English Words are Trendy in France
Some of the English words you tried to show ate obscured by your titles., otherwise, it is an interesting video, did the store owners who used the English words actually speak English?
Do the people inside the business speak English? I would say "No." This is just a trendy ways of saying, "Yes, I studied English, I am not stupid." Buy my product, because we are part of the smart group. I see patterns, I see movements, I see repetitions, and I try to document by taking videos. Maybe, we could call this, I like to document mostly trivial observations with my camera. My theory, or guess is this, this is like saying, "Buenas Dias." to a group of friends. By dropping a couple of Spanish Words, or saying "Bonjour," we gain social credit, or status. Sort of a one upmanship way of saying, I know something. I asked a few French speaking youth, and they are like Africans, even Spanish speakers. They no longer see English as a want, they say, "I need to learn English." And, for the French, or any person on the planet that wishes to travel, he or she needs to learn English. Like a Plane Pilot, or International business person, to not speak English would make it almost impossible to work. The Chinese need to learn English to sell their products to the Western cultures. I see University professors types do this continually. Bottom line, the whole world is learning English, it has move up from a want, to a need. As for me, at this juncture in my understanding of global politics, if an advisor, or Ambassador, or expert on anything International does not speak a foreign language or two, I would say, "They are not an expert," They are a wanna be. Understanding of other cultures requires language skills. Some extremely well read people cannot be diligent enough to learn something that requires work.
I really think we should require at least one foreign language to be mastered before graduating high school in the US. I think it would also help students to learn more about English by learning another language.
