No Plane I am Still in Pucallpa

No Plane I am Still in Pucallpa
I went to the Pucallpa, Airport at 10:00 am and one or two later a couple of people arrived to leave for Breu. I never understood clearly what is happened, there is some problem with the manifest of the cargo. Nonetheless, at about 1:30 pm, I was told by the airline Norte Americano Airlines that the plane was ready, but it would not leave today.

The airlines people said it will leave early tomorrow, I asked,
“What is early here?’
They said,
“Seven.”

I suspect we may leave by 11 am or 12 tomorrow. I was getting a cloudy; I do not have a problem with leaving tomorrow.

I have been trying to contact the coordinator of Breu now for the last two hours, who is probably the only person who knows who maybe knows was could happen.

What is funny, before today I have been talking to Aero Andino, and Aero Diana, however when I went to the airport today, they said we would be leaving with Norte Americano. As best I understand, the Municipality of Brue probably charters whichever plane is available whenever they have sufficient cargo and passengers.

It is rather humorous, however not enjoyable to sit around waiting and not having anybody arrive to tell us what is happening. In a way, this is a form of forced serendipity, if I continue to try, eventually the good path will appear or not.

He was the perfect model, he never flinched or moved.

Oranges

Oranges, what do you think, do they make a comfortable bed?

This type of photo is what the Guidebooks like for covers of their books, they would use a graphics program to enhance the colors and make impact, I should have positioned myself to include his complete body in the photo, however the parents were watching me and I only had so much time of grace.

When to buy an Air Ticket

When to buy an Air Ticket
Travel Tip

Buying ahead is not the correct answer…
Following the advice of friends is not correct...

Trust you feelings, when a great deal arrives, you will know it.

There is no simple answer to this question, you should not listen to any carte blanc advice, buying plane tickets is an art form, it requires understanding the airline industry, and they do everything within their powers to stop you from understanding them.

The traditional advice is to buy ahead.

This is true and not true, at the same time, if you need to schedule your vacation months in advance with zero flexibility than you probably need to buy in advance.

If you are flexible, have great control over your appointments, vacations, times and other schedules than you may not want to buy in advance. This is me, I can travel about anytime I want, I can leave when I want, there is nothing controlling my time.

The airlines want to convince you to buy ahead, the travel agents want you to buy ahead, the internet is tricky, it will jerk you around, and you cannot trust the internet sites.

The airlines, the travel agents, the internet sites all want to confuse you until you buy, or frustrate you until you just say,
“I give up, I am buying the ticket.”

Patience is the solution, and not a virtue that is cultivated in today’s fast food society, the world hits the car horn without thinking.

My strategy is to start searching for a ticket two months ahead of time, and then I do daily searches up until about one week before I want to leave. My goal is to learn the market, I see how they price, I learn their strategies, this is the goal, and we wish to learn the strategies of the airlines. Every time I buy a ticket, I must learn the strategy again, every air route is different, they are not the same.

In minutes a ticket can change from being cheap to expensive, and the converse, an expensive ticket can become cheap. If you understand the daily rhythm of the airlines tickets, then what happens is one day you find the ticket and you know it the day to buy.

If you have no patience for this, or maybe you buy First Class Plane Tickets, then this advice is not applicable.

Trust you feelings, when a great deal arrives, you will know it.

I presently use Kayak.com and Travelocity.com to learn the strategies of airlines. I test and try many systems; I am always on the look out for something that is truly different. I often am searching every day on the internet and then go to a travel agent to purchase the ticket, I have no set strategy, I can only give you guidelines.

They all promise the best deals, this just is not true, you never know which site is going to give you the best deal today.

90 percent of the time, I buy a ticket within seven days of leaving, 10 percent of the time I purchase about three week ahead, I never purchase a ticket more than a month ahead.

No Plane Today and it Started to Rain in Peru

No Plane Today and it Started to Rain in Peru
I spent the whole day waiting for these puddle jumper airlines to tell me we was leaving. They finally told me about noon the reason for the delay, they was waiting for a Bus to arrive from Lima with some cargo destined for Breu, Peru. Finally, at about 2:30 I went to the airport of the second time and got the skinny, or at least some gut level feeling of what was happening.

They gave up about 1:30, however since there was not flight, there was also not need to call me, this is the way of the world, if there is no money to be made, then why be considerate. I told the receptionist who was helping me in my Hotel, it is foolish to wait around for them to call, they cancelled the flight, and I have enough experience to know they will not call. She kept trying to tell me to wait, I do not think the mental matrix every enter her brain, there is never ending ability to eat the ideas that are fed, regardless of the logic.

I went to the airport to look in their eyes, I knew the eyes would tell me the truth, while words of just noise.

It started to rain on the way to the airport, I suspect that the airport in Breu is muddy, it is about 6:40 pm Peru, Time it has stopped raining, who knows, maybe the grass runway will be hard enough to land tomorrow.

I am always amused when I hear stories about delays by airlines, there is always a better story, a bigger rant, another story that tops the last one.

I will leave, when I leave.

Employees often can manufacture a 1000 reasons to not work, here in Peru there is a man who will not let anything stop him, I think this is the most intense desire to work I have ever seen.

Breu Peru Cargo is Maybe High Priority

Breu Peru Cargo is Maybe High Priority
I paid three Soles and went to the Pucallpa, Peru airport to checkout possible flights to Breu, Peru. Areo Andino does not appear confident they have enough cargo or passengers; they are waiting for a call from Brue. Aerodiana seems positive; I need to check in with them very half-hour to keep my name, “Andres” in their brain.

The airport is close, it is three Soles one say, however if you are getting off the plane the go for seven Soles.

It was interesting, I am going to a rather landlocked location, isolated and difficult to enter. I right tend to believe that cargo is the deciding factor on airplanes to Breu, if there is enough Cargo they will leave. The ground is dry, it is hot and hotter, and there is no problem with rain today.

There used to be flights in Bolivia whereby you paid by weight of your body. It is possible they try to induce me to pay more when they see my one bag, however I would think the majority of passengers to Breu are loaded with tons of bags.

I suspect the planes returning from Breu are lighter, and maybe one of the reasons they are waiting for a call from Breu is to see if they are ready on their end.

The plane flies to Breu, and then returns to Pucallpa, they want a fully loaded payload on both legs of the trip.

I was told there is Satellite Internet in Breu, however another maybe in a long list of maybes.

Yes is Maybe in the Developing World

Yes is Maybe in the Developing World
Travel Tip

“When you hear a yes or no in the developing world, quickly remember to rephrase the word to “Maybe,” in your head, however please do not tell them, it is not polite.

My Mother wants me to write her when I am ready to leave for Breu, Peru.

Mom, Yes, I am ready to go, “Maybe.”

I truly wish it were possible for a person in 20 percent of the countries like the USA we call developed, to understand the people who live the other 80 percent of the planet like Peru are different.

They are normal, we are abnormal, and I am from the USA.

I am 100 percent ready to leave by Plane today for Breu, Peru.
My bags are packed.
I am telling you I am ready to leave.
I may leave by airplane today.
Yes, I am leaving today, but then again maybe I do not.

I am in Peru, it is developing nation, so this means a “maybe,” the word “yes” always means “maybe.”

You can trust people, however please understand yes is not translated the same here as in the USA, Europe or Australia. (Should I include the French, Italians or ... etc in this list?)

When I am close to traveler or tourist and they tell me something about a country, it is easy to suss out how well they understand cultures. If they say absolute comments, such as,
“the Guide is coming exactly at 10:00...”

I know they do not understand the developing world. Now, there are people that have lived in the developing world for 20 years and still say things like this, they never learn to adjust, and often this person is perpetually angry or a hermit. The majority of expatriates in developing countries become the same as the locals. They are late, they do not care, and they are not committal or responsible they are normal people on Planet Earth.

Then again, the long-term travelers, the expats of the planet, are indeed the “wanted and un-wanted,” or they would not be traveling.

When you hear a yes or no in the developing world, quickly remember to transpose the word to “Maybe.”

There is a phrase in the Christian Bible where it says to let your yes be yes and your no be no. This truly makes sense when you understand the primitive cultures. When I have a friend that does not make a yes a yes, or a no a no, I know they are acting natural, this is the natural way of living, it is not our nature to committal, but a person is one step closer to Sainthood when a yes is yes, and a no is no, because we can be trusted.
