Kyrgyzstan or West Africa

Kyrgyzstan or West Africa
Spring is after Christmas and Europe is a very cold place, about the same as Canada and not the same as the USA. I really do not like Europe, however if the timing is right, I try to get close to Europe. When the timing is right. I may plan or could plan to go Kyrgyzstan, and I will and can call it Europe, or I can go to England and go south to West Africa, some ideas flopped on the table.

March and April, I think that is spring and after Christmas and some idea on the table, some maps, some plans.

There is this mountain range between Europe and Asia that is the line; I guess I would need to study to know where Kyrgyzstan is located. As I understand this, the Stan Brother by the name of Kyrgyzstan allows me to get a Visa on Arrival and is one of the best entry countries to start a trip to see the Stan Brothers.

I sometimes think of Finland and Norway, however think I need to go with a 300-500 US Dollar per day budget to enjoy, probably in Christmas yet to come.

Flying to England or Spain, going south to Portugal and taking a very fast train past Morocco sounds like a winner also, or to German and go south.

March, April, May, not important, but I am thinking.

I Hate Telephones

I Hate Telephones
I have a telephone in my room; it maybe is the first time in years that I have been able to call the USA anytime I wish. However, I now remember why I have no reason to live in USA or have a Telephone.

I think maybe it my friends and family, I need to remove a few more friends also from life, maybe the phone is just an annoying way to know they are not my friend.

I use Skpe.com to call them, it cost 2 cents per minute, and so easy to call as long at the time zone thins is correct. I have high-speed connection in my room, in another month, this will end, and I will not be able to call for another ten months or so…

I think everyone in USA screens their calls, they do not answer the phone, I will make it simple, I will never call them again.

I am getting older, I do not see any value in pretending people are my friends or family, this is nuts, I do not think a person is my friend who makes it impossible to contact them. There are some friends where it is always easy, this to me is my friends, I think friends that make me work, make it very easy to say goodbye. This is one thing that a traveler must understand and learn, they must say goodbye to casual friendships and remember that good friends are not work.

Book Review SMILE WHEN YOU’RE LYING

Book Review SMILE WHEN YOU’RE LYING
Chuck Thompson wrote a book, a man Jason sent me a burp, maybe this is blurp, I blogged it, Smile When Your Lying Then Jason sends me a the real paper book… Thank You, however, wish this guy Chuck had signed it so when I go trade it with Travis, Bob or Jeroen and say goodbye as a real travelers do with books. Maybe for a signed book, they would trade two for one. Books are too heavy and we do take them home, we do not have a home, we are at home already, we are traveling.

ChuckThompsonBooks.Com
He admits he was involved in travel writing,
“Trips taken largely written about, to create stories where none existed before.” Page 3

Ergo
“Smile when you’re lying.”

Chuck Thompson hovers he does not sit, and the pain, possibly pressure, binging on rage has forced him to the toilet, a.k.a restroom in the USA. I think Chuck is trying to sit down with this book, enough of the hover crap, real men do not hover or lie and the pressure has built up over the years. I think he needed to find a squat toilet to expunge these stories, and now he has told them. The story about Shanghai Bob, asking the question, do you want to find a sleazier place was what travel stories are all about.

I think this is how this book should be rated, according to how many days it may takes you to read.

- Two Day book if you are a wanna be travel writer.

- Three or Four Day if you do read travel writing. However, be careful, his writing pendulum has swung towards the bad boy style. I am always told to read this internet page, however I just cannot do so more than one or two page, then click away, however what I have read from Chuck could go here as he tells it in not-for-prime-time language.
http://www.stickmanbangkok.com/

- It will take a week or two if you do not read non-fiction and do not like travel books.

It took me four days, and that was pretty fast, I liked the book, there is some real funny travel quotes collected here. Chuck has read them all, and has recall memory, he can tell all the good one liners of travel. I fell over laughing when I read,

“Thais are the nicest people money can buy.” Page 14

I disagree, it is the Philippines, but nonetheless both are in the running for short-term rentals, or long-term take away. (Carry-out in America)

Notice how many travel writers start their theme paragraphs with a quote, I think it is a great way to stop hate mail, blame it on the quote, I did not say that, it was a quote.

I had to think, am I a person who does not like travel books, or travel magazine? Chuck says his goal or their goal of publishing the Travelocity Magazine, that is now defunct was, to,
“A travel magazine for people who didn’t like travel Magazine.” Page 184

I have to admit, I had no opinion on travel magazines, I cannot say I like or do not like, I just cannot be bothered to read them, so no way to form an opinion
.
I liked the book, it is a good read, and the four small stories toward the end of the book, wel, … I want to borrow, steal, and pay no tribute, put on my site. There are four stories, and after your read, he instructs you to pick. Choose which story is matched with which country, was it a German, French, India, or American person in the story? This is classic and clarifies in a way that only a professional writer does. Chuck know all the go-Pro toys, and uses them all, he has not forgotten the tradecraft. Writer or Traveler?

I have to ask myself, is Chuck Thompson a Traveler or a Tourist? Is he a Tourist Travel Writer or a Traveller or is it Traveler… Travel Writer?
Are you a Traveler or a Tourist?

If you want to learn how to be a travel writer, this book will tell you what the travel industry wants you to write, Chuck makes fun, sarcastically tries to destroys, but by saying what is bad, he tells you how to write for this industry. Personally to be called a Travel Writer is an insult, on the other hand, I also travel and I write about it.

I am now waiting for his next book, I have to request Chuck, now you are a tell all, stop hovering person, I hope your stay off the Travel Industry Nipple. Now, I think the wanna be Travel Writers, not me, (it is an insult) however, there are people on planet who want to know, if it is possible, can a person make money without lying, and in your opinion how does a wanna be do it?

This book is after you stopped lying, cold turkey, no 12-step programs, however I am sure still with a publisher or two in your pocket. Give up the map, tell us the path, share as a traveler would share.

Note, in the fashion of a true traveler, I will scrounge around for your next book on Khao San Road and buy a used copy, trade for it, or again beg to be sent a free one. Next time, sign it.

If I was the Professor of Travel, I would say,
Chuck go write three books.

1. Your rant and rave and the Shanghai Bob type stories that you have been aching to tell.

2. One on how to not write and how to write, this is the one where you outline why you smiled or are not smiling, and how to lie or not lie, up to you.

3. Then your Secret History to avoid hate mail, pretend it is fiction, then tell all, and we will pretend it was not true.

As a side note, to prove you ditched the lying smiler nipple, you have to go after Conde Nast, National Geographic because complaining about Lonely Planet is Cliché.

Then go travel for hmm, I think minimal of 3 years continuously, and remember, teaching English in Japan is not traveling, it is living in Japan. This book is five times better than Michael Crichton book Travel and I read anything he writes, and wish Michael had not written that book. Why does everyone think they travel, and what qualifies them to know how to travel.

Thanks, Andy the HoboTraveler.com in real time, on Khao San Road, the Center of the Backpacker Universe.

Number 1 and 2 Padlock Hasp Sliders
The best two zipper pulls for a backpack I can find on the planet, and still I have not been able to buy them. I want to make backpacks, probably the first run of 100 in Quezon City, Philippines; I am stymied to find the clear and present path to the factory.

I call this the Israeli Slider or the Israeli Padlock Slider, some company called Vision maybe makes it, I am not sure, and I named it the Israeli Slider because that is where I saw it, on some Lowe Alpine Bag, never to be seen again. A Canadian who purchased a bag from that the Mountain Equipment Coop. then I took this photo in Israel, ergo the name. It may be called a Hasp Slider, or Hasp Padlock Slider, whatever the case, it is hiding from me.

Canada Mountain Equipment Coop

I blogged about this many times.
Hasp Padlock Slider

I visited this company in Salon Ohio, and they seem to sell something, the problem is minimum orders and price. I need to go right to the factory I think or at least get about 20 samples before I purchase.

Number 2 best slider I have seen on the planet:
I call this the Philippines Padlock Slider or the Robinson Mall Slider in the Malate Ermita Area of Manila, Philippines, I took this photo of a slider on a bag made by Holiday or a.k.a as Concord.

I think the next step is to find a zipper slider manufacture here in Asia and go knock on their door. Alibaba.com is a hope, and I submitted the number one to the vendors, and got back a couple of years ago. Send us a sample, I thought, if I had a sample, I would know already where to buy.

I am high-speed internet and armed with Skype, there is more hope than in my sojourns in Africa where I leave the West Behind or is this the East.

This is a travel marker of my never ending journey, 10 years, and 77 countries as of today. Maybe 11 years, I really need to count better.

Anyway, I count it, in my travels, I have collected more emails and telephone numbers from the Philippines than about any other country on the planet.

I highly recommend a person try to count the number of email exchanges they made in every country. It is a great way to keep track of who are your friends.

Preparing Pineapple to Sell in Thailand

Preparing Pineapple to Sell in Thailand
Learn how Thailand prepares a Pineapple to be sold by street vendors. This video was made in the hope that people in West Africa can earn more money selling Pineapples using this method of preparation. It is a good idea that needs pass along.

This is a gift to West Africa, a good idea… from Thailand.

This is what happens when a Thailand girl or person puts there hands on a Pineapple, what comes after they finished is great to eat.

I travel round and round the planet earth, I see a good idea in one country and wonder why they do not use it in another. It is hard to come up with an original idea and sometimes I think,
- All the good ideas… have already been taken. -
Note… allthegoodideas.com is now taken…

However, you make the stew, the problem to me is this, we need to share recipes, we need to share ideas, and good ideas could make a better life for a family. I think we need to pass them around, easy to do now with a video we put on the internet for all to see.

There are many Pineapples for sale in West Africa, and it appears to me, if the vendors of West Africa, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Ivory Coast etc. would cut up a Pineapple and sells this way, a family could have more money, and this very healthy food would be eaten more.

I suppose when I was there, I should have videoed the way West Africa cut the peeling off an Orange and sold it.

Thailand 2007 Girls Fashion Leaders
India style skirts, curls in hair, nose rings and something I called the pumpkin dress are in fashion here in Bangkok, Thailand.

Fashion is more important than food to people.

This is some India style or something skirts they are now selling in the Khao San Road area of Thailand.

There is also a new dress I call the Pumpkin Dress, whereby the bottom has elastic can pulls tight and up on the legs. The Thailand girls then walk around in typical Thai style of walk a small walk, often now with high heels. I have been trying to take a photo of this with out annoying the girls, I will continue to work on this when I return to Thailand, taking photos of girls is a good hobby.

Fashion is more important than food to people.

Nose rings are appearing on the faces, there is this head band around the head of many, and the straight hair of girls is being replace by curls.

This is about the same as the big noses on the foreigner, some of these things just are everywhere and hard not to notice. I think about Fashions all the time, I am not fashionable, however an observant person can see, fashions continually change around the world in a globalization way.

I not sure, I think there are some girls out there who want to know what the other girls on the planet are wearing. I am sure the TV Fashion channel is not on target, however this maybe is the real fashion. They way the Thailand girls copy the Japan girls fashion.
