Hello,

I am on my last days in Thailand and
Southeast Asia. I will return and visit
the rest of the countries in about one
year I think.

I should say something nice.
hmmmm... I like the Chicken Fried Rice.
Great Karst topography.
I am convinced that love is for sale.

I PREDICT
No War with Iraq.
His own people or soldiers will kill him.

OR...
George does a Tom Clancy move and drops
a big bomb on Saddams head.
Sad about Europe. They are not very
good friends, except for Great Britain.

I need to pay attention to the politics
of a region or people to be sure I am
safe. Most of the countries like Iraq,
Thailand, Colombia, all want and beg the
USA to help them rid themseleves or their
leeches and parasites.

DARWIN WAS CORRECT
I sort of think its Darwinian.
Or maybe like them Lemmings things.
All these people are volunteering
to go to Iraq and be under the bombs
and serve as a human shield.
"Quick get out of the GENE pool..."
Thanks... Yea... Take Sean Penn with
you... please and few of the corrupt
NGO's.

THAILAND
So all you boys out there that have trouble
scoring. The land of 1000 Baht or 1000 smiles
will let anyone play. Bring about 25 Dollars USA
and you are guaranteed to win.

Thailand is a game. You buy a book with
a price tag of 4 dollars. They ask you for
6 dollars and when you open it. It is a book made
on a copy machine with the last page missing.
The value is that you bought it in Thailand
and you will leave it in Thailand... hehehe

USA BOUND
I am looking forward to clean sheets, quiet,
and a better smell in the USA. I know some
of you think I am crazy. But it is alway better
to love the one your with.

India and Israel is calling.
I am thinking. This is truly the Holy lands
and I have some real interesting history to
uncover and discover.

Today tip is about Travel Health

KHAO SAN ROAD - BANGKOK THAILAND
Center of the Backpacker Universe.
SOUTHEAST ASIA

Khao San road is the start and the end
of all objects or creatures that enter and leave
Southeast Asia. It is the gate to the
Southern Asia culture. Your best place to start.

A wise travel agent would quickly warn
you to beware. This is for the party crowd
and the younger travelers. This is good
and horrible advice at the same time.
Yes, beware there is an crusty smelly side
to Khao San Road, that will be hard to wash
off you, or forget, but this is the
center of the Traveler Universe for this
region of shrinking planet and should be
noted and recognized.

The horrible advice would be to avoid it.
Maybe you do not want to live on Khao
San Road, but you should understand the
why, where, and whats of this epicenter.

It is an untamed throbbing heart like a river.
The body of Southeast Asia searching for an
idenity. Trying to cleanse the blood and
renew itself on a daily basis.

You can see the youth of the world.
The hope, the rage, and the madness that
will create the future of the world.
I see it as an optimist.
They are a clumsy bunch of travelers.
No clear direction, but on the right path.
They will enter and leave this fire.
Some will be destroyed and other with become
better.

But to find the soul of a person or place.
You must be ready to get dirty.
To face the people with no face.
To understand what is for sale?
Why it is for sale?
It is a challenge to keep your head
about you when the world is on a slant.

The one end has a police station and
a Buddhist temple in close partnership.

Khao San road is about 3 blocks long.
It has a beginning and an ending. But
is the start or the finish for adventure.

Here you can buy a copy of the world.
The have copied and sell it in the street
music CD's or current movies. Shirts and
and trends. Anything that is of the currrent
fashion is on sale. The young traveler walks
on the street to declare they are different
and walk off the street with dread, or a shaved
head and lose their idenity.

Khao San road is like a friend that
is genious, but cannot stop drinking long
enough to finish a profound statement.

Anywhere your travel agent warns you
about is proobably where the gate to adventure
exist. It is not a safe planet.

I am working on putting up a WEBCAM
on Khao San Road for either next week
or week after. If I am very lucky all will
work out... and we will see live photos.

Life is good.

Thanx

~ TODAY’S TRAVEL TIPS

TRAVEL HEALTH

I suppose you could list of all
the possible diseases and health problems
of the world, but that is rediculous and
really you should just go to a doctor.
The average traveler will always be close to
doctors and hospitals, and if they are really sick
they go home.

So in the end, you only need some
guidance or the solutions to simple problems.
Medicine is worldwide. The manufacturers
of pills, drugs, and other remedies have
done a good job of setting up world distributions.

What is different from most of the developed
countries is that it is easier to buy medicine.
A little more difficult on the recreational
types like viagra and valium. But for the most
part you walk into a pharmacy and buy what
many would consider prescription only
medicines over the counter in most of the
underdeveloped countries.

WHAT I CARRY?
1. QUADRADERM
This is for skin infections or rashes.
You want to find an antibiotic cream to
cure the infection. If it has a local anestisia
it will numb the rash and stop the itch.
http://www.edoc.co.za/medilink/products/1896.html

2. AMOXIL or AMOXILLIUM
This is an antibiotic in pill form.
The local pharmacist will recommend something
for you. The pharmacist can sometimes be better
than the doctor on understanding the local pills
and how to use them. But take great caution.
Do not be your own doctor. Especially if you
are allergic to lots of things.
http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/amo1019.htm

3. LOMOTIL
Diphenoxylate with Atropine
(Lomotil)
This will STOP diarreah. I do NOT
believe it is a cure. But if you are getting
on a bus, train, or plane...etc.
This can stop or delay the problem.
http://www.cheshire-med.com/services/pharm/meds/diphenoxylate_with_atropine.html

4. SINE-AID
I get headaches when changing altitudes.
These are throbbing and painful.
This will stop the headache. Any medicine
that says for SINUS will do the job.
Make sure they are not giving you cold medicine.
That is for colds.
http://www.drugs.com/xq/cfm/pageID_0/brand_Sine-Aid%20Maximum%20Strength/qx/index.htm

5. ALCOHOL OR HYDROGEN PEROXIDE (H2O2)
I use the alcohol to clean my body.
Very good when no shower is available.
Peroxide is great to brush your teeth
and clean infections. They sell creams
in some countries and easier to use.
Be very careful before putting these on
your skin. Some people will get burns.
http://www.howstuffworks.com/question115.htm

6. INSECT REPELLANT IN BOTTLE &
MOSQUITO NET.
I do NOT carry sprays. They are dangerous
and leak. You want a cap on the bottle that
is secure. Malaria is carried by mosquitos.
I am surprised at the number of people that
use malaria pills but do not have a MOSQUITO NET
or mosquito repellant. Carry a Mosquito
net always, and use mosquito repellant.

7. SEASICK OR MOTION SICKNESS.
Car sick... etc.
Sit in front of the rear tires of the
bus always. Close you eyes. Do not sit on the
front of boat. The up and down motion will get
you sick.
http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/907367055.html

8. CHAPSTICK AND LOTIONS
Salve or creams to moisturize lips.
Carry this if you want. A sudden case
of dry lips is not a big problem. Use
some skin cream or anything available.
I put sunblock on my lips at the beach.
I carry. Cheap and small.

9. SUN BLOCK
I would recommmend you always have this
available. Sunburn is a major problem.

10. BAND AID OR COVER FOR CUTS.
Nice to have. But they sell them
anywhere almost.

11. EYE DROPS OR LUBRICANTS.
You want a lubricant and not the get the
red out type. You want some moisture.
The air blowing on your eyes in a bus,
fan, or from the ocean will make your eyes
hurt.

WHAT I USE BUT DO NOT CARRY?

1. ORANGE JUICE OR LEMON JUICE
I think you can get scurvy or other
skin problems from lack of these juices.
Take along some Vitamin C maybe. But drink
juice. The 2 above will do the job.
I am not sure on the mangos.

2. ASPIRIN OR TYLENOL
Why not?

3. CONTAC OR ACTIFED
For the runny nose.
But is not needed to carry.
A cold is not an emergency.
IF a cold is a big problem.
Get a life and go home.

I suppose a person should have condoms.

Hangover.
Exercise to get the oxygen back to
the brain. The alcohol cause the blood
to clot and kills the small brain cells
from oxygen starvation. I would say that
most traveler have a big problem with
this. I seem to have an overabundance of
brain cells, although I am sure I have
killed a lot in the past.

ONE ENORMOUS DOSE OF COMMON SENSE.
All this advice is dangerous.
Or it is helpful.
Use your common sense.
