CHOICES - Pattaya or Koh Chang?
Where should I go for last few days
in Thailand?

Write HoboTraveler.com and vote.. Quickly
where you want me take photos...

Hello,

I just came back last week from
the Island of Koh Pha Ngan to meet
up with a friend. I am trying to make
up my mind whether now to go take funny photos
of the crazies at Pattaya or go to the Island
of Koh Chang close to Cambodia for another
beach holiday. Both are beaches,but
one is more on the rent a girl side.

Making webpages is difficult
without a computer, so I will be glad to return
to USA to regroup, visit and lick my wounds.
Plus for a vacation from noise, cars,
and motorcyles and a few other unmentionable
annoyances.

I am realizing that I need to stay more in the
USA or lose myself, or learn to hate travel.
I like to meet people and that is part of
the Indiana way of doing things. We say
hello, and how are you?
I am forgetting how to do this.

I may wander around the USA a little more
this time when I go home, and visit people
so I can remember why I am who I am...

Then off with an around the world plane ticket.
Or something else I devise... hehehe

I will try to write people that have
joined the Hobo Club, and send out lots
of information while at home.
How to get Hobo ID card, and about book.

Now is a good time to join.
Sending 1 dollar will get you a membership
and if you send now. I can read your letters
When I arrive home. I really enjoy receiving
letters from nice people. ( A few exceptions.)

I keep thinking. 1 dollar. No need to even
write a check. Just fold up in paper and
send the bill. This will guarantee I leave the country
again. This is probably a good thing.
for those of you that think I am crazy.
It will also guarantee that I leave the country
for those of you that like to read about me
being crazy in other countries.
I leave or I leave... My way of negotiating.

So please join and they can ship me to... India.
Israel, maybe Prague. I would like to go to Turkey.

I am hoping this war with IRAQ will start soon.
The last one lasted about 88 days.
This one with Iraq will probably last
less than 30. They already have learned how
to lose fast, so they just need to repeat the process.
But I am still betting Saddams people kill him first
before we get the chance, and all this war hoopla
was just for good conversation.

I would love to go to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
So Saddam is a pain, and makes these areas
of the world angry and unstable.

OH well. Life is good.
Than you have to pay either your
bar bill or your room bill.
Maybe the rent a girl bill.

Before I forget.
Read the comments from readers.
Some guy from Ecuador (I think
a gringo) thinks I need to have my
USA ass kicked. He is from Otavalo,
Ecuador I think. I love the place
and sure I will return to eat the
worlds best Empanadas. Maybe he can
get his chance. Everyone deserve favor.

It looks bad for the webcam on Khao San
Road. They want to do the minimuns
and not the maximuns. Spend no money
but make money. Do no work, but have me
do it all...

Todays go this way is about
Crazy Farang.

Today tip is about how to choose a
travel agent.

FARANG BA BA BOH BOH
Phom tee rock mak mak

More or less in the Thai language.

Foreigner very crazy.
I love you too much Thailand.

I am always confused.
I love you, and I hate you.
I do not want to stay or leave.

Asia is a land of minimuns or maximuns.
Very little in between.
The girls are either too beautiful
or too ugly, and sometime not even girls.
But boys in disguise.

My friend explain me meaning of words
"Khao San." Sometime the meaning of word
is never noticed, but there is alway a
strange blend of truth and fiction with the
name of cities or countries... Sometime people.

She said there are 2 types of rice.
One is sticky rice, and the other normal.
Khao San is the words for normal rice.
She say me...
"Not yet cooked."
I try to interpret.
"Raw, before its cooked and in
natural state."
She say me.
"Yes."

She then say me. (Thai English)
"We cook Rice Thailand
we put rice pot. We add water."
I think and than comment.
"Yessss." Good, so get on with it.
She say me,
"Farang take raw rice and cook in
alcohol."

She goes on to explain that rice
can be made in many ways, and that
there is always 2 ways of eating.
But what you put in the rice,
is what you get out of the rice.

So she say me,
"Khao San Road is raw rice.
The travelers come and add things
to rice and change the rice.
It is not the same."

I ask her,
"What do the Thai people have to
do with this? Is it the Farangs fault
what they buy, or both."
She more or less say me,
"It is up to who puts in the ingredients."

This becomes vague and unclear, and she
comments that we all have a choice.
What we speak is what we do.
What we cook is what we eat.

She is not trying to be philosophical.
She is trying to explain to me the
foreingers in her country and how
to cook raw rice correctly.
I am the complicated problem.

I wish she would do the maximun and
explain more than the minimuns.
But that would not be Thailand.

I arrived confused, and have an
ongoing maitenance program to remain
in the same condition as when I arrived.
Farang Mak Mak Ba

Foreigners are too much crazy.
That mean me.

~ TODAY’S TRAVEL TIP

CHOOSING A TRAVEL AGENT.

Taxi Drivers.
Car Salesman.
Real Estate Sales.
Travel Agent.

The commission does it to them.
It makes them crazy.
Takes a decent person and turns
them into a problem child.
Or your best friend.
Or both.

What is a good travel agent?

1. INTERNET
They do not get angry when
you say... I can get it cheaper
or you say,
"I saw it on the internet at this price."
In fact a good agent can tell you some deals
available on the internet.

2. CONSOLIDATORS
They do not avoid or get
angry, when you say.
What about CONSOLIDATORS.
What is a consolidator?
http://www.hobotraveler.com/newstips034.php

3. COMMUNICATES WORLDWIDE
Ergo Reads e-mails. (Internet Saavy)
This is the future and unavoidable.
This is also the best way to communicate
when you are really in the middle
of nowhere or up that creek without
a paddle. YOU may need some travel
help. Your travel agent is the
person that should know the answers.
Test the agent out.
Write and wait for a response.
Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

4. CHEAPER OPTIONS
Give you the CHEAPER option.
Sometimes we want to be our own
travel agent. The agent helps us
find the ticket. A good travel agent
should be able to improve on your
temporary position as travel agent.
So when you come up with the great
price on plane ticket. The agent should
be able to one up you.

5. LIKES TRAVEL
They like to travel.
They travel.
They love to travel.
The think like you.
They love the idea of travel.
They do not stay home. They travel.
The got this job to travel.

6. POSTED DEALS
I believe that a good travel agent
and company will list or post in someway
good or current fares that are super savers.
A BIG SIGN ON FRONT OF BUILDING.
They know that people like a good deal
and will advertise these deals.

7. FINDS AN EVEN BETTER DEAL
Upgrades or better price.
If you travel agent has not called
you later, and found a even better deal
for the already purchased ticket...
Especially when you are buying way
ahead of schedule.

8. EXPERIENCE
The new agent can try harder.
But in the end. The experienced should
be able to beat the inexperienced.
An experienced agent should be able
to play the
"What if game...Off the top of head."

How much or what if I go here?
How much? Guestimates good and quick.
Ballpark figures to help guide you.

9. POLITICAL OR NEWS
They know the current political
conditions of NEPAL, or Africa.
The advise you on adverse travel
conditions or best times to travel.
They do not let you go to bad place.
They know how to find the information.

10. CORPORATE SALES
"We specialize corporate sales."
You should not HEAR this noise.
a.k.a. We like clients that pay
a lot, and fly on last moment in
business or first class.
Not the cheap place.

THEY ARE THE GUIDE
I do not mean literally.
The can guide you down the path
and be a consultant. They lead
you to the best choice. You do not
ask and them answer. They can explain
options... with the who, when, where
and why, and a few hows.

You feel the advice they give you
saves you money and time. You do not
want to make a travel decision without
calling and talking first.

Just another day in Paradise!
PLAN YOUR ESCAPE...
Be a Hobo, and leave your mark.

As always, these are suggestions. Please realize I am
giving guidance, and there are always other opinions.
“One mans paradise, is another mans hell”
This way we do not all go to the same place.

The perfect travel book.
Big and fat. Takes a long time to
read in the typical Clancy fashion.
It you want a glimmer of fun understanding

China is big, and the Tom has not ignored
this fact, he explains a way of thinking
that is different than the normal western
mentality. China.

Most of Tom Clancy's books start out slow
and get faster. This one starts out fast
and stays fast for the 1000 plus pages.
