HoboTraveler.com Spider Travel Method

HoboTraveler.com Spider Travel Method
I have many travel methods, from Golf Game Travel to Hop, Skip, and Jumps methods. This is called spider travel or wagon wheel, when you travel it is best if you have an idea of how you wish to travel, or you will become a manic traveler.

A person that is never happy and just continues to change locations daily.

This is spider travel, you make a jump, then land, and you then crawl out from the location keeping your base intact, the center of the web. One or two-three day trips and back to the center of the web.

Tourist are normally manic travelers.

Should I Write a Book

Should I Write a Book
A couple of years ago before Google.com came out with their relevant ad program I was preparing to write a book. I needed money, and it was the only solution to money problems that seemed feasible.

I am now at a writing meets challenge phase of life, I have written a lot of pages. I am not sure how many, however I have blogged about 3500 times and written 307 newsletters, so a lot.

I have X amount of typing desire per day. I willingly get on the computer for about 2-3 hours per day, after that time it start to make me angry, fat, disturbed and cantankerous. Moreover, I lose my creativity and open eyed view of the world as I am like an office work…, a factory worker…, a worker…, looking at my machine until I forgot I was once young.

However, I have decided to alter my travel methodology for many reasons and now writing a book should be easier to accomplish. I have decided to that I will try to relocate monthly to locations and travel from the base as a spider or wagon wheel.

Spider Web Travel?
Wagon Wheel Travel?

If you searched for hop, skip, and jump on HoboTraveler.com you can read about this is a method of mine. I am saying Spider Travel or Wagon Wheel is a Jump and then small Hops.

I Need Travel to Paradise

I Need Travel to Paradise
I have no control over where I am. I have 100 percent control where I go. Happiness in life, or travel happiness is my responsibility. Whether I am a traveler or living in small town USA the conditions are the same.

There is a thought in the back of my mind that sabotages my ability to be travel happy, the thought is,
- I need to go visit countries. -

The path is not always clear, there are times we just grin and bear it, and this is not what a person should do in life. I must accept that I am responsible for my happiness, then change the things in my life I can.

I do not go on vacations, I go to vacation spots and live for three to four months, then go on the next location. After I make the decision to live in one of these locations, I have no control over the location. The people I meet, the noise, the hotels, the neighborhoods are decided, until I move onto the next location.

There is a thought in the back of my mind that sabotages my ability to be happy.
- I need to go visit countries. -

I do not need to go to countries, I need to search for beautiful and happy places, where I meet people I enjoy to talk with and respect. The last three months in Asia, Thailand and the Philippines has been depressing. I just do not meet interesting people in Asia, all the friends I have in my email contact box are from other locations, I have one email address from Thailand.

I have been working on this section of my website called.
- Wayfinding Maps. -

It is not a joke; I am continuously trying to find my way, searching for “The Map” to “The Beach” as is insightfully explained by Alex in the movie “The Beach.”

In a way, we all go search for paradise, however, I think most people just grin and bear it, and pretend they found it, I continuously one day at a time for happiness. I do not just tolerate my bad days, I do not say buck up to myself, do not be a wimp. I know I am not a wimp; I can do anything I want, and will do just that. I will go do anything and say to hell with anyone, any place, or anything; I will escape all the headaches of life as best I can.

I am 100 percent responsible for my traveler happiness; however, I must take great care to remember. I am searching for paradise, and this idea of going to countries is not paradise, it is some vague stupid travelers bragging, nothing to do with happiness.
I truly do love to lie on the beach, read a book and walk around listing to waves, a bikini here, and a bikini there. I also love to walk around in Africa and have unexpected adventures. I have forgot the beach, I am promising to myself I will go search for this type of paradise again.

I think when I had a horrible time in the Caribbean I felt betrayed by the beach. It was not the beach; it was the Caribbean go to plastic paradise tourist trap that betrayed me.

Top History Travel Destinations

Top History Travel Destinations
What are the most important historical destinations on the planet? I try my best to read the World Heritage Site, however I forget. However, now I have found a simpler way, a map of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. I have added a PDF to the WayFinding Maps on HoboTraveler.com.

This is the long version of History, not the short version, it also includes Asia, China and Russia for the American that do not know there was history in Asia and not just Europe.

And, always can go to the World Heritage page:
http://whc.unesco.org/ and read, if the connection will open this site in Africa. Not.

I am putting on my computer for a quick reference, and also put on the Travel Downloads page, where I sort of list all the things I thing you need to download before a trip.

Hotel Room Companion Management 101

Unless you love Ants, the scourge of the True Traveler, try not to eat in the room, and for sure do not leave food sitting around as supper for the Ants.

I have taken food from my room, thrown on the floor in the lobby or halls of hotels to keep from having food inside my room. In this Hotel there is a nice rubbish bin for the Brits and Trash Can for the Americans outside my door.

The Thil girl ate some Corn on the Cob a few days back, a 15 Baht treat here in the Khao San Road area and took the old garbage cob and dumped in the can. Last night, she must have decided to do me some strange favor. She does say,
- My work is to disturb you. -
I say,
- Good work. -

This is one of them terms of endearment, truly is a lovable part of the girl that also leaves wet towels everywhere and totally disregards the nice clothesline set up in the room.

So, I guess she saved the last 10 rows of corn for me, amazing as disorganized as Thailand is, she felt a German propensity to eat in separated rows.

Do Five Star Hotels Check TV Remote Batteries

Do Five Star Hotels Check TV Remote Batteries
The minus one or one Star Hotels do not seem to check the batteries in the TV or Air Conditioner remotes.

Do the Five Star Hotels do this?

I cannot think of many reasons to stay in a Five Star Hotel, however if they checked and I knew 100 percent the batteries were good in the TV and Air Conditioner remotes, it would be a good reason.

If they guaranteed the internet connection it would also be a good reasons.

I remember walking from the Al Fanar Hotel in the Green Zone to the Palestine Hotels and using the 24 hour internet.

I had to bang on the door for five minutes to wake the guy sleeping on the floor.

The big hotel across the courtyard was no better, I thought, is this the way the reporters of the world have to work, no wonder they buy the satellite thingy.

Note, here is photo of the guard in front of the entrance to the Hotel sleeping. This is the Iraq guy, not the big tank the USA had set up.

A Specific Type of Beach

A Specific Type of Beach
I can be obsessive, on various subjects I could talk for days, months or a book.

I gave my head a shake, and said to myself,
- I am going to the beach. - I go to a Mexico Beach on March 11, 2008

I wrote a newsletter where I listed many types of beaches on March 24, 2004 from Koh Pha Ngan, (I now have expanded to 411 types of beaches.)

Something happened to me in the last two months…

First, a Travel TV show contacted me and asks if I would be interested in maybe helping comment on some beaches. I was sent the list and decided it was not up to my standards. Now, as I review my own thinking, I thought to myself,
- Andy, why do you think you know so much about beaches? -

I cannot just pass a beach, I need to inspect the beach, do some mental classifications and assessments.

I have collected over 411 types or ways to talk about beaches. However, I truly consider this sloppy, not complete job, just me playing around and started a list. I do not normally read about beaches, there is not much point, as I do not believe people who write or talk about beaches like beaches. The talk always seems to switch from the beach to the hotel, or more correctly the reserving of a room in the hotel.

I am going to Mexico, I have given myself some lecture, instructed self to remember some happy moments and go back to the beach. I am going to get obsessive, I hope to take this meager attempt to classifications up to 1000, and hopefully I can explain and give some samples.

Ok, I will get back to work; I will go back to the beach and do what I may do better than my knowledge of beaches. Girl Watching.

Frommers.com has an on topic or good example of a page explainng on target talk about beaches;

A Specific Type of Beach (Click on that link for the Frommers.com page.)

Quote:

I am hoping to find my dream beach in the Caribbean or Bahamas. Can you help?

I know there have been many postings to find the best beach. But I am being more specific, because everyone's idea of a great beach might have different criteria.
I am looking for a beach that actually has a good bit of beach to it! Some beaches are steep and dump right into the water. I am looking for the beach that is flat an level and gradually goes into the water. I am looking for a beach where I can walk forever out into the water and still have the water only up to my waist...not drop off dramatically. This beach would not be deserted...(but hopefully not over crowded!) and would have some tiki bars scattered around.

Get Away With it Country Prices

The longer a business exist, the more the local government supports the business and helps it to profit.

There is an annoying colloquialism I hear from Americans abroad,
- They can’t get away with that. -

I heard this in Togo from two well-intended American Volunteers about some of the behavior of the Togo, West African people.

I said,
- They can, and they do. -

Walmart comes into a medium size town or city in the USA, and drives one or two Super Markets, Clothing Stores, and Hardware Stores etc. out of business. Then you hear someone say,
- They can’t get away with that.-
- They can, and they do get away with that. -

When I am in Tourist Trap Areas, how can they get away with some of the prices they ask?
- They can, and they do. -

I was in Las Vegas Airport on my last trip home; the vendor wanted 11 dollars for a sandwich. I thought to myself,
- How do they get away with that? -

I was thinking about the difference between the USA and Europe last night, Ash made well-intended comment under a blog post of mine about a post called Euro versus Dollar.

An intelligent American wonders why a Walmart does not go up on every corner in Europe.

Every American complains about the Walmart putting the small business out of business with legal competitive prices, then goes to Walmart every Saturday to buy goods.

There is a reason in my mind why the European Union was created, so it would be able to compete with the USA in business.

To me a person needs to remember:
- The longer a business exists, the more the local government supports the business and helps it to profit. -

The business owners in Europe have had a strangle hold on their governments for years. The governments are sending this off to the committee called the European Union to stop the monopolies.

The USA is known for fast food, cheap prices on computers.

Yep, that is the case.

Andrew my techie in the India purchased about the same computer inside the country of India for 1500 US Dollars. A Hewlett Packard and I purchased my in Staples in the USA for 800, he asked,
- Why -
I said,
- In India they can get away with it. -

I am always amazed in Europe when I buy shampoo, and the price of the shampoo is often over five dollars per bottle. I think to myself,
- They can get away with it.-

I am a traveler, when I take the bus into a city or country that feels like a Tourist Trap, I often get back on the bus. I am looking around and seeing if any of the other tourists even know they are in the trap, or are their keepers just feeding them.
