How I feel today, or a start down
the proverbial travelers path.
But that the dread of something after death.
The undiscovered country from whose bourn
No traveler returns puzzles the will. And makes us
rather bear those ills we have Than fly to others
we know not of.

DOHUK, IRAQ
(Kurdistan)
I left the border city of Silopi, Turkey and
went about
80 miles into Iraq to the Kurdish city of Dohuk.
Sitting here in a small Hotel I feel
as though I have dived into the deep water
and going through a thermo cline.
I have left the warm and friendly waters of
Turkey where I can breath easily and entered
the lower layers of a Kurdish society.
It is colder... Burr.
This has nothing to do with the United States
Soldiers. It is a different culture. They more or less
look the same, but there is a difference. Probably
to the unseasoned traveler and people that travel
by airplane they would not feel the weather change.
Most of my travels is by bus. This is the way I find
the soul and enter the real country.
I often ask myself?
"Hmm, are these people happy, or unhappy?"
I do this everywhere. This is my way of finding
the happy path of life.
A Dictatorship feels different then a
Democracy.
WMD - WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION.
A mechanical engineer PHD from Baghdad
stated logically. They have stopped the WMD.
Saddam Hussein is the weapon. He explained
that Saddam wanted WMD, and his intention
was dangerous.
SEARCHING FOR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
As I often say, I travel to meet people.
I like to meet the people of a country.
And unfortunately some countries are better.
But there are these nuisances called,
"Tourist Attractions."
There is a constant insidious pressure by
people that want me to look at things and not
pay attention to the to people. I do feel a loss right
now. I miss those addlebrained tourist walking
around like sheep in a pasture. They often discover
for me the best of a place. What is the best things
to look at and not the people.
(Note: The USA citizen very seldom has a passport,
and look more like cows then sheep.)
Dohuk is rich in comparison to the rest of my
travel world destinations. I can feel it also.
It is five time more expensive than normal.
THAN VERSUS THEN
I have no idea how to use these 2 words.
You probably already know this, but I thought
I would give you another heads up on my
grammar and spelling. I do not call this a problem
of grammar and spelling. I call it a problem of
motivation. Hard for me to get motivated when
the effective end is still accomplished.
Communication.
Or in simple terms.
I really do not care if you like my spelling
or grammar... hehehe.
Like a child, I like to prod the
"Hobgoblins" (Emerson)
Life is good and I am looking for the safe
path to Mosul. It is hard to say who is safe?
From the Kurdish mentality the Arabic person
is not safe. A generalization is not very helpful
though. I will look for the jump to the next safe
Hotel in Mosul. I will probably enter the Arabic
areas and they will say the Kurdish people are
not safe. Most people are safe in the world.
It is not human nature to want to hurt people.
What do the people of the world want?
Tell me please?

~ TODAYS TRAVEL TIPS
ADVENTURE TRAVEL
What is Adventure Travel?
So what do you want?
A cheap thrill.
To be James Bond 007.
No Risk - No Rush
The adrenaline pump.
The testosterone working overtime.
To be the big dog in an Alpha World.
To be alive, to feel, to think.
To be clear of thought and action.
WHAT IS ADVENTURE TRAVEL?
Risk.
It must be possible to be hurt.
Maybe killed.
Not everyone will finish or survive.
DICTIONARY DEFINITION
Adventure
a : an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks.
b : the encountering of risks the spirit of adventure.
I on occasion read a magazine article on
adventure tours or places of high adventure.
A pop psychology induced idea with
delusions of adequacy.
What about planning?
Can you plan an adventure?
Maybe, but the itinerary is shot to hell.
I have no idea how you would have an adventure
that has an itinerary. A start time and a stop
time. It sounds like a tour, smells like a tour,
and taste like a tour. That is a tour.
Not an adventure.
RISK AND UNKNOWN
"To go where no man has gone before."
Star Trek
Columbus, Magellan, Darwin., Marco Polo.
These boys were not sure what was ahead.
That is an adventure.
And neither does Captain Kirk.
That is the attraction. It is risky.
ADVENTURE - EXPLORER - EXTREME
These words blend together, but are not
the same. You could be an extreme traveler
and not have much risk or danger.
TIP on Extreme Travel:
https://www.hobotraveler.com/newstips052.php
Hard to not connect Adventure and Explorers.
To me an explorer is going to a place where
no one has collected information.
There is maybe no map.
An Adventure can be a repeat trip of an
and exploration. It is still risky, but you know
it is possible.
So an Adventure is a proposition that
involves
personal "risk" of being harmed, situations that
cannot be predicted. The "unknown." And the
planning cannot be controlled by "time." Plus
the trip is not "predictable," the level of adventure
is maybe out of control.
Loss of "control" and acceptance of this.
EXAMPLES:
- Climbing Mount Everest.
- Scuba diving below 100 feet.
- Entering villages of subsistence living where
less than 5 people come per month.
Especially alone.
- Soldiers going to battle.
I suppose there are levels of Adventure.
But this just sounds like a magazine
advertisements for tours in my opinion.
I think they are talking about the level of how
physically fit or healthy you need to be.
More or less "Endurance Travel."
Enter the world of adventure.
An overwhelming of the senses.
The greatest adventures are encounters
with the most dangerous of all animals.
The two legged Human.
Just another day in Paradise!
PLAN YOUR ESCAPE...
Be a Hobo, and leave your mark.

As always, these are suggestions. Please realize I am
giving guidance, and there are always other opinions.
One mans paradise, is another mans hell
This way we do not all go to the same place.
