Travel to Where the Dollar is Strong

Travel to Where the Dollar is Strong
The U.S. Dollars buys me more Thailand Baht today, just 1 or 2 more for a Dollar, therefore it cost a wee bit less to for me to live in Thailand.

I was in Mexico one time when the exchange rate went from 12 to 24 in one day.

I was in Ecuador when the exchange rate of Sucres made the cost of a Hotel room one dollar per day.

I was in Bolivia when the Argentina money collapsed, and this way over priced country became reasonable.

I am always trying to figure out a way to find these countries easy, without a fuss., I for sure cannot be bothered to do this daily.

I do not wish the money of a country to collapse, however when it does, I do know it is a great time to go and visit the country. I have my eyes on Iceland, maybe it is a good time to go to Iceland. I truly do not know how to monitor money over time EASILY. I guess I would need is a page where it showed a graph and compared world currencies to the dollar, then a Google Alert when something changes 30 percent.

The exchange rate up 10 percent, down 10 percent is not a reason to avoid or visit a country. However when the exchange rate changes by 50 percent, then time to go and see the place. This process can transform an ok country into a fun country. Look at Argentina, few backpackers went there before the collapse, now it is the trendy country to visit.

I was there before the crash, I remember walking up to a French Girl in this huge bus station in Buenos Aires and I asked,
“Have you seen anyone?”
She said,
“Nobody, you are the first foreigner I have seen in weeks.”

Now the place has been transformed after this correction in their currency from a highly overpriced country into the place to be, if I know Lationos, they will take a correction and install some errors again, so the cycle can repeat itself.

USA Man Wants Wife or Girlfriend

READER QUESTION:

I hope all is well.

When you have a moment, I would appreciate your advice. What city/country would you recommend that a man from the US travel to who would like to meet a women for a relationship or possible marriage? I am not interested in a P- (Boom Boom Girls) but would like to meet a pretty & nice woman from another country for a long term relationship. I guess what I am asking is - in terms of convenience of travel, overall beauty of the women & how much they like Caucasian men from the US - what would be a few of your recommendations? I am not well traveled and only speak English.

Thanks so much for any advice.

ANSWER

I do not like to answer these questions privately as I am positive there are millions of men in the USA who want a wife, or a replacement. I was baffled by the word “convenient,” however; I suppose it makes sense in a way; however, no relationship is convenient, they take work.

Hmm…

SOUTH AMERICA
1. Colombia - Bogota
2. Peru - Aeroquipa
3. Brazil - ?

ASIA
1. Philippines - Outside of the big cities.
2. Thailand - Difficult, very difficult, in small village.

AFRICA
1. Ghana - Small villages

RUSSIA
? Is Russia convenient, I would think not…

Are their nice girls in big cities, hedge your bets, easier to find nice girls in small villages on planet earth, they are softer, nicer and more family orientated, while the city ones are more opportunistic.

I have no idea on China, never heard much about this country, and for sure your English is gong to hurt. None in Central America or Mexico, I do not know of any Middle East countries, I am told Ethiopia, Uganda, and Kenya are crazy for Caucasian men.

In my mind the easiest place for a USA man to meet girls on the planet is the Philippines and he only one that speak English, however for sure a person would need lesson in how to avoid the P- (Boom Boom Girls) also.

Note, anywhere on the planet, put a USA flag on your bag, that gives the girls some help.

Note, if you go into bars as a USA citizen in many countries, I am sure you can meet some bad girls. I do not drink alcohol and do not go to bars; however, I see what the boys drag home.

In a way, this is not about how to meet nice girls; you need to learn how to avoid the naughty ones who see you as a walking dollar bill. First and always, do not spend large if you want to meet nice girls, just enough to prove you can support them in a decent manner.

Thailand Land of 1000 Smiles

Thailand Land of 1000 Smiles
Compared to Japan and South Korea, Thailand is the land of a 1000 Smiles.

My old friend Walt always used to tell me life is a comparison, I may be a slow learner however I finally understand his wisdom. Saying something is good or bad without a comparison is of little value. To generalize about a country has less value until I compare it to other countries.

I have never thought of Thailand as being the land of 1000 smiles; however, it may well be this in comparison to the rest of Asia. However, then again the Philippines may have 2000 smiles and Korea and Japan just a few, while Laos. Taiwan and Cambodia are at around 250.

I believe this 1000 smile thing may have came to be used around the time of the American Soldiers in Vietnam were taking furlough over to Pattaya, Thailand. I would guess the comparison at this time would have indicated Thailand as being immensely happier, and for sure, I would only give Vietnam today a 100-smile country status.

Travel Insurance Paid in a Taxi

Travel Insurance Paid in a Taxi
I do not walk from Bus Stations to Hotels, I do not walk from Trains, Planes to my Hotel or Hostel rooms. I take a taxi, I truly do not need great shoulder straps for my travel bag, as I refuse to walk long distances with my travel pack.

Why?
The most dangerous time of my travels is from the bus to the Hotel, I have 100 percent of my personal possession on me, and everyone can see this. The robbers know I have all my money, my camera, and any other valuable possessions, it is the time to strike.

I truly feel in danger in Europe when I am taking a subway to a Hostel. I have been robbed twice, and once was on a subway in Madrid Spain, someone pick pocketed me and took my passport, this was all they got, but they knew I was a soft target.

If any way possible, if the fee is under 15 US, I take a taxi, I consider it a travel insurance payment, plus a damn good way to make the first day in a country, the best possible first impression, and help the country get off to a good start.

2008 October 8 Enter Thailand leave Japan
I flew from Fukuoka, Japan to Taipei, Taiwan, then transited planes and flew on to Bangkok. I left the Hostel in Japan at 7:30 am and arrived at my room in Bangkok at 6:00 pm.

It is difficult to understand the sense of freedom I feel after being in the three expensive countries of Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Example:

It cost me 1100 Yen for a ten-minute Taxi drive from the Hostels to the airport in Japan.

It cost me 430 Baht that included the toll road fees for a one-hour trip to Thammasat University, in the same quality of taxi.

1,100.00 JPY = 10.9826 USD
430.00 THB = 12.5130 USD

If I had done the same trip in Japan, it would have cost me 60 US Dollars. Of course, I would not have done it this way; it would have been a series of trains, buses, and subways, making for a horrible first or last impression of a country.

I have been thinking, I am good at math, I speculate the majority of travelers never quite figure out how much a country cost. They just purchase saying to themselves,
“I have to buy this.”

The Ten Minute YouTube Attention Span

The Ten Minute YouTube Attention Span
Ever notice how the videos on YouTube.com seem to always be short and less than 10 minutes.

Why is this?

I am uploading a video about the cooking kit I use in hotel rooms. The video is about 11 minutes, I am worried that YouTube.com is going to moderate it and say,
“Video too long.”

I feel like I am being trained by YouTube.com to know the attention span of the average human.

Is the attention span of Humans incapable of lasting longer than 10 minutes?

There is something horribly wrong with this perspective of life.

Every you ever needed to say on any subject should never last more than 10 minutes, at least according to YouTube.com.
