Question, Why Do West Africans Saw Backwards to American Way?
I couldn't find anything on this "technique", my only guess is this is an attempt at mimicking a band saw - a highly in-efficient attempt I would think. Maybe a rip-cut challenge is in order where you "race" him to see the practical difference. Two leg race, 1st a speed test cutting a board, 2nd a duration test to see how long a board or how many boards can be cut without needing to rest.
TEST - Great Idea Steve
1. I cut a board with my foot on the board, while they cut board their method.
a. Test of speed..
b. Test for endurance.
c. Test for quality of cut - this is always number one.
As I wrote this, I realized they neither use saw horses, or vises when they cut a board. Instead they have these tall benches and this makes putting foot on top of board difficult, but make what the boy did possible. I could make some saw horses, and let them try. They do not adapt, or even try new tech, I have never seen a power hand saw here.
