Airline prices, just like governments and NGOs have no basis in logic. They do what they do for many other reasons. Another example, I priced flying from Fairbanks to Manila (and from Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, LA). Purchasing a flight with a layover in Hong Kong cost $300 more than purchasing a flight to Hong Kong and a separate flight to Manila. This is why I am spending a month in Hong Kong, the airline has "paid me" $300 to stop there so why not? Logic does not apply, research does. Not days/weeks/months, 2 hours research saved me $300.
Thats crazy. Like Andy says it's easier to save money than earn money, well done. Pays to think outside the box.
To get great airfares requires patience that only 1 in 100 people have. The USA culture of quickness, and never wasting any time sabotages good decisions. Everyone wants a review to tell them, instead of being the one who finds the good deal. It is hard work to learn ,about the same a learning a language, learning the language of airfares is diligence, and persistence. There are still Travel Agents that know who to do this stuff. I now pay Jeroen 100 dollars four times per year to find me good deals, he finds great one 50 percent of the time, and me 50 percent. This one was told to me by Jeroen, He is a wiz, but refuses to talk until paid. Right now, I am only going to connect people who pay me consulting fees with Jeroen. I will be the Doctor, that can send people to the specialists. We both love helping people, but again, it is the USA, Europe culture of refusing to think, wanting click and play that is the biggest problem, good things in life require work. What I describe in the video is just a strategy, the way to explain it, it to say the airline, so people can prove themselves that we indeed can do what we say we do.
