One Key Person Makes Hotel WIFI Work

One Key Person Makes Hotel WIFI Work
Wireless Internet connections between my computer and the internet, that little mysterious wavy thing that goes through air works in Hotels rooms when one person is involved.

When the owner or manager uses it also…

Wireless or WIFI in Hotels is at best iffy, nothing is sure, to truly have internet in my room whereby I can work, I need to have about three hotels in any area that have WIFI, then be willing to move when one the owners or managers does not work.

Wireless internet has this router, it sends out the signal to my computer that gives me the connection.

I think maybe best to describe WIFI,
- Do not touch it or it will break. -

If the person in the Hotel that is in charge of the Internet connection, plus actually uses the WIFI connection this optimizes my chances. It this person get out of the way and allows me to help maintain the uptime signals, I may also maintain a connection.

The majority of people are control freaks, they say 24 hour connections, however if there is a problem, we will get around to repair it when we wish too, not when I want to work. I do not think they understand the phrase 24 Hours.

When I buy Hosting, they will lie and say things like 99.9 percent uptime, the site is suppose to up 99.9 percent of the time, the truth is they have no idea, this just sounds good.

WIFI in hotels is maybe 30 percent uptime, if I enter three hotels only one in three will work.

Price of the room is everything, a person who pays 100 U.S. Dollars per night is not living in a city, they are on a business trip or vacation. This is not a Mobile Office, it is working or living for a few days in another location.

Maybe the use of my words is wrong, maybe when I say Mobile Office, I should be saying something else. A small business is not going to pay 100-150 U.S. per day for a one-person office. When a person goes and travels and pays 100 U.S. Dollars per night for a Hotel room to have an Internet connection. They are paying 3000 Dollars per month to rent the office.

The price of the room does not guarantee a connection, I continuously learn I need to search for a person, a manager or owner that has WIFI in his or her hotel that they wish to use. The owners rarely care if I have a connection, however they do want to have the connection for themselves. Many time the sons or daughters want to have a connection and have influence on the owner.

I am wanting to take a small truck tour around the Lake called Lago Atitlan, I have been searching this morning for maps. The best so far is on this page:

Map of Lago Atitlan - Cities around the lake

Small Truck Tour: The public transportation of the Mayan locals, a truly great experience to jump in the back of a small truck with the real people who live on this lake.

I am working to learn the difference between Google Maps, Google Earth and how to put these maps on the blog while flying low.

I think that is a Metaphor on how I travel…hehehe

Kilos Vs Pounds Laundry Scam

Kilos Vs Pounds Laundry Scam
I forgot all about the ever sneaky, scammie ways of the Latino world, I took my training, made my bones in Mexico for Travel, one of the most corrupt, dishonest cultures on the planet.

Today, I went to a couple of places to have my laundry done and remembered what I forgot…

I have had my laundry done for years; I know my laundry weighs between 2 and 5 kilos, and normally about 3-4 Kilos.

1 Kilo is 2.2 Pounds.

I took my laundry into a place, not sure, what they were doing, but I they used a scale for pounds and said it was Kilos, whereby they doubled the weight. I went to the second, and told him of the swindle so I could get the weight done closer to correct, the scales are pulled and sprung and do not function correctly, too loose, therefore I only paid for one extra kilo in the second place.

Tramposos

If you want to be fare, take all the clothes in your bag to the delicatessen or post office and have, your clothes weighed before you leave. Figure out how many Kilos and Pound all your laundry weighs, then you can guesstimate the weight when you have your laundry weighed by the ever-crooked world. This also helps you to know if your bag is over-weight for the airplane.

Tourist, nobody volunteers to be cheated as well.

Waiting on Windows Explorer

Waiting on Windows Explorer
I click on the computer folder to my web site, up pops this flashlight, I then wait for it to open, or correctly, I go do something else while the computer is working.

I am curious, what is happening, is this a parse, I am sure something indexing is happening?

I made the flashlight (Torch for the British readers) graphic huge, however this is what I see, this flashlight waving back and forth and I get to wait.

In brief, I think this is why the internet is sometimes slow, this process is happening on some remote server or host on the other side of the planet and we are waiting. I am always amazed that Google.com can do something similar at what to me is the speed of light.

Somewhere in this query lies the explanation to speed, I added another 2 Gigs of RAM to my computer hoping to make that flashlight disappears, however, this was not a good investment, no substantial gain was made.

I am positive my brain is faster than a computer, however, a computer never forgets, the retrieval process always works. The world is being indexed, categorized, labeled and served up to the minds of men, thereby negating any need to try to remember. I focus on retrieval of information quickly, not the remembering.

There must be some great minds out there in computer never never land who work continuously to put that flashlight away.

Never Trust a Hotel Clock

Never Trust a Hotel Clock
Never trust a hotel clock, and you can never find a clock in an airport, not that time has any meaning in the Latino World.

I was leaving Antigua, Guatemala the other day, packing up my bags, semi-waiting for the shuttle to Panajachel. I was just outside my room, I looked down at this clock. 6:30, oops, I am early, I go back in and check my alarm clock, no it is on 7:00, however, I know it is best to check. I go to the front desk area, and look at the clock below.

Not a good picture, however this clock is closer to correct. I have learned though, I must be the keeper of good time. Sometimes it takes a few days to decide what is the correct time. I must have about three clocks concurrently agree, this is often a task in the Latino world to find a clock. Nobody is ever on time anyway, why would they need a clock, being on time is the lowest priority with Latino and they deserve the small amount of money they make.

The default clock has become the cell phone or mobile phone, strangely this accidentally carrying of the time, the keeping of time, the knowledge of time has made being on time more normal. The holder of Mobile Phones like to play with their phone and look at this gadget, their minds are captivated by the toy, I wish was a tool, they would make use less.

The travel tip here is a person must be their own keeper of time, they must also collaborate and triple check the time before they trust they are correct. I keep the time on my computer correct, and also the alarm clock, sometimes I keep my cell phone correct, however it a tool and I do not always need this tool, I go whole countries without a need for the cell phone.

People missing planes, trains, shuttles, buses, camels, and all the other forms of transportation is an amusing think to watch.

Human Nature fumbling the ball...

It baffles me how a person can live 20 - 30 - 40 - 50 - 60 etc, years and not learn to judge time. When they say, I was showering, I think, hmmm

- You are age 35, and you have not learned how to shower, and how long it takes? -

I think more they are selfish, think the world revolves around him or her.

Homeschooling

Homeschooling
Many a parent must think to himself or herself,
- I can teach my children better myself. -

I often think,
- I can teach myself better... than a professor. -

I feel myself to be a student of the world. I study this phenomenon called life; I do not need a teacher or professor. I need books, or maybe I need reference books. Wikpedia.org the online Encyclopedia has been a great source of knowledge.
- It is not possible for a teacher to know all the information in an Encyclopedia. -

Home schooling of myself is all I got, there is no other choice, and I must conduct school at my present home. I think teachers and professors misrepresent themselves, they truly believe they teach.

I truly believe when the student arrives, the teacher appears, the teacher is always ready and waiting, then when the student is ready to learn, somehow the knowledge appears in an ironic way available.

The falsehood is that we need a teacher; this to me is a dysfunctional belief system that we cannot learn until a person is involved. There is no need for people; there is a need for student that has decided to learn.

Research needs new ideas, objectivity; the synergy of two people does sometimes make three people. However, this is putting to brilliant people together, not one mediocre teacher and a brilliant student, but any combination that includes two brilliant people.

Now, I suppose a lot more people believe themselves brilliant than really exist on the planet.
