Monetize Feeds with Feedburner.com and Google Adsense
Finally, Google.com/Adsense has officially given the go ahead to allow us Bloggers to make money from our feeds. I have not made crapola from my Blog up to now, as most people use a feed readers that were free from advertisements.

Ooops, not any more, Hehehe, I am not trying to annoy you, and make pocket change.

Confusing as it gets, I am still trying to figure it out… how to put ads in the feeds.

I had to sign up with Feedburner.com, and then I got a statement inside the Adsense, that Feedburner.com wanted to attach. The next day or later up pop this ability to monetize my feed. I then had to insert code into the template on blogger.com and now I waiting and hoping.

I feel confident, this all will work sooner or later, and sooner I hope.

Strange as it may sound, I have a popular blog, but I do close to zero to promote it or try to get readers. It has grown or not grown only on the merit of word of mouth. Now that I have some money coming in, I may just try to expand the readership.

Contrary to any illusions you have, I blog, I make Internet pages; do all this to do what I love to do, I LOVE TO TRAVEL, therefore I BLOG FOR MONEY! However, really the majority of my money is made from the site, not the blog, maybe this can change.

I have only made money indirectly from the blog, now I can make money directly from the feeds. I think I will go buy some Peanuts to Celebrate. I am sure I am still working for peanuts on the feeds.

REMF

REMF
An ex Vietnam Veteran taught me some derogatory Military Slang today here in Bangkok, Thailand.

REMF - Rear Echelon Mother Fxxxker

I have to change the F word to keep the Internet Gods happy.

I did not get a chance to have him explain clear, and not even sure I understood correctly, he could have said REM.

One definition from another site:

REMF
“MLA for Rear Echelon Mother Fxxxker. A derogatory term of US Vietnam era origin that's somehow found it's way in to the lexicon of British Army slang - probably due to repeated showings of Chicken Burger Ridge in the NAAFI. Anyone who is further from the FEBA than the person using the phrase is a REMF - the bloke 'in the rear with the gear'. Generally, if your laundry goes forward, you are a REMF.

I am often an arrogant traveler, not a tourist, I live out, I am not in the country, I am out of country. How long have I been out, over ten years and closer to 11, I am not REMF. I am on the front lines.

I write post for everyone, mostly myself, however if you are going to travel perpetually, want to leave home for good, never go back, then of course this blog keenly appeals. Then again, I do not really care, some are REMF, therefore I will read opinions from REMF with a grain of salt, maybe I listen, but with skepticism.

I know most opinions as comments about gear by reader are strictly REMF standards, or tourist grade.

Photographers Need Two Hard Drives

Photographers Need Two Hard Drives
I take thousands of photos per years, I have two hard drives, one in my computer and one external, and I will soon have three to be safe.

I am trying to backup 50-80 gigs of information on an external computer hard drive, an extremely difficult task. I realize now, to be safe, I should have been doing this for the last two years. I keep the small photos on the internet, now I am publishing the big one also to the internet and soon to three hard drives.

I sold some photos, I earned enough money to buy two computers, therefore the photos are evidently worth more than a computer. There is a point where some people realize, the information on the computer is worth more than the computer.

I meet many people who call themselves photographers, it just stand to reason, they need to minimally have two external portable hard drives. They could transfer from the chip in the internet cafes, however if I do not see at least one, I wish they would stop telling me they are photographers.

I have now received three
“Check out my Facebook.com profile,” Emails from my friend, I know he is not trying to annoy me; however Facebook.com and MySpace.com in my opinion are spammers.

I would be more than happy to check out my friends Facebook.com page, however I cannot do so without signing up, wherefore the statement is a lie, I cannot check it out, I must sign up, if the email said, sign up, I would not be calling it a spammer.

Bait and switch spam, I must sign up to look at my friend, this is the lie, I cannot Check out Facebook.com profile of my friend, it is not available to see.

Viral marketing spam, truly this is an invasion of my privacy, goodwill by Facebook.com trying to market Facebook.com at the expense of my friend. Therefore, if I do my friend a favor, and look at his or her Facebook.com, afterwords for the next 10 years, I receive more junk from Facebook.com.

I need and opt out feature,
“NEVER receive another email from Facebook.com.”

Ooops, I found one, I decided I HAD TO READ THEIR ADVERTISING CRAP to do this blog, they forced me to learn about Facebook.com, I really call this company annoying. They are not transparently allowing my friend to use his page, he must make me also sign up, this is not the way the internet has become popular, by forcing participation.

Anyway I do it, I am forced to learn about these social networks, I really cannot be bothered, they are not what I wish to do in this lifetime.

Sizing Me Up for Victim-hood

Sizing Me Up for Victim-hood
I have known for over 20 years that many people are,
“Volunteer Victims.”

Many people, maybe the majority wish to be victims, this must be true, the do it daily.

An anonymous reader made an astute comment below a blog that deserves reading:

“I am sure you really do also and have become a pretty keen judge of character. You know when someone is being sociable or instead sizing you up for victomhood. I tend to think the disease is bureaucracy in infinite forms taking over control of living. The person with the disease instantly presumes authority over you by virtue of job title. All reason and rational thought seems to evaporate and LORD do not ever deviate from scripted dialogue when trying to conduct business.”

On the post, I am Grateful for my Life

I want people to be agreeable, however I do not want them to patronize so they never make anyone angry. I have learn to keep my mouth shut is sometimes the best diplomacy unless there is a need to open it. This is decided when I know, the person is willing to learn, or I need to tell them I am not their present victim.

As an American Traveler, the Europeans constantly try to abuse or insult the USA and directly me, because I am an American. They hide behind some platitudes of “It is your government” comments, and I say,
“Yes, it is my government.”

This is a simple form of daily abuse, not creative, and more of a fashionable trend, tantamount to complaining about their parents. I normally just ignore, and realize this type of person has stopped their mental and emotional growth at age thirteen. There are many abusive people on the planet looking for victims.

I say on the bottom of newsletters,
“Plan your escape.”

I have zero annoying people in my daily life, I have a few that enter, and I quickly them kick out the door. I truly believe the insanely wonderful thing about travel is the ability to be completely 100 percent intolerant of people. I do not have to tolerate, or listen to anyone; there is no boss, old time friend, family, business associate that I need to listen too.

Although the art of not listening is to not need them, only want the people in my life. I also am intolerant of jerks to the Nth degree, I will literally throw them out the door, I just do not care, jerks are thrown, and tolerance is for victims and wimps.

I am tolerant of other cultures, I do not go looking for an argument or fight, however trust me, and many cultures are extremely annoying.

I am an Alcoholic, I have not drunk for over 20 years, however I remember one lesson I have learn the hard way many times. I do not allow a person to push my buttons, if they wish to antagonize me, annoy me, drive me crazy, it is not as simple as me getting frustrated, it is a matter of life and death for me. Alcoholism is a fatal disease, it is a killer. If a person wishes to make me their victim, wants to push my buttons, wishes to antagonize me, they better realize, I am willing to go to any limits, I will remove this person to stop them, I will do any and all measures needed to stop them. I refuse to be sized up for victim hood, it can be dangerous for the person who wishes to abuse.

I think this is the Motto of the Tourist Industry I live inside of,
“We size you up for victim-hood.

They want to know just how stupid tourist can be, so they can suck every dollar possible out of the naïve and accommodating tourist.

People Love to Spend Money

People Love to Spend Money
I just learned the other day, I am the abnormal person, and I do not like to spend money, while the majority loves to spend money.

I am always baffled why so many Tourist and Travelers spend great sums of money on Hotels and eating. I finally realized, their goal is to spend as much as possible. My goal has always to spend as little as possible.

Strange mentality these humans, no saving for a rainy day, just spend until the money is gone.

I am pretty naive, I always assumed people wanted to save conserve their money and get the best value for their money, now I realize the goal is just to spend it.

It cost 50 U.S. Dollars less here in Bangkok than in Manila, Philippines. There is some quirk of poorer countries, whereby the cost of living is higher on some issues than richer countries.

Sometimes it just does not make sense.

Like why are the Hotels in West Africa so expensive?

I am Grateful for my Life

I am Grateful for my Life
The last few weeks have been stressful, it is funny how I walk into stressful situations without knowing it, and I am so grateful when I leave. Then I ask myself,
“How did I do that?”

Nothing went right in the last three weeks, every friend I met was not right, every situation I entered into was not right, everything was impossibly complicated.

I could say I would never do this again, but that is fantasy planning of a life. I am just grateful to know that when things get impossible to understand, I can just leave. And I do not need to try to fix miserable situations today.

I have this feeling meter in my body, I will say to myself,
“Turn on your feelings Andy.”

I flip the switch, and I can feel I do not ignore them anymore; I do not try to say to myself, they will go away. I for sure never say, make the best of it.

The goal of any situations in life should be to make you feel more alive and powerful, to have more energy afterwards. Yesterday, I started to recharge my batteries; I will give up the resentments of the last few weeks and get on with my life.

Resentments is a wonderful word, it means to re-FEEL, a person that is angry when they re-FEELS a situation needs to leave the situation. I know for myself today, if I switch on that feelings meter, and suddenly I feel angry. Then I need to try to back off, back out, walk away until the meter says,
“Life is good today.”

I see many people try to turn off their feelings, to pretend everything is ok, to never admitting they are not happy. I have good days, I have bad days, and the secret is to have more good than bad. I know for me, it is more about saying no and walking away then sticking around and being miserable with the many groups of miserable people on the planet wanting others to share the sadness.
