A story and tribute to September 11, 2001
Me a.k.a Andy... thinkin outloud.

“You are either with us,
or you are against us.”

George W. Bush JR
President of the United States of America
September 2001
To live or die by your words.
The job of a leader.

George Bush Senior said a word also.
I remember it very well,
and I became curious to understand.
George W. Bush the father said,
“We need to be a good steward.”
Like father, like son.

I walk around the planet, or at least that
is my endeavor. Looking at the world and
the world looks back. A tourist, a traveler,
and an observer.

I received advice on my webpage,
the other day saying,
“Stop Hobo,
You are embarrassing yourself.”
He did not say for what, or why.
And I thought about the comment
for little time.

On the first page was a photo.
I change this photo when my heart,
mood, and location changes.
But in this time I had placed a photo of a small boy
wearing a shirt with the USA Flag stars
and stripes.

The caption said,
“Made in Thailand.”

OK.... I did not explain.
It was my own private joke.

I am alone. I very seldom see a fellow
countryman, or a person that says,
“I am from the USA.”
We are NOT represented in the world
by our people. They all stay home.
I do not think they want to leave.

Most people seem to want to leave their country.
Not the people in the USA.
They all stay home.

I walked into a bar in Koh Phi Phi about
9:30 in the morning. A bars lives at night
and in this early hour there is the feeling of
a battle. Winners and losers drag their wounded
heads, and bodies around the room. Telling
everyone to not bother them, and leave them to
lick their wounds in peace. They carry the scars of
the night before.

This is a special bar for me, and I am carrying
a camera to capture the moment.

A childhood book about a boy that travels the world.
The theme of the bar is about Tintin.
A boy like me that travels the world.

In the aftermath of the battle.
At 9:30 in the morning.
I am too happy, and to excited.
Taking photos of people that eyes are half opened.
No one speaks English.
They go looking for a person
to explain to the Farang.
“Why is the bar named Tintin?”
I did not find the answer.
But I did find a little boy
that told another story.

A boy wonders into the bar with his mother
in tow. Looking to the left, looking to the right.
Having the curiosity and excitement that
should exist in a bar called TinTin’s.

To look at the world through the eyes of a child.
One of my goals in life.

I look down in the dark, and battle torn bar.
I see a small boy. With this American Flag shirt
on his back.

A little boy wakes in the morning.
A mother finds him a shirt.
Walks out to challenge the world.

The world hears a voice.

“You are either with us,
or you are against us?”

I look at this boy in awe.
The boy and the mother are from Thailand.
I think to myself.
“What a noise you are making young man.”

You are a representative of MY country.
You are the steward of an opinion.
Do you know what you are saying?
You scream so loud young man.
You are saying.
I am with you, not against you.”

I am not sure how to embarrass myself.
I am a Hobo, and we do not embarrass easy.
Sort of goes with the show.

In a world full of loud mouthed bullies.
I would think this person who think I am
embarrassing myself would see.
He is a bully.

A bully makes a lot of noise.
Trying to keep the smallest child quiet.

A leader says what small children and
mothers need and want to hear.
This boy represents a very big voice.
A voice that bullies want kept quiet
so they can continue to abuse.

Thank you Mr. President
for being a good steward.
Representing the voice of children
and mothers of the world.

And one Hobo named Andy
