Eggs Smell Like Fish in Peru

Eggs Smell Like Fish in Peru
I went into the very modern Plaza Vea a supermarket in Lima, Peru and purchased some eggs. I boiled all 18 of them in my room, and then when I started to eat a couple of them, I started to gag, the eggs tasted like Fish.

I truly despise the smell or harsh taste of fish, I threw all the eggs in the trash, this was the second time in Peru eggs tasted and smelled like fish.

My body starts to smell when I eat too much of one type of food. I am suggesting or proposing that these chickens in Peru were fed some form of Fish as a form of food.

Were these chickens fed fish?

Travel Tip

The best way to buy a computer is to visit as many stores as possible and get the education, then buy cheap, because the life a computer is about 1-2 years.

I purchased a new Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv4-1140go Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T5800 2 GHz - 14.1 Computer yesterday at Office Depot in Fort Wayne, Indiana on West Jefferson.

It is not easy to buy the computer you want, all the stores carry computers with a different set of variables.

I paid 800 US with taxes, after a 50 U.S. Dollar rebate.

A Sony VAIO cost 850 for the same computer, except it did not have a PCMIA Slot. This slot is used by many countries for GPRS or Edge cell phone connections and maybe needed. Plus although Sony is a great computer, the Warranty is still not good enough globally. (Ash you are correct...)

When I walked into the stores, I would ask,
“Which computer has the best warranty globally?”

The answer was always Hewlett Packard, nobody even wanted to debate this question. I think I would have purchased a 450 U.S. Dollar Acer if I was not going to leave the USA. There is a great value in being able to buy two for the price of one.

The Bluetooth and the PCMIA slot of this computer was a great bonus for connecting to cellular networks worldwide for internet.

I visited 12 stores, all having different computers in each store, and was lucky enough on the last store to find the correct computer. Each store would have different computers, even if the same name, a person truly needs to visit many for the educational experience.

CHEAPER

450 HP Intel 15 Inch computer on sale
300 Acer without a CD Rom

I did not buy one them really small 11-12 inch ACER computers, there is no way to easily load software. I am presently on a Verizon Dialup connection and I am not sure I can get all the software loaded before I leave on this connection. I may have to go to Fort Wayne, Indiana and sit in a coffee shop for a few hours to download needed software.

I carry about 10 DVD software programs with me when I travel, I need to be recover the hard drive and start over when needed.

All in all, my big debate was the cost, a 400 Dollar computer would have worked, if I was not going to Africa for the next 3-6 months I would have purchased a 400 Dollar something. A computer is presently only good for about 1-2 years of travel. I am only planning on one year of use, extra time is a bonus. I must purchase computer in the USA to be safe, although Thailand is very tempting. I want clarity of use, with the least amount of downtime. I want any techie in the world to be familiar with the machine, I am not trying to be unique, I am trying to be extreme mainstream.

When buying a computer for world travel, being clever is not a good idea, being common is a great idea.

Learning Vista is going to take time, I truly would have liked XP if possible, I have no desire to learn Vista, I presently see no advantage.

This computer I set up a user and password to turn on the computer for security reasons, I can be a little slack and allow annoying pages like Facebook.com, Twitter.com and Linkedin.com to save passwords so they annoy me less. I am already filtering all these pages into folders so I can monitor them easier than opening the sites.

The best way to buy a computer is to visit as many stores as possible and get the education, then buy cheap, because the life a computer is about 1-2 years.

AMD versus Intel Computer

AMD versus Intel Computer
The CPU of my HP Pavilion is AMD, it is not Intel. I am not able to use my computer without having a fan pointed directly at it. The computer has been hot for the last year, I have done many things to try to keep it cooler. However, after this last crash, the thing is toast, I have no choice, I must purchase a new computer.

I am here in Indiana, it is freezing outside and I have a fan blowing full blast on my computer to cool it.

There has been many techies who told me this computer is a problem. I have few options, as best I can figure out, the only computers brands that appear to give computer warranty worldwide are Sony and Hewlett Packard.

I will probably buy a Hewlett Packard tomorrow with an Intel Chip inside.

Dell is a USA computer, not global.

Toshiba is good, but not truly global.

Acer is great, I would like it, and it I do not buy a Hewlett Packard, I will probably go for the Acer.

Sony is still not really mainstream, it is the new kid on the block.

I only see Americans with Dell Computers, contrary to their big USA noise, I feel they are only a USA brand, not a global brand.

Who will do Warranty work in the country of Ethiopia, it is NOT a feasible option to send a computer back to the USA for work? I suspect Acer is big in Africa... the good thing is I can buy this tool for about 600 US Dollars.

Plane Trips are Porthole to Porthole Travel Tip

Plane Trips are Porthole to Porthole Travel Tip
Never get yourself confused, when the travel agent tells you a plane trip is three hours, the trip is really about six, this is your actual travel time, not the three hours in the air.

1 hour to get to the airport.
2 hours to wait for the plane to depart
3 hours of air time
1 hour to get to the Hotel
--- 7 hours, porthole to porthole.

A bus can beat a plane porthole to porthole easily.

A bus can get from hotel to hotel quicker than a plane on short trips.

When a bus trip is over six hours, this is when I start thinking a plane is a better form of transportation.

You need to measure the time from the Hotel to the next Hotel, do not get confused, a plane trip of three hours is not you travel time, it the plane trip.

2009 February 14 Leave Peru enter USA
After 24 hour of torture, I am finally in the USA, there is always a debate in my head how a trip can take this long. I left at 9:00 from the Hotel in Peru and arrived in my parents house about about 8:45 the next day. The time zone is the same, so just a little under 24 hours of time from porthole to porthole.

I left on the 14 and arrived on the 14, however it is now the 15th of February, I went to bed after torturing my sciatic nerve for 24 hours.

Time on the plane was about 10, time on the bus was 3, so I only had 13 hours of pure travel time, the other 11 hours was sitting in airports waiting.

I am always thinking, maybe a 24 hour bus ride is more comfortable than this 24 hour airplane trip.

Just Say No to Vacation Blogs

Just Say No to Vacation Blogs
Hehehe, I have subscribed to 100’s of Travel Journals and Newsletters over the years. However I seldom read these Travel Journals, because 99.99 percent of them are not Travel Journals, they are Vacation Blogs. A person goes on a very long vacation and Blogs about it.

I am being facetious, people can read Vacation Blogs, and they will help you to learn how to enjoy your Vacation.

However, I seldom need to unsubscribe to a Travel Journal, they end because the person stops traveling. This is why I have started to call them Vacation Blogs, they are like Vacations, something you do for awhile, with the “Wonder of it all glasses,” on.

I have subscribed to many Airline Ticket newsletters and Blogs over the years; however, the majority tells me how to fly from the USA or UK to somewhere, not around the world.

Now to be fair, I have to admit, only about 1 in 1000 people who say they are a traveler, truly are a traveler. I suppose to find a Travel Journal I would need to subscribe to 1000 to find the needle in the haystack.

What is the advantage of reading a Travel Journals as opposed to a Vacation Blogs, I suppose it is experience. (Disadvantage is you have to read a lot of rambling.)

Example:
I remember Eric writing me a personal email asking how long my extension cord was for my room. I had the cord made; it is three meters long, a 14-gauge flexible copper wire cord with four outlets that accept both the slotted and the round 220 plug.

Why is it 3 meters?

This is the size needed to reach across the average room from an inconvenient plug on the wall.

How do I keep from tripping over this cord is another question.

How do I deal with worn out outlets that refuse to hold my male plug is another question.

I can laugh though; it is not possible to learn all the tricks of travel in one day, therefore impossible to explain in one day.

I just thought of a great way to make money, I would write a 50-100 page book on how to manage electricity while traveling. I could list out 100 strange and unusual problems I have had and how I was able to solve the problem. For example, I could explain how to safely tap into a live electric wire and connect my second extension cord. Yes, I carry two of them, one is very small and does not have the male plug, it is only bare wire, and I also have some alligator clips.

I can change a 5-dollar room into a 25-dollar room by installing all the necessary features that are missing.

Maybe one day I will feel like I have learn how to travel, after 10 years of perpetual travel I am positive I will never stop learning, and that is the fun of travel.

Taca Flight to Guatemala

Taca Flight to Guatemala
I will fly Monday morning from Chicago to Guatemala on a Taca flight I purchased online for about 230 U.S. Dollars. Taca.com airlines sent me an email yesterday reminding me I had a flight in 48 hours, this was a nice benefit.

I purchased the flight while I was still in Thailand with the help of my travel agent Jeroen in Bangkok. He checked all the days to find when the cheapest ticket was available and I got on the internet and purchased the ticket, because he could not sell the ticket himself.

This is a good example of how a travel agent can help if they truly understood the airline systems. I believe only about 1 in 500 travel agent have the experience and knowledge to do this. I often think a travel agent should now be used for a consultant and not to buy tickets.

One comment every person who is in default on a mortgage needs to hear,
“There is no debtors prison.”

I enjoy the game of business, it is intriguing what motivates people, I have a curious part of me that keeps dwelling on buying and selling. Truly if there is one guideline any business needs to remember it to make the products they sell affordable to purchase.

I feel it is unethical and immoral to sell something when you know the person cannot afford it. However, I am 100 percent sure you can induce a person to do this.
