Sahara Desert, A 100 Percent New Experiences Day
Yesterday was my first day in Nouakchott, Mauritania, a day with 100 percent new experiences. This can be “culture shock,” however for me, I am home. It is like a spring day, new air, a new outlook on life.
I am addicted to travel, but why is hard to ascertain. I like to say,
“No risk, no rush,” however, that is over simplified.
New friends
New climates
Danger of uncontrollable cities.
Confusion of being lost in a new city.
Hope of new experiences.
An attractive women, Ali from Czech Republic, maybe living here in Mauritania, she speaks a local language “Wolof,” well she asked,
“What do you want to see in Mauritania?”
A normal question, probably easy for most tourists to answer, but for me, I drew a blank, and said,
“I do not know.”
I explained to her, normally I sit around talking with people, and they talk about things to do, then one tempts me, and then I go do it. Truly, I have no plans to do anything here. I think she had a marriage ring on her finger, she did the “I live in the desert, and wrap my head in linen cloth thing.” Maybe 35, hard to gauge, she speaks a little of many languages, I think her English is good, maybe…
Everyone is a new story, it’s like reading a book, and with patience, the author slowly defines a character in a novel by many small explanations. No one person can be explained by one label, or stereotypes, it takes 100’s to explain a person.
It takes 100’s of small explanations to describe a day that is 100 percent new experiences.
Like a spring day is the best way to speak of this.
