Using Speed to Adjust to Jet Lag

Using Speed to Adjust to Jet Lag
The solution to Jet Lag is to stay awake during normal hours and to sleep when it is time to sleep.

It is not easy to force yourself to sleep, however I found a simple type of speed, a drug, a stimulant to keep me awake.

Vitamins

Some people have trouble taking Vitamins because they keep us awake; I am one of these people. I must take Vitamins in the morning or risk not sleeping in the evening.

Yesterday, I work up at the proper time, however at about 12 noon here in Thailand it was 12 Midnight in North and South America. My body was saying,
“It is midnight Andy, time to go to sleep.”

I looked at my Vitamins, thought why not, so I took two of the big multivitamins and I was able to stay awake until about 8 pm.

I do not fight Jet Lag much, I for sure do not lie in bed hoping or trying to force myself to sleep. I just try to stay awake during the times I am normally awake. This is between Five AM and Ten PM at night, so these are the hours whereby I should try to stay awake until the bodies clock is adjusted, It normally take about two weeks and is not a pleasant experience.

I guess in contrast a person should not drink alcohol or other depressants during these hours where they should stay awake. I do know many people just party their way through their Jet Lag not really aware of days or nights.

I have no idea why Vitamins keep me awake, however for sure they do.

Travel Water Bottle

Travel Water Bottle
I purchased a King Lizard size bottle of Coca Cola today; it is two liter of heavy liquid.

What is the most common water bottle on the earth? It is the most recent bottle of purified water purchased by a traveler or tourist.

Two Liters of heavy liquid, this is a Coca Cola bottle with the Thai Language label. I needed this bottle to learn what the largest bottle I believe a person could, would or may carry on the side of a backpack.

I am measuring this bottle, and will create a way to carry this size bottle and NOT HAVE IT FALL OUT of the Backpack. I do not use them quick load mesh pockets often, because things like to quick unload.

I drink about 1.5-2 liters of water per day in my room, not counting the water or other drinks as I stroll around the world. Therefore, I figure a person needs about 2 liters of water, or could on rare occasions carry two one-liter bottles. I suppose with a family and kids some unlucky person could be carrying four liters.

Cutting Up a Backpack

Cutting Up a Backpack
I am ready to harvest body parts from my Kelty Backpack that should be used only for mountains, an excellent day pack for a trek; however, for the long-term traveler it is not up to speed, zero security.

I will cut off the backpack shoulder harness today of one of my two bags, burning my bridges, I will have no choice; but to make the final design for my Windmill Backpack a real bag.

I have all the parts strewn around my room, there are parts to make at least two great bags, the materials are incredibly expensive; they are the best possible materials I can purchase. I am having a little debate about the Spectra 500 Denier Fabric, sort of leaning back towards the 200 Denier Spectra; however, it comes in White, only white, because they cannot dye the material easy.

Skype.com has been my angel over my shoulder, I have tripled my ability to ask question and clarify, and I now just call up the vendors and drill them until they cough up the skinny.

I am excited, I am still trying to buy a sewing machine, there are four people with those peddle machines downstairs within one block parked on the sidewalk, I am sure they do not speak English.

I can see the bag in my mind, I have the shot, I will take it.

Budget Traveler

Budget Traveler
Runaway inflation, gouge me pricing, the world has placed landmines in my path, there is only one option.

Spend less, live cheaper, keep my feet on the ground more and less sitting in Airplanes, and travel slower.

I wish to invade either Africa or the South Pacific, the prices to fly and live in these locations is kicking. For the Budget Traveler, the person who doe not have unlimited money or a parent that just keeps giving, the time has come to pull in the reins and be careful. Slow movements are ok, rash, quick decisions and you may fly somewhere and not afford to return home as the price of Airlines Tickets increase so rapidly you either buy a two way ticket or just live in the next location.

Land Travel is always the best option for a Budget Traveler, a person who wants to stay in their imaginary Budget, I try to stay under 20 Dollars per day, and this is four times more than a few years ago. I am now trying to slice this down to 10 dollars per day; however, this internet is cutting my throat. I am not able to find a room for 5 dollars with an unlimited Wireless WIFI Internet Connection in my room. The best I can find is 12 dollars here on Khao San Road.

I have learned one big lesson, if you want WIFI in your room, you do not start to search when you arrive at the city, you must search from a high speed connection that is unlimited time prior to arrival, make a list of possible Hotels and find them upon arrival, it is almost too late when you arrive, it takes about five days to find the connections and by then, it is time to leave. More or less I have to hop from WIFI to WIFI connection, I cannot hope to find one upon arrival that is satisfactorily priced.

Medical Tourism Thailand or Where

Medical Tourism
I am in Thailand for Medical help, I trust Thailand more than I trust Central or South America, and not so sure, maybe more than the USA in ways, I do not have the money to buy USA, I can not do a complete physical in the USA.

This must be Medical Tourism; I can come here and have a Doctor or Laboratory work for maybe one-tenth the cost of the USA.

I will search for a doctor that cares about me, and does not advertise on the Internet and does not have an office in Phuket or Koh Samui or cater to foreigners, I want one that wants to cure and help people, not just wanting to suck out the money of foreigners.

I am here for serious medical concerns and not the elective situations like a tummy tuck, or face life, or the gender changes that probably happen here. I feel weak and sickly, I do not feel up to speed, I need to get this figure out, I do not feel ready to attack, I feel in retreat.

My kidneys, or something is painful, they told me I had a Parasite in Guatemala, I took all the medicines, my new diet has relieve 80 percent of the pain, however there is something wrong, my blood pressure seems good, but there is pain in my lower back area around the kidneys.

Thailand people do not speak English well; however, they do concentrate and are more diligent mentally than Central or South America. I for sure do not want to go to Africa and have a Medical problems, from my experience the best values for medical or dental work is in Thailand.

I am lucky, I will have a friend that can help me translate and communicate with the Doctors of Laboratory test people. Maybe this is what people need more than searching for a Hospital that wants foreigners; they need a translator that helps. I do not trust a hospital that is set up to make gouge levels of income from Tourist, I do think money interrupt the moral fiber of people, and they start making decision because of money and not because of need.

Money can make a nice person into a liar in seconds, they must truly believe people will believe their lies, a honest translator can stop this, if you can find an honest anyone that helps foreigners. Medical Tourism can be the worlds biggest scam trap if you are not careful, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I learn I was charge five times more than the locals, because I was a foreigner.

A Shortage of Farang

A Shortage of Farang
I think there is a shortage of Farang in Bangkok, Thailand.

Farang is the Thai word for Foreigner, maybe stranger, maybe big noses or something like that, it is not really a compliment, but is not a big insult either. It is the default name of the foreigners while they talk about us as we stand right in front of them.

Khao San Road here in Bangkok, Thailand was slow at Christmas time and now it almost seems like a Ghost City. There are still enough Foreigners to say there are people here, however in my long time association with Thailand this feels empty.

I believe there is about a one-year delay in tourism on the planet, I feel and hope the next few years become lean, fewer tourists, less nonchalant travel plans exist. I truly do not feel tourism is the best thing to happen to a country, the tourist come and change the country and almost never for the better.

For me there is not a shortage of Farang, there is still too many, I do not care if tourist know about the world, or the culture, or whether they are rich or poor. However, tourism is not exporting the good of countries, the good people stay home, they do not travel; they are exporting the lost souls and all their deviant behaviors. I do not fit in Bangkok, I do not have tattoos, I do not have piercing all over my skin, I do not have dreads, however the real kicker is I do not care to have any of the new trends, or even be bothered to listen. I just plan on being me, today, tomorrow and the next.

My friend Jeroen the travel agent here in Bangkok sometime says,
“You have on normal clothes.”
“You just came from South America; you should be dressed like South America.”

I say,
“I am dressed like Andy.”

We know and understand; the people are defined by their surrounding more than they are self-defined. A person can change 30 years of lifestyle and belief systems in less than one month in India, and remain stupid forever, you can see it in their clothing, they become a new person because in reality they never was anybody, they are defined by the mass trends and fashion of groups.

There is a shortage of Foreigners roaming the planet; I do hope this give people a wake up call to try introspection for a change.

My bag was opened by the customs or airlines people, they were not able to stuff the items bag in the bag so they put this have plastic tape over the gaping hole because the zipper was not closed. I am going to rethink my strategy on packing, the packs are too tight to open by anyone but me, they just will not repack correctly, and this is a security risk.

I wish the would leave a message on bag, I truly do not know who opened my bags, although the zippers of the Kelty bags I have do not stay shut good, so who knows, maybe the baggage people opened the bags.

I hope nothing is missing.
