PLAN YOUR WORK,
AND
WORK YOUR PLAN
I am in the south of Germany close to some Lake
Constance and I have no idea if I am spelling that right,
but the village of Seitingen is absolutely beautiful,
idyllic, cheerful, and nestled in a world of colors and
freshness, a place that is really better than other places.
Totally an accident I am here in the middle of rural
German Culture and just because I met a nice German
girl in Ecuador and went to visit, not to see the place,
but to see the person, because to me people are more
important than places.
So what do you think? Plan you work, and work you plan.
What does that have to do with travel and vacations?
NOTHING
Planning you work, is for �Work.�
I apologize for getting very harsh on Europe, and it is
a beautiful place, but they want me to work, and I
refuse to work to travel, as I am on a permanent
vacation from the Western Cultures desire to have
ever minute of every day scheduled. I will not schedule
my free time, which for me is all the time, so when
I have to get a reservation, read and study my guidebook
or possibly get on the wrong train, or make a mistake
that could cost me hundreds of dollars I call that work.
The theory of Western World is...
"Tip even when the service is bad."
"Say it is better life, even when the life is bad."
"All poor countries are lesser people and they live horrible."
I do not make money from you reading this newsletter
and there is no need for me to be nice or mean, but
just my inherent desire to tell you the truth of what is up.
There is always a temptation to edit, remove my thoughts,
and change them so the majority will agree or like me, but
I know you do not like me anyway, you are just reading this
letter because it gives you amusement. Some say they
live vicariously through me, but then complain when
it gets a little tough, or I am not totally happy.
But� I do NOT like parts of the USA and European cultures
that says, we must be organized, we must plan, we
must have money to be happy, we must try to be smarter,
we must compete. I go home and nobody has time to
talk because they are too busy, and Europe is just
the same, everyone is so stressed out they cannot
smell the roses.
So I tell you how I feel and how I think hope some of
you help with solutions, or point me in the directions
of solutions, and others of you want me to just shut
up and tell you the western world is perfect.
HOPE
I am in the middle of nowhere with not enough money
to pay for Health Insurance, that is my choice, but
there is hope that you enjoy my letters and look at
the pictures, keep yourself safe with a few tips, but
I also look to my readers for answers, and people like
Chris, Bruce, Dave, Mike and many other send me ideas
and this is good, other tell me how I do not know how
to travel.
I have spent some 6 months of my life in Europe, and
it is too much work me. The reason to travel the world
is to take advantage that I have an American Passport
and the disparity between the money I can earn in the
USA and the cost of other countries is great enough
that I could work one month a year and live in places
like Guatemala.
I make my website to help me, to collect the information
to help myself, I do not put information on the pages
that sells tours or mislead you towards a bad deal.
I try to give guidelines. I believe that I should only
promote things that I would buy, and tell you what I
would not do.
So because I refuse to plan every minute of every
day then Europe and the USA are not the best places
for travel.
This is my experiment of living without borders.
I need to recoup, so I return to Southeast Asia to
to
do fun things with no plan, try to regroup my money
so I can afford in the future another attempt at
traveling in Europe when I can figure out a solution to
these Western Value systems, it does make them or
us rich, but also crazy.
I am off to the Philippines to find and island occupied
by only women.
No travel plans, just following my dreams.

Cantenna.com
An Antenna for a wireless computer network connection.
It is named after a Can + Antenna.
Why carry?
So I can connect for free to the internet by open
internet connections.
I really do not have much of an opinion on this thing
other than Cantenna.com gave it to me for free which
is nice, so I am going to give it a review.
This Cantenna is a windfall if it works.
So far in about 3 weeks of travel I connected one
time for Free, I will continue with this for a month.

THE LITTLE GERMAN THINGS
I am in what may be at the cultural roots to my home town,
as I am in a village in southern Germany that is so close to
my own northern Indiana culture that I feel like I went home,
but with a few German things.
Things and stuff are words that irritate some Europeans as
they see these word as non expressive or not good usage
of language, an Americanism.
The Germans in my mind sent the man to the moon, invented
the atomic bomb, and in reality gave the intelligence that
defeated themselves in the WWI and WWII. The USA largest
origin in the USA is German at around 26 percent of the U.S.
population, so a lot of German blood running around.
LITTLE THINGS
I am amazed at some of the details in Germany.
I once had a friend tell me that if you go to Germany you
should do an experiment. He said to take the roll of toilet
paper off the holder and reverse so it rolled out from the
underneath, then you could see if the German would turn
it around so that it pulled from the top again.
I did not do this experiment as I get in enough trouble
without playing mind games on people, but I think maybe
it is true, and my friend Sabine says for sure she would
have reversed the roll and put it back to the proper way.
The English are all into proper and good form and all this
noise about being someone, but the Germans appear to
have a culture of doing it right or not doing it. I suppose
those World Wars will constantly stick in their craw as they
lost and proved they are not perfect, but with this desire
for perfection you can understand how Hitler got the idea
for a superior race, and this does still appear to be part
of the German culture.
I love to look at things, stuff, people, houses, and anything
that is in front of my face and think about the whats, and
the whys? It is extremely interesting to look around in this
small German village.
It is very perfect and close to perfect, and just too much
sometimes for me, but I am a clutter brained, mixed up
individual, and I always have a few pieces of the puzzle
missing, but the German seem to strive to get all the puzzle
pieces together. So let me tell you about some of them
Little German Things I looked at.
VERY PERFECT
There is a bus stop and the wastebasket is installed
and locked to the pole.
There is a fire hydrant with the screw off hydrants just
down the hill from where I am and the caps have wires
to keep them from getting separated from the hydrant.
Now you got to know that a hydrant may only be used
one in 20 years, but they Germans are ready, and for
sure that cap will not get separated.
Almost all the building are made of red brick coated with
concrete slurry, wood just is for ornaments, very solid
construction.
I saw a basketball court that was surround by a tube steel
fence that was a work of art because of all the pieces.
All the homes are in the village and very few are outside the
village as if that land should always be completely available
for farmers, like a country wide zoning of free space.
Germans where bike helmets.
A church bell ring every hour.
WHAT HAPPENED HERE?
There are strip shows on each night after 10 or 11
on television.
The boys go and get Thailand wives.
The garages are so small you cannot get out of the car�
(But they are made of concrete and brick.)
The have a wash machine that can designate the temperature
of water, regulate the water level, but in typical European
fashion they do not seem to have a dryer.
The divorce rate is lower, but the Germans seem to be
giving up on the idea of marriage.
Harley Davidson and Motorcycle gangs are popular.
Happy or unhappy I do no know, and not important, but
there is a perfection in Germany that is hard to believe
is possible, I am sure much of this brain power emigrated
to the USA to probably get some free space or to break
the rules, but that is the perfection, that both perfect and
imperfect exist.
The Germans do it right, but still a little on the boring side.
I think I will go turn the roll around to see what happens,
got to have some fun somehow in a perfect world.

SPEAK ENGLISH AND BE PUSHY
First, let me say,
�People from New York city can (not all) be the biggest
jerks in the world! I am ashamed they are called Americans,
as they have a denigrating personality and a pompous character
of delusional superiority.�
In another tip I recommended that people speak English
and be pushy, and I stand by that statement in tourist
areas, and especially in areas where 80 percent of the
people are not native, or on trains, buses
and airplanes of the world.
But only after you know do not treat people with respect.
Just because you are in a foreign country does
not mean you don't deserve respect.
There is an �Ugly American� power trip the world is
playing to keep or try to shut up people, this is shameful
and disgusting behavior and when a person allows themselves
to be the victim they deserve it. I will call you names
for emphasis, but I am not trying to be your friend, I
am trying to keep you safe and happy.
ALL COUNTRIES ARE THE SAME IN THIS TIP
Why speak English?
Why you should NOT speak the local language?
Example:
There are lots of people that know a few words of
another language, for instance maybe you know the Spanish
greeting of,
�Como estas?� (How are you?)
So you walk up to the train ticket office and say,
�Como Estas?�
The person answers,
�Muy bien, y tu, donde quieres ir? Tu ya tienes
un boleto o posible quieres compra un otro.�
You opened the can of worms and now what
do you do? If you do not understand the answer then why
talk, the time to learn a language is not in times of
necessity, it is in your leisure time. But the worst part
is you have now started the person to believe that you
speak their language.
REAL LIFE DANGER EXAMPLE
I said,
�Chris if you say one more word of Arabic
I am going to beat you silly.�
These were my exact comments in Basra, Iraq
when me, Chris, and Peter entered Basra, Iraq in the dark
of night and the taxi driver was confused. Chris would
talk in Arabic and the driver would talk in Arabic, but
Chris did not speak Arabic he just knew a few words.
It was the black of night as the whole city was with no
power and we had no idea where we was going, we had a
note written in Arabic saying,
�Take us to the center of the city.�
But� instead of letting the man read the note, the
two dingalings I was with wanted to practice their Arabic.
The taxi driver in end got so confused we got sideswiped
by a bus, then the bus driver got out and start to fight
with the driver. I finally got out of the taxi that now
had about 20 people around the taxi to see who was inside.
(Note I called them dingalings � to their faces, and
even threaten to beat Chris silly.)
They asked,
�Where are you from?� (In English)
I said,
�Ameriqui� (They say Ameriqui)
Suddenly everyone was excited and wanted to help
and happy to know we was there. I spoke slow and kept saying,
�Hotel.�
I would not use any other word, so very simple,
�Hotel.�
Everyone slowly learned my goal, the Ameriqui wants
to go to a Hotel. Now the whole group starts to talk in
Arabic to the driver saying I believe �Hotel.�
I get back into the taxi,
Chris says,
�I am from Italy, Peter is from Canada.�
I did not have the heart to tell them I had already told
them the truth and the people were very happy. These
two were afraid, and may have traveled all the way
through Iraq lying and thinking they were hated and
never learned they were loved.
So Grow up, if you do not speak the language, accept
that you do not speak the language and do not really
be stupid by proving you are stupid, nothing worse
than a person that know 20 words in a language. Until
you have 500 words of vocabulary you are basically
like a child, and even then you are still defenseless
against a person that wished to talk fast in their native
language.
DO NOT BE BULLIED - BE PUSHY
I started this out by saying that New Yorkers are
JERKS, in my Indiana soft way of looking at the world
New Yorkers are extremely arrogant and need a kick
in the butt. They need to learn manners and if everyone
allows a person to bully them they will be bullied.
CLASS SYSTEM WORLD
The world is full of Queens and King, Dictators, and
Rich people that wish to abuse people. There are
smart people that enjoy to abuse dumb people, and
when I go to another country I am the dumb person.
I know very little about the country and the only way
to learn is to ask questions, but if the person that is
suppose to be �Information� and has that little sign
with the �I� in front of their office and proceeds with
the attitude that I am stupid, they do not have time,
and I should already know the answer.
I GET PUSHY
The people of the world are not like the USA where
we are told all people are equal on a minute by minute
basis, the world says that some people are special and
need to be treated special, and most people think they
are special or would not want that first class seat so
badly. A first class seat is not for better service it is to
get away from the rabble of society and the mis-fits.
So be PUSHY in Europe, or in the USA if you do not
get good service. This argument that the world does not
like Americans or we are the Ugly American is hogwash,
the world enjoys being abusive and Europeans have abused
Jewish people and poor people for ages, that is why
people emigrated to the USA to get freedom, so what
do you think they have stopped, there is still an age
of superiority and there are still Queens and Kings in
Europe, and people in New York think they are smarter
or more sophisticated than people from Indiana.
I hear weekly from Europeans racist comments against
the Israel people and cannot believe they would say
these comments, as in the USA they would be accosted
as racist, but the real world is racist.
ENABLING OR EMPOWERING
The biggest mistake people make is apologizing or
compensating for some mythical problem, like maybe
Americans are stupid, I think it is pretty obvious that
the USA is the Dominating power in the world because
they are smart and innovative, they did not become this
way by being stupid. So do not allow someone to teach
you how to behave, behave with pride and do not be
abused, or you deserve to apologize.
People tell you all these things to control you, do not
listen to people, just be a good person and forget the
noise. If a person treats you abusive demand your rights
and be pushy, or you can apologize for your life.
WEARING CANADIAN FLAGS ON YOU BAG.
A USA person that would wear a flag from the wrong
country on their bag deserve to be beat silly, for being
a wimp, stupid, spineless, and not being able to manage
and face reality in a truthful way, to lie to the world is
to say, I am a liar, I do not deserve respect.
Just another day in Paradise!

Fun tips - Here's a little tip from me, to you,
as an experienced traveler.
Give a German conversation rules before you
begin a conversation.
1. No starting of sentences with "But."
2. You must say "I agree" every 5th sentence.
Got to get them off to a good start that
they do not have the superior opinion.

Hello from Toronto!
It can be cheap to travel in Europe. Of course it's not as cheap as
Thailand.
Vienna has LOTS of hostels. They are cheper than London, but of course
not quite as cheap as Thailand.
I know you are not a fan of guide books. But Let's Go Europe will tell
you which bus to take to get from the train station to the hostel. It is
never, repeat NEVER, necessary to take a taxi.
To get to Slovenia from Italy go to Trieste.
Italy also has lots of hostels, although they hardly ever seem to be
centrally located which means a bus to get anywhere.
Europe can be one of the most convenient places to travel. It's much
easier to live without a car than in the U.S. I've done it for months at
a time without going broke.
The cheapest beach area is probably Portugal, but you should see Croatia
now before all the tourists figure out there isn't a war anymore. Once
they do the prices which shoot up, it's so beautiful.

All your opinions are correct.
The gist that is difference is WHY should the most
modern countries
be more difficult than the poor countries?
I was not complaining about the cost.
I was complaining about the service.
Why does Europe have a shortage of Hotels, and Hostels?
My theory is the laws protect the present owners, and
stops competition, the cost of living is so high that emigration
is necessary for the poor, or you must get on the dole.
(The free money system of Europe.)

Buenos dias, amigo vagamundo...Sorry for what happened
in Europe but I�m glad to
know there is somebody else
like me. I went there last year and couldn�t enjoyed
properly because of the extremly high prices, while
I can go to an expensive
restaurant in Bogota with my
family ( 3 more ) I can have a meal in a pedestrian
area
in Frankfurt....crazy....!!!! A bit exagerated but I was
eally schoked with
prices.
And not only you pay so much but people are not
friendly ....and then you go to
the beaches in the
Adriatic and guess what....there is no sand !!!! just
pebbles
and thousands of people around you.
I agree, go to Asia...come back to south America...there
is still plenty to see
some other places.
I wish you the best and want to tell you that a little
bit of myself travels
with you all the time.

Andy! I cant believe you told people they should stop
trying to speak the local
language, speak ENglish and
be pushy! this is EXACTLY the type of behavior that
gets
Americans a bad travel reputation. Having a map, a smile,
and being
persistent (not rude and pushy) helps a great
deal! always, always, always try
the local language! esp
in EUrope where the language is at least similar in
alphabet
to what we're used to. I am in Taiwan where the local
language is
either Chinese symbols or a really butchered
version of Chinese-English
(Pinyin). Even so, a map and
a smile and few local words help tons. It worked
for
me in Europe, it works for me here. I really dont think
you should be
telling people to be a rude and pushy
traveler. You sound frustrated as hell and
I will chalk
this tip up to being a result of that, but PLEASE dont do
things
like this. You have been traveling for a long time
and I think people look up to
you in that area and listen
to your advice. Please be a good example.

The world is looking at you to be a standard of pride,

Hello,
Do not worry, I am abandoning the donation idea.
I am just making people feel guilty.
I am positive I save people more than one dollar
by reading this newsletter.
A person should not expect
something for nothing,
this is a dangerous method of thought for a traveler.
A person that will take can get extremely abused
by the world, so I am constantly trying to prod people
in learning to pay their way, even if it is free. I make
it free, but that does not mean I do not expect money
or support, I do expect and demand support. It is impossible
to really give something for free, what I do is give you
the choice on how to support, or in the end with no support
I will have to extract fees. Most webpages just try to
sell you a ROTTEN TOUR DEAL, this is not my way,
I have always given advice that I would use or buy.
The idea of
fairness is a sign of character,
even when offered an unfair deal.
