TOP 10 TRAVEL WEBSITES FOR 2002 - A year in review.
My List by Andy the HoboTraveler.com - December 28, 2002 and published from an internet cafe  in Luang Prabang, Laos. Newsletter number 103 of Hobo Travel Tips.
Year 6.

Hello,
I am out here in the middle of the road. Not at home, not on some desktop computer, not at work, and I am positive not at the University library. I need fast help and information, and not just pretty pages. I often find my answers in the internet cafe with an owner that does not speak English for about 75 Cents US per hour on the other side of the planet.

These are my choices for 2002 of websites or pages needed and are a great help to me a world traveler... a.k.a.

How much is a cheap room in Katmandu, Nepal? A search engine of "Budget Hotels" for the world that allows you to make reservations with the cheap sleeps. I do caution the reader to not just make reservations with just any and all "Hostels-Hotels." The underdeveloped countries have problems with reservations. This site will help the small hotel compete with the large chains. Keep you eye on this site.

I recommend you start with National Geographic maps, and than do a search in the Google.com. for the specific map for your destination.

This is a site to find newsletters to subscribe to, or a place to publish your personal newsletter. Newsletters are the easiest and best way to research a subject. A good newsletter will collect and give you digested materials. With what is NEW or News inside the letter. Topica.com is my choice and helps me avoid getting spam. Yahoogroups.com is a good source also and worth mentioning, but Topica.com is my favorite. I use Topica.com for my travel newsletters, but also have some mirrors in Yahoogroups.com.

Last years page 2001-2002
I will update this page at the end of the year with the page I have discovered and they will remain for the current year from 2003-2004.

MENTIONED:
Lots of the mentioned sites are failing desperately. The are becoming sites that only sell and do not help. They have a real need to make money to survive. Look for lots of large sites to close their doors.. But I am sure that some will come to grips and go upstairs. Look at the reader forums, they can be helpful but use up a lot of time in internet cafe. Good to use before you leave home.
