BEACH LIFE - Barcelona, Spain

Hello from the Beach,
Most of you know I like the beach, but then
maybe you don't. I am almost never more then
a month away from a beach. Sometimes
I fail and stay away too long. But for me the waves,
ocean, and sun bring me home to a safe place
and my friend the sun.

If you follow my adventures you will sense and
know that I think too much of the beach.
I am in Barcelona, Spain still as I try out my new
method of traveling Europe. That is to get an apartment
for a month. This is a great way to see this confusion
easily with the least amount of stress.

I was off to Portugal, but have put that on hold
until I have enough time. I get the feeling that it is
a great place, and do not want to short it of the proper
amount of time.

Peter one of my travel companions has picked up
a Petition or Invitation from the English Scholars of
Mosul, Iraq and is now in England. They are sending
out and invitation or welcome to the world to visit
Iraq after their 20 plus years of isolation. So I will
go and pick up the Petition from Peter in England
next. This petition will be posted on the page me
and Natasha a friend and volunteer to assist have
created for the people of Mosul.
http://www.visitmosul.org

Peter was kind enough to pick up the finished
petition after I left the country. I will go exchange
stories with him in England, and sleep on the floor.
This is the proper price for room and board for
me in England. So check out VisitMosul.org and
it will evolve we hope into a link between Iraq
and the world.

INDIA and the Beach.

I have benchmarked the 20th of October as
my time to leave Europe and fly to Bombay or
maybe Mumbai... I am not sure why? But this
is another name of Bombay, India. But nonetheless
I will take the body, computer, and other miscellaneous
parts of my world to India. A land of cheap.
A place for hoboes on the lamb, and with very
little money to spare.

I believe besides having women with a wonderful
and exotic color or skin, they also have beaches.
I will do the Goa thing soon. Whatever that mean?
I am sure Alex Garland the writer of the Beach
could update me on this concept. I am not always
up on the inner circle of traveler gossip, but I will
soon know the real story behind India and the
Goa thing.

Christopher Columbus
Italian Cristoforo Colombo
Spanish Cristbal Coln

One of the greatest travelers of all time.

This person whether of madness, greed, or
some great spiritual need, or just maybe an
inner need to explore has my admiration
as a true traveler of the world. A hobo and
wanderer of the planet.

Christopher Columbus as the English speaking
world calls him is remembered by a Statue in
the city of Barcelona, Spain. This statue is at the
the intersection of the Mediterranean Sea and the
road called "Las Ramblas" in Barcelona. The Ramblas
is the road that leads from the heart of the mountainous city
to the sea and thus meets the old port entrance. At
this intersection of Sea and Land is the Statue of
one of the greatest sailors, navigators, explorers,
adventurers, and insightful persons of all time.

Genius is weighed in many ways, and life has
few true geniuses, but the man called born in Italy
called Cristoforo Colombo was in my esteem
such a man.

He was able to muster the courage for whatever the
motivation it is not important, to travel to a place across
an ocean to Hispaniola in America. He did this not once
but more then once to the same location. Making 4 voyages
to the other world in total.

Exploration is needed in the world. Cristbal Coln
as the Spanish called him was able to mentally, financially
and physically bring together a desire that was
dangerous.

This world was NOT discovered. There was No knowledge
we have, and communication did not exist in
the way that we have today. He lived in a world of
no telephone, no satellites, no world maps and saw
within his mind the connection between the two dots.
Spain and a route around the planet and back home.

He was one of the first.

He understood the winds.
He understood the Kings and Queens
and powers that be.
He understood waters.
He understood the planets, stars, and the sun.
He understood the people of the world.
He waved the consequences and waved at God.
He understood how to communicate to the world
the story of his findings.

A new world.
America.

How do you get in a ship and go where no
man has gone before? Mix madness and
genius and out comes a traveler to a new world.

Christopher Columbus.

~ TODAYS TRAVEL TIPS

HEAVY THINGS IN YOUR BAG

Starting with the worst.

1. Computer - It is a huge rock. Better to buy
a cheap one then a light one. If it gets stolen
you will not cry as long.

2. Water - Heavy and can damage things. WORST
Carrying water can save you the most money!

3. Tent - Very heavy, and hard to use in most places.
This is suppose to save you money, but normally
people in tents get robbed. Depends on country.

4. Books - I carry 7. This is the weight in my pack.
I have found it takes that many to always be ready
to trade.

5. Food - If you carry food. All of it is heavy and
normally you can buy anywhere. Buy only what
you need. Cooking oil is extremely messy and heavy.

6. Boots - The big rugged go to the mountains type.
This is the least needed item people have.
Low top ones or just tennis shoes work great.

7. Shampoo - Conditioner. A small bottle is ok,
but you really need the bigger to travel for months.
I just refill my special bottle.

8. Guidebook - I have given mine away, just so
I do not have to carry it. But you really need one.

9. Gear - All them little devices they want to sell
that you do not need, but buy anyway. Like a pad
to sleep on the ground or special spoon. I consider
a Swiss knife not needed or wanted. I teased some
really good German Boys in La Paz, Bolivia that the
must have got captured inside the Gear shop and
had to sleep there. They had everything. This is nice
but gear is very expensive and could pay for a trip if
you just say no.

10. Liquids... If it is a liquid. It is heavy.

11. Extra of anything. Not needed.
(Extra Camera battery is needed.)

11. Miscellaneous: Batteries, Ponchos, Makeup,
Shaving Cream, Camera. etc.

12, Blue Jean - I wear jeans. I do not wear the travel pants.
To me they say... Rob Me! I think it is better
to modify your pants. The weight it marginal.

Just another day in Paradise!
PLAN YOUR ESCAPE...
Be a Hobo, and leave your mark.

COMMENT:
Subject Re:
Hobo TRAVEL TIPS - Barcelona, Spain - Vacation or Tour

hey andy. the chris columbus statue isnt pointing to
america, its more like
the direction of libya. cheers

Bryan W.

ANSWER:
Now that is a depressing thought. I keeping thinking
that Barcelona is pointing at the USA. But it is on
the Mediterranean Sea and not the Atlantic Ocean.
Hard to imagine what when on in the heads of the
Kings, Queens, and Sailors of the day. They thought
more about being Privateers I think...

"privately owned armed vessel commissioned by a
belligerent state to attack enemy ships, usually vessels
of commerce. Privateering was carried on by all nations

from the earliest times until the 19th century. Crews were
not paid by the commissioning government but were
entitled to cruise for their own profit, with crew members
receiving portions of the value of any cargo or shipping
that they could wrest from the original owners. Frequently,
it was impossible to restrain the activities of privateers
within the legitimate bounds laid down in their commissions
Thus, it often became difficult to distinguish between
privateers, pirates, corsairs, or buccaneers, many of
whom sailed without genuine commissions."
- Encyclopedia Britannica

The seem to be the ancestors to all of Central and
South America.
