Market Girls

If you walk up to the second story of the market there is a Canteen where typical food is sold. I took this photo from that advantage point.

If you watch the video, you will see that heavyset man trying to get me to follow him; I am never clear on why, but fun.

Here is the book “Hey Joe,” about the Philippines, this is too funny, however I purchased an autographed hand drawing of this inside the Yasmin hotel in Manila. One of my favorite hotels in a slimy sort of way, I would stay there all the time if they had WIFI interne, instead I need to stay in the Duck Inn.

I need to remember to interview this man in Angeles City at the same time as Harry the Horse. I need to track him down, this is always time consuming.

A Russian Professor by the name of Igor Panarin predicted TEN YEARS AGO the USA would split up in July of 2010.

“Mr. Panarin posits, in brief, that mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation will trigger a civil war next fall and the collapse of the dollar. Around the end of June 2010, or early July, he says, the U.S. will break into six pieces -- with Alaska reverting to Russian control.”

I was sitting in the VFW here in Bauang, Philippines, eating my two eggs and wheat toast for 55 Pesos when I noticed the spin article in the Philippines Star Newspaper. In this article, as is normal, I was not able to surmise it was old news, just repeated as if became new news.

This prediction in my opinion is:

1. Hokey and crapola because he predicted the month, July 2010, this destroys the overall credibility of the man.

2. Generally a good warning.

My prediction are this; there will be a steady throbbing, spastic type decline of the USA economy over the next 20-50 years. There will be intermittent times of prosperity, followed by steady diluting of the countries wealth. Sectors of the economy will go into depression, while others will come out of recession and thrive, however slowly they wil fail to thrive because their failure to think globally.

Now, that above prediction means little, too general, but like a vein of blood, the life of the USA will squirt slowly down until it bleeds out and the USA economy becomes the same as the underdeveloped world. More or less, we will have the same purchasing power ability as 80 percent of the world called the developing world, which is really the normal world.

The USA economy will be the same as the rest of the world as the global economies become homogenized.

This is happening in England as we speak, there are becoming fewer reasons quickly to go there for jobs, and the immigration by Eastern Europe to England has diluted the countries prosperity. Ireland, the Celtic Lion has become the country now where dreams are squashed. Trendy economies are just that a trend, the same thing happened in the USA in Dallas and Houston right after I left University in 80’s.

There is no solution, it is just the USA and Europe rising and falling in the history of the world.

What I look for around the planet is specific location where my purchasing power is optimal, while the moral turpitude is acceptable.

I personally plan to spend the rest of my life drifting between cultures; somehow, soon I will add the USA culture back into my melting pot. I will come to terms with my Tax situation and return to the USA for 2-3 months per year. I presently can earn up to 80,000 dollars and not pay taxes in the USA providing I am not in the country more than 30 days. When I go over 80,000 this will change, and I will be able to return to the USA, I expect that in the next year or two.

Nevertheless, I can drift between Asian, Africa, Latino, American and if I feel really rich European. The least amount of value for money is in Europe as the cost of living there is 2-3 times higher than the USA.

Fun stuff and poignant, however for the person who has been a good old boy, worked in a factory, went to war for his or her country and just followed the mass of people, this could be miserable.

Both my parents fit into this stereotype; they got jobs in Factories, one social level above the Farm. However, both of their factories went out of business when they were about 60 years old. They were lucky to have their retirements. However, the Union did not negotiate or guaranteed the money was in trust; therefore, they are slowly losing what they worked their whole life for.

Change is normal; staying the same is not possible,

People who lost large sums of money in this economic recession were never smart in the first place.

What does this have to do with Travel? Well, I travel the planet, getting a global view of the world economies, do you seriously expect me to be so stupid I never look around at the culture of economics. It is the same as looking a people cooking peanuts over charcoal, you just do not like me looking at you, dredging around in your mind, I am suppose to keep my eyes on the poor people.

I can point at poor people and you enjoy it, I am sure you do not enjoy it when I point at you being just as stupid and silly rich people. We all live our live as people with delusion of adequacy, however you are becoming poor faster, time to use your brain.

As a writer, put your zingers at the bottom, the majority of your readers will not make it that far, the abilty to concentrate...ooops.

My father’s prostrate cancer has spread to his back. I have may arguments with God, today I just do now know what he expect from me, I will try to do my best, he deals from below the deck.

Mom says,
“They had us go fill a prescription of 10 very strong pills which cost $50.00 each or $500.00.”

I receive this email today, I know my Mother and Father and if they are all in favor of helping the planet, I will expose the dark to the light.

Mom wrote today
Hi Andy, We just got home from your dad's appointment with the oncologist in Ft Wayne. I am sorry to tell you the cancer has spread and your dad now has bone cancer in his back. Treatments were discussed and your dad picked out the treatment he wanted. He had his first treatment today. They had us go fill a prescription of 10 very strong pills which cost $50.00 each or $500.00. They asked if we could afford them. I told them we would no matter what. We went to Walmart in Ft Wayne because I was afraid they might not carry this medicine in Angola. They said they were very expensive too but I said fill the prescription and when we used my Dana drug card it was not bad at all. Your dad is in pretty good spirits and he does not feel bad. The doctor said if he starts feeling bad to call him right away. This treatment is supposed to last for 90 days. We have an appointment Nov. 12 for a checkup again unless I call sooner. At that time, he will have more tests and decide if he has another treatment the same as this one. love prayers mom dad

God raises the stakes today, he put the bar just a little higher, he somehow wants me to stay the course and make good decisions.

I was planning to send a Press Release today announcing, this has to be God playing dice with the Universe.

“Top Travel Blogger chooses the Philippines for Medical Tourism, having Doctors check a lump in his back causing sciatic nerve pain.”

I have done three Press Releases in the last year I paid 360 dollars to for the last one and got close to zero results.
National Geographic Chooses Andy as one of Top 10 Travel Blogs

I have a list of 500 Travel Writers, Boy Genius and I have been working on a project for about a year. What a Charlie Foxtrot, one problem after another, to create our own Press Release system has required incredibly persistence on my part

This is not funny God, what do you want me to do or say, is this some type of joke. My father and mother are 75 and 76, they worked all their lives in Factories, they did what was expected, and they paid their Union dues. Somehow, and I do not ask many questions because I feel like going into predatory mode and tracking down people. Somehow, for some reason, their Pensions have been decreased. In the past they had the majority of their Medical problems paid for, then about 6-12 months my Mother has started alluding or saying things like,
“Now that we need to pay our own prescriptions.”

What is this “Now” stuff, what was yesterday?

These are my parents, I love them, I try to be patient, and I am overseas talking on the phone system, not easy to wade through emotional packed conversations.

50 dollars per pill, this is what the Pharmaceutical Companies want for medicine. My Thailand girlfriend is a Pharmacist, I am here in the Philippines, I suspect that Thailand is a lot cheaper and better for medicine than the Philippines. Maybe we can buy cheap, and send to them, same damn medicine, just cheaper because Thailand people cannot afford to pay the high prices.

This is truly a Charlie Foxtrot my parents have already purchased the medicine. I want to explain to Mom and Dad, if you tell me the name maybe I can save you hundreds of Dollars.

However, this is not about money is it? It is about my Mother loving my Father and wanting the medicine today. I love the both of them and do not want them raped by the Doctors, Hospitals and Pharmaceutical Companies.

Somehow, the costs of things in the USA have gone out of control, some of this is just difficult to fathom. I got a MRI here San Fernando, Philippines two weeks ago for 150 Dollars, I am having Medical Tourism month, where people can call, write and ask questions.

I am more or less saying to the Press, if you want, follow along, there is a real person, in real time, in reality trying to figure out what a lump is on his back and how to pay for it?

I do not have health insurance, this is my bang for the buck, this is me, this is not that unknown insurance company in the sky. This is Gods joke, he now is showing me my parents playing the same game, with bigger stakes, how are they going to pay, will they use all their savings, need to sell their house, and end up living meager lifestyles until they die.

I am somehow trying to give an invitation to the Press today to ask me question, call me, email me, and contact me about Medical Tourism. I can be their eyes and ears here on the ground. I have a need to go the Doctor I go to a Physical Therapist this morning at 9:00, not Lorma but Ilocos Regional, same Doctor Acacios, but half the price and close to my Hotel. I paid 350 Pesos at Lorma to talk with her, I paid 150 to talk with here at Ilocos, there is no clarity here.

Thailand wanted 13000 Baht for an MRI.
I paid 8000 Pesos here for an MRI.
How is Thailand 380 Dollars for an MRI and the Philippines charged me 150? I have them now on my computer I can send to my friend Jeff a Doctor in the USA to look at.

What I am trying to do with the Press, I am giving them a laundry list of possible topics, they can call me on the telephone, and I am in a great place to field questions and search for answers.

1. Types of problems the Philippines are good at serving.
2. Cost of Medical Tourism
3. Major Hospitals
4. Living with the Hospital
5. Physical Therapist
6. Doctors making their Rounds
7. Private versus Public Hospitals
8. Cost of Medicine
9. What is sold over the country in Pharmacies?
10. Pharmacist versus Doctors
11. Glad Hand Versus Critical Thinking Doctor
12. Friends while you wait
13. Cost of living in the Philippines while here for a Month
14. Airfare to various Medical Tourism Areas
15. Language problems of Medical Tourism
16. Physical
17. Laboratory Work
18. Insurance Coverage Overseas
19. Exercise in a Hotel Room
20. Cheap enough to get an x-ray
21. Not getting intimidated by the Doctors
22. Can a doctors from a sloppy culture do good work?
23. Reviews of Hospitals
24. Sites specializing in Medical Tourism
25. Interview, the doctor, not the hospital.
26. Southern India, Thailand or Philippines
27. Western Transplant Doctors
28. education
29. Forums
30. Plastic Surgery
31. Dental
32. Optometry Press Releases

I will try to call Mom again.

This is the real world, not some fairy tell about travel, I am always baffled why people want to read about fantasy travel, I know the USA people have slowly lost the plot, they live in a fantasy world where they allow business to convince them to consume at any cost until they are cattle fat enough to slaughter.

Is there Value in Calling a Professional Traveler

Is there Value in Calling a Professional Traveler
I have been toying around with an idea now for two years.

Are you planning an expensive trip?

I have been talking for two years with my friend Jeroen my Travel Agent in Thailand. As a team, we could probably answer about any travel question better than anybody on the planet could. I have paid Jeroen cash maybe 3-5 times, I will walk in and give him 1000 Baht. I did this after he helped me buy a plane ticket from Nairobi, Kenya to Bangkok, Thailand.

NOTE: He said, and I agree, he will not sell you a plane ticket for any reason over the telephone because this would skew his opinion and the value. Gee, he helped me save about 150 Dollars, 1000 Baht is nothing, five minutes on the telephone and my life was cheaper. He is like any travel agent; he gets annoyed when people call with no intention of buying.

While he is great with Visas and cost of plane fare.

I could answer question like.
“How do I plan a six month trip to South America?”
“Which country is best to retire in?”
“How to make money with a travel site?”
“Should I buy a round trip ticket?”
“Am I getting a good deal on a tour?”
“Is it safe to travel to Iraq, Africa?”

I have traveled perpetually for 11-12 years, I continuously moved, never staying in one place longer than three months. I have visited 85 countries. I speak Spanish and French fluently, I know Visa problems, I can evaluate a tour, give you suggestions.

Would you pay 5 dollars to talk to a professional traveler?
Would you pay 10?
Would you pay 20?

Well, Jeroen and I have been thinking about this for a couple of years, he is not excited, he believes people want something for nothing. I agree, but I also know there are a few smart people who have made bad travel decisions that cost them hundreds of dollars.

This is a travel insurance policy, it is a way to feel a little safer in your decisions, and we are not going to make the decisions. We are going to help you, and because we do not earn money from giving you bad advice, you win.

By way, I am not as strict and tough in person; I can be sensitive to your needs. I used to sell to real estate properties per week; I know how to listen as well as type.

1. Click on Telephone
2. Pay with
3. After you donate, the result page shows you my telephone number in the Philippines. (When I move countries, this number stops.)

If you want to call Jeroen, I will take longe to arrange with him, he has to purcahse a second SIM card number. He is more cynical about people than me, I understand, he deals with the young and foolish on Khao San Road daily, they want to go live in India and smoke pot... hehehe, the truly cheap travelers of the planet.

I truly enjoy these types of experiments, I know this is valuable, however sometimes it is strange to me how hard it is to convince a person something is a good idea. I called Jeroen up last week, I wanted to hear about the political status in the country, I wanted to know if the place was stable.

Please do not be jaded and cynical, I am essentially retired, I do not work very hard, I play on the computer a few hours per day. It is enjoyable to have projects, this is just another day in my life, not everyone has a secret agenda.

Never Never Open a Email
I received a truly sneaky email today, I still am not sure if it is real or fake, it looks very good. I have received similar ones in the past, the thieves keep raising the bar, these thieves are too clever.

I never click on anything related to, Western Union, or any internet system that has my debit card on file. I kind of need to open the emails just to check, but this is dangerous, truly a lose lose situation.

NEVER, Never, Click, I go to the site and check, this is an annoyance, and truly difficult for me to do. In Africa I sat on the a Verizon BlackBerry telephone call for about 45 minutes trying to get my reactivated.( does not like Ethiopia.)

Who knows, I am a smart boy, but to open a emails is unsafe under any and all conditions, just not worth the risk.

I got on Western Union yesterday here in the Philippines, for some reason it says I have a user name. I do not have a user name, I logged in with my email as the user name in the past. So I tried to do that send me a new username thing, it did not work, no explanation, just sat there doing nothing, unprofessional to say the least.

I suspect I am in one of the higher cheat-the-western-union systems countries on planet earth, the Philippines. I will now have to call, hello folks, I am not in the USA, I am sorry, I live a life less normal.... blah blah blah.

Hmm, there are few girls who hang out in the VFW here in Bauang, my curiosity is this, and how many men do they have lined up sending them money? The scams are endless, these are confidence games.

You trust, people know you have confidence in the system and thieve hook on to your trust of paypal and take advantage. Kind of a friend of friend recommended this person.

Girls say, “I love you,” a person that loves you would not steal… or would they, there is a financial moral high ground, often it is not theft in their mind, you are rich and I am poor, you can afford it. and Western Union are two players in the Soap Opera on Steroids called the Philippines, fun stuff, a never-ending story.

I went online and checked my account, I cannot find a problem, now I will need to check if a few times and follow up, what an annoyance.

Philippines Man Says Work for Your Own Country
This video is about a Philippines man who worked in Taiwan, then returned to the Philippines to work. I was chatting with the Taxi driver in the city of Baguio, Philippines a few weeks ago when he described what I suspected for years.

Working and living overseas is not always the best choice.

I do not live overseas, I visit countries and live for a short time, then when frustrated or burned out on a culture I move on.

Do the good die young? I had a Swedish guy make fun of Americans; we have a “Readers Digest” view of life. I was impressed that he understood the American culture so well, but sad he did not appreciate the wonderfully genius and corny world of Readers Digest. I want to scream, it is an ideal world, not your jaded world, people fight hard to keep their dreams, real or unreal, please be careful, there is great danger when you interfere with a persons dream.

..something to think about...

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes, a middle- aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:

the violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:

A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:

A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.

45 minutes:

The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour:

He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities. The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this: if we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.... how many other things are we missing?

Need an even better fix, please go and read the original article by an Washington Post writer, a truly great piece.

Philippines I Refuse to Grow Old
I got sober, I gave up being a drunk by hanging around with people who wanted to stop drinking. I learned my lesson, I know the influence of this, do not hang around with sober people, it ruins your drinking.

I have learned my lesson, I know I must choose my playmates and playpens, there is always pressure to fit in, we are not emotional islands.

Hmm, I am here in the Philippines surrounded by old people, I am 53 years old and I feel like the young man. I feel I need to give respect to all these old, fat and despicable examples of human flesh. They are old, I should be patient, understanding, oops, wait a minute, I am older than a few of them.

I am surrounded, the Indians are circling the wagon train, soon I will die, death is coming my way… I am angry, I am going to fight this tooth and nail, and I refuse to go quietly into the night.

Ok, the bottom line, all you fat, old, ugly guys smoking and drinking and looking over half dead, do not befriend me, I do not want you ju ju juice, your karma, I do not need this ying of the yang.
(There are few if not zero old women here... never mind.)

I will politely avoid you, or when need rudely and callous, I will be as insensitive as needed to accomplish my goal.

See the chair? Look at the chair? I went into panic when I saw the chair…

This is my home, my swimming pool and when I say mine, I mean mine, I almost have it to myself, it is seldom used. I am alone on a deserted beach, quiet, reading a book and constantly reminded I am going to die. There are too many old people who have given up and accepted they are over the hill here, there is a constant battle, there is a refusal in my mind.

No, no, no, no, enough, I refuse to accept, I am too young to go down like this, I am not you, and you are not me. I need to go to Africa again or maybe to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

There are young beaches and old beaches, I have yet to find the young beach in the Philippines, maybe it is on Boracay.

I need to stand next to some young men, some girls in thong bikinis, I need an injection of motivation, I want to stay young.

This is great room, high-speed Internet in my room, an Ethernet wire; I can use and call all my friends around the planet and check in or check out mentally.

The Chair
I walked out of my room, with towel, baby oil, nose coat and a good book to read, ready to worship the sun.

I look over; I see the chair, the only chair, the only pool chair at this swimming pool. I knew it would happen I have been here for two weeks and never had to fight over the chair. The old women is putting her feet on it, she is not really using it. I thought to myself, I will go over and see if she will let me use it.

NO! This is the wrong move, I know I must be polite, saying hello, my name is Andy, and I am from the USA, blah blah blah.

“This is a dangerous move.”

I suspect, I feel certain, I am almost positive I am probably the only handsome white man within miles. The last thing I want is old women wanting to flirt, talk, or be nice to me, I do not want this for any reason. I will sacrifice the chair, it is theirs. Nothing on the planet make me feel older than women my own age flirting with me, who do they think I am, I am not old, they are.

I laid along the side of the pool and avoided them at all cost.

What is a resort, have you picked up on my muse, a few idle comments in prior post, does a resort have more than one chair?

The truth is pool chair are not needed, these two women were the first and the last in the last three weeks, and they left the next day and returned to me my pool chair.

Filipina girls watch cartoons, they do not lie in the sun, they refuse to get sun, they want to be white like me, what a weird world.

A good swimming pool has sun from all directions, as the sun moves across the sky a person should be able to reposition himself or herself so they can always be in the sun. There needs to moving shade, so your friends can lie in the shade, while you lie in the sun or whatnot… This pool is great for this, the only thing missing is the bikinis, zero, none, I saw one girl-in-tow Filipina girl worth a glance, but nothing worthy of a stare.

Want to get skinny, feel inadequate, fat, old and MOTIVATE. Go to Koh Pha Ngan beach in Thailand. Go to Rio de Janeiro and feel fat until you stop eating.

I should concentrate on the Best Beaches to feel fat and old, but MOTIVATED to stop eating.
Topless Girls
Rio, Brazil Babes

Playa del Carmen, Mexico used to have the most Topless girls on the planet, I personally do not like Topless Beaches. I suspect it has been taken over by the fat and old tourist group.

I suspect that Bauang or San Fernando was the place to be 20-30 years ago, all the men here were here then. They all came back to get try to find that moment in time.
