genetic imperative.
