I said,
“No Problem, I want you to have freedom.”

I have always found it funny the day’s people do not work on the planet. Here in Thailand there is a drop in vendors on Monday, I think maybe it the day the King is Born, not quite sure, although on some days the Thailand people were Yellow shirts and other days Pink, all to do with the Queen or King of Thailand.

I remember many instances of joking around with my Islamic friends around the planet.

“Ok, if you are not going to work Friday, then why are you not working on Sunday also?”

I truly do NOT want to understand all this, and I truly do not care when people work, except when I am hungry and the stores are closed.

Even funnier was a rain day in Togo, West Africa, when it started a heavy rain, the majority of small Mom and Pop stores would close.

Contrary to any misleading information you have about the planet, the majority of the planet, the 80 percent that is underdeveloped also have underdeveloped work habits. Let us put it this way, they do not knock themselves out working; more or less they sit around the majority of the day waiting for one of their friends to wander by so they can talk.

Truly the countries that are “Working by the Sweat of our Brow” and paying for Adams and Eves sins is the Developed Countries.

So what to think of my new Islamic worker in Egypt, I think she is extremely bright, diligent, her English is interesting and a challenge. She knows how to put them smiley faces in the chat box fast, and does many them Smiley Icon thingies.

My goal in life is to work in my spare time, I want to work when there is nothing else fun going on my life, therefore my Islamic worker should also be able to enjoy her life doing as she pleases and work when it is convenient.

I feel a special pride today, one of the comments below the post titled Islam before Judaism said,

Maybe visit a mosque sometime and not Ko San Road.”

Why do I take pride in this comment, because it is obvious he is not aware of the Islamic countries I have visited or truly anything about me…? If you read, many Travel Journals there is a never-ending dialogue in active voice, speaking as if the writer is an expert.

I take special pride when someone tells me I know nothing about some subjects, even though I am 100 percent positive I know more than the majority. The reason is this, to be open-minded we need to write and speak in passive voice more, be less than perfect. Humility is to me is the acceptance that I am human, I make mistakes and I allow you to see my mistakes. If someone reads one of my posts and thinks I am an expert, then I am representing myself arrogantly

Now I do realize, I am arrogant, I am over confident, and I have no use for listening or reading too much noise from every Tom, Dick and Anonymous reader that never left their country.

And, I by nature bait people, it is me, what can I say, I often enjoy using words in a twisted manner and all or nothing stereotypes. I want to know if the person weighs me by my intentions or by my words. If all they can do is pick and choose words I have misused by design or accident, they are incapable of critical thinking. Fun stuff these politically correct people, they also seem to come into my world the most of the time when I am in Thailand staging my next trip.
(Why Thailand...? I think their underlying charaters is perverted.)

With each year that passes, I have less use for the developed countries of the world. I will do about anything to avoid the incessant desire of people from developed countries to look for a reason to argue or say another person is wrong. Yes, I hate what I see in myself, I see I have this type of behavior ingrained in my mind and culture; I hope to one day travel outside the developed countries long enough to stop finding fault with every word a person says.

There are swarms of people on the internet who’s only desire it to somehow get the chance to feel powerful by telling others they do not know something. This is truly gets high scores on the sad-o-meter.

Stereotypes are real, they exist, and however one day I hope passing judgments, having contempt before consideration ends. The sin is not the stereotype, the sin is refusing to look at both side of the stereotype, admit they exist and be pre-warn yourself not to pass judgment and be introspective enough to know everyone stereotypes in every moment of the day. Weighted opinions, good judgments require us to socially group people into cluster or stereotypes, and then to remember and individual deserves to be treated as unique.

I know the God Gods will judge me by my intentions and for this I am grateful, and a grateful person has faith.

Loy Krathong

Loy Krathong
Loy Krathong is a Festival in Thailand where the Thailand people float flowers arrangement on the water. Chang Mai is probably the best place to see this festival because of the Moats and the Rivers in the city. I would especially recommend people to see the Khom Fai or what I called Candle Kites, this is a special treat on planet earth.

"Loi" means "to float". "Krathong" is a raft about a handspan in diameter traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk (although modern-day versions use specially made bread 'flowers' and may use styrofoam), decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles, incense sticks etc. During the night of the full moon, many people will release a small raft like this on a river.”

This is a Khom Fai, a fire lantern, or a kite that flies because of the heat of a candle.

IF no video here, you need to read on the blog, and not by email or RSS feed, click here: Travel Journal

This video show the Khom Fai and how it works, I truly think this thing is wonderful, in the movie “The Beach” Alex Garland shows or alludes to these floating Khom Fai, and truly is a great use of local culture inserted into a Film.

I have a good page of photos here that shows how they make one of these Khom Fai. As best I remember they cost 50 Baht or about 1.25 U.S. Dollar, truly a wonderful experience, one of the ones I think everyone on the planet should see one time in their life.

This is the remnants of a last nights celebration, floating in small gold fishpond in my Hotel.

Small floating bundles of flowers and banana leaves with a stick of incense in the middle. I truly believe the world would be lost without incense sticks and have no idea what they did before they invented them. They are used in most Asian religious ceremonies.

Islam before Judaism

Islam before Judaism
It is 7:30 am in the morning, I just returned from taking some video clips of real Thailand Monks collecting Alms in the morning. I think this type of Paparazzi invasion of a religion makes me vulnerable

I sit down to eat a couple bananas I snagged at the morning food market near Khao San Road and I see this Israel man standing about four steps behind the Islamic women and waiting patiently.

I finished two bananas, and was watching this quiet interchange, finally the Israel man walked up to the counter. I think for a while I thought he was with the girl and waiting for her. I realized he was trying his best to be patient and polite. He just wanted to pay for the night and leave to go walk around, the Islamic women was incredibly slow.

I had one of my Betazoid moments, I could feel what he felt, and I was weak.

“I am trying to be polite; I am waiting for this religion that wants to commit genocide of my people. Can’t they see we are trying our best, please make room for me.”

--- They drop bombs into Israel and they are supposed to be tolerant, truly a patient culture.

I have recently been trying to figure out where manners lie, how manners work, who has manners. When I walk down the street the Thailand people and the majority of Foreigners refuse to share the sidewalk, it is if they are so wrapped up in their own world they do not know the rest of the world exist.

The Israel man was extremely polite, however, there is limit to tolerance, and I respected the man for his patience. There are not many races of people who can say the world tried to exterminate them…

I have little ways of finding good people quickly, one of them is when a person is willing to share the space, recognizes that there are other people around him or her and is willing to wait or sacrifice. This is rather simple to see when I walk down the sidewalk or road, some people move to the left or right and allow others to pass, while others walk straight as if the world was theirs and they have no reason to share it with the rest of the world.

It truly sucks being a Betazoid.

Work is Like a Second Child

Work is Like a Second Child
I need to make money, it cost money to travel, my first Child goes by the name and the newly born second Child is,

Being an owner of a business is like a family, for the majority of my life I was self-employed, the business I did in the USA was my first Wife, I have divorced her.

I now have these two Children, was born in Panama in year 2000. was born in 2008, therefore the older child is already on his way.

It has been eight years since I had a newly born website, I am set in my ways, however for the sake of my new girl I must pay attention and remember all children are not the same.

I spend many hours learning how to treat this new Baby Huey Website, I am amazed how the world has changed in the last eight years. I have really been traveling and less worried, this new baby has taught me some lessons.

Working on a website is tedious, boring and a job I am starting to believe should never be recommended to anyone. The odds of doing well are in my guesstimate, about 1 in 10,000, I know when I am talking with some new parent of a website, I can say,
“You will probably never in your life meet another person who makes a good living from a website.”

They will say,
“I know Joe, he makes money.”
I can always say,
“Joe make website for other people, he does no live from his website.”

Now, there are a lot of people who work on and make good money, I know about three of them.

I talked to an owner of one of those startup websites yesterday on, he was talking saying they were finalizing a new funding of a site, I suppose he is dealing with “Burn Rate.” He needs to pay some high priced coders, I am worried for him, maybe his site burns out before he can find earnings.

Well, I have been surfing around and learning about websites, I am happy to say I can feel myself going onto level two of internet sites. I first had to prove to myself I knew how to make money on a website, I am now going to prove to myself we can make some truly professional and beautiful websites. this week is rolling out with a new dress, she is going to be 3-4 times more professional looking and in the next three to four months she will become 10 times more professional.

I am amazed how much work is involved in doing truly professional site, I am just the parent in this new one, I do very little work. I am more or less a American Football Coach to the site. I push, shove and drive the players to achieve.

Sometimes I want to say to the workers,
“Average is for losers.”
“Perfections is the only choice.”

I am fortunate, I should thank the Internet Gods, we now have three PHP coders who diligent come to work everyday. The work out here in internet ether space, on various sides of he planet. Two are from India and one is from Egypt. Boy genius has two new girls PHP coder to play with, and he is up to his ears in strange new time problems for him. He has always worked alone, or with me, now he must work with two others people who have daily problems and questions.

I told my one friend in the USA, if you know how to make money on the internet, if you can see how this is done. Then the next step is to put humans in front of computers and have them type.

One time I calculated how much money it would cost to make a huge website paying a person 25 U.S Dollars per hour. I figure it cost 250,000 US dollars. I know there is about 1600-2000 specific small task that need to be done to any site before it becomes great.

The other day I had a insight, I wish I could talk about this, or write it out, it does help me to write. I know the more I talk to myself, the more I am on the correct path.

Hmm, I just realized, I need to do a private diary on the new insight, I can just type if out and erase.

Well, my two babies are doing well, I am happy about the new dress is starting to take shape.

Once maybe two times per year I return home prepared for Bear with a long todo list, normally on the list is the duty to pick up one or two books I purchased on

I only have one book on my list this year so far, I will return for Thanksgiving, therefore I need to purchase the books now so I can pick it up later.

I was asked the other day, which books in 2008 motivated me to travel?

This question is a silly for a real traveler, it presumes I was not traveling.

However this one is not,

“If you was carrying 2 travel books beside a guidebook, which ones would you say you need?”

I cannot purchase books, so I have no idea about new books for sale, this is impossible, unless I stayed at home and did not travel.

I have not needed a book for over 10 years, however I read about one per week, books choose me, I do not choose books. I read the books that happen to enter my world. Truly the art of travel is to be able to separate the needs from the wants.

I Telephone Interviewed my First Person Today

I Telephone Interviewed my First Person Today
I did a telephone interview of Ben Keene today, Editor of the Atlas of the World by Oxford Press early this morning, early night in the USA.

It was a nerve-wracking experience for me, as it was my first experience of doing an audio interview by telephone. Although, I have interviewed many people and taken notes, this is the first telephone-recorded one I have done with the intent of publishing the complete conversation.

I did a personal interview with Bjorn and put on of a Norwegian Expat who lives in the Philippines.

Learning the technical aspects, how to record, how to video, how to publish is a challenge, and then I have to remember to listen, keeping my verbal diarrhea minimized.

I am very excited to do Telephone interviews, this opens up the whole world to me, as I find interesting people, I can have a conversation and share our mutual experiences. All I need is a good Internet connection so I can use

I will soon be posting the conversation of Mr. Keene on the Blog to help people learn about the Atlas of the World.

I was excited to talk with Ben Keene; this will be my joy in doing interviews. It will allow me the great privilege of listening and learning from some truly interesting people on the planet.

This will be good fun and a great learning experience for readers and me.

I slice and dice my life, I do so many things in one day, and nothing impacts my day more than the conversations with the people of the planet. I would feel a great sense of triumph if I could feel that I introduced my family and friends to some of the truly interesting people on the planet.
How does one explain a conversation, how do I explain what it feels like to talk with person in the market in Mampong, Ghana?

If you want to be interviewed, or know of a person who needs to be interviewed, please contact me by clicking on this link. Contact Andy

If I get good at this, it will be good fun, I need to streamline the process so there is not technical problems. I hope to separate this off into another section of my site, because an interview is something different than just me explaining my world.

Blog is the Wrong Word

Blog is the Wrong Word
I have made over 4000 Blog entries in this online diary of sorts, I must have misread the instructions.

I thought a Blog was an online Log.

“A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log")”

“A frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links.”
----- (Funny, they put this in the right site.)
----- A Blog is more about Marketing and nothing about feeling or thoughts.

What is a Log?
“record of journey: a record of a journey made by a ship or aircraft, detailing all events, or the book in which it is kept”
- Encarta Encyclopedia Dictionary

I cannot find any Travel Logs, I can only find people who are writing Travel Articles.

Blog of Andy --- --- Travel Bag Design Survey --- Professional Traveler Bag

I know they spend hour if not days working on the perfect way to write something that is not authentic. I personally know I cannot learn much from staged writing, I need to hear the true story, the true feelings, the unedited version to know the person.

I feel bad doing a spell check or proofread, this is not me, this is a machine changing me. I make many spelling and grammatical problems, this is me, do you want to know me?

I think I should change the name, I do not write travel articles, I spend 15 minutes typing in my feeling and thoughts. If I wanted to write an online magazine, I would write articles.

I find writing my diary online interesting, it forces me to think more clearly, I have no desire to be too clear, this is not me, I am human. I often wonder if the world cares to hear the noise made of real humans, or do we now need a steady stream of promoters of self.

I truly enjoy putting all the links below, they help me, they reassure me that I am in a learning, that I am trying to understand my world.

Economic Sense and China Stimulus Package

Economic Sense and China Stimulus Package
I feel compelled to give my opinions on some ideas about the current global economic situation.

Khao San Road, Bangkok Thailand
Tuesday, November 11, 2008
Blog of Andy --- --- Travel Bag Design Survey --- Professional Traveler Bag

Yesterday, China announced a stimulus package that equaled about 20 percent of their Gross National Product.

---- Hyperinflation happens when a government starts spending close to about one-third the amount of money that equals the GDP in a year.

---- The decrease in value of the Chinese money would help them to sell their products.

The Dow Jones went down after this good news, or maybe it is good news, not to me, but to the world.

---- The institutional investors sell into good news.

For many years, every young naïve investor on the planet has considered the stock market stable, this is insane. However, these young enthusiastic, not too bright investors may help to save the day. They have been told; buy stocks when they are low…

They are low, so they are getting back into the market.

---- I think the Dow Jones will go down to 6000, and hopefully stops there, but possible to go to 3000, 5000 would be proper.

There are ripples of economics problem today that will turn into waves within the next six months. This is a new situation, the sadness, the pulling of money out of investments to be used for living expenses have not yet occurred. This is just the tip of this iceberg. Most of the world has yet to see the first ripple effect of this downturn, presently it located in the developed countries, about 20 percent of the planet, the 0ther 80 percent has yet to say hello.

Think about this, we are dumping money into the finance arena, to help encourage them to loan money, which by the way caused the problem in the first place.

Time for me to lobby, I wrote a letter to the editor 15 years ago, that the 30-year mortgage could cause a depression, this type of loan should be outlawed, the maximum allowable should be 20.

This is truly a Catch 22, the solution is to save money and deleverage, if people save money then this recession will become deeper.
