JACQUES MANNER
ACCRA - kASOA - GHANA

The true practice of the orphanage home is always tough calling.
It is a kind of profession that attracts friendship and enmity on regular basis depending on what is written and how the piece is perceived.
It almost an unbearable exercise writing about orphanage homes.
The starting was very poor and unattractive in a very bad structure.
After the wind break most of the kids went back to the street to beg for money my heart is laden with pain as i wrote note for the first time, all the way my staffs and family went about searching for the lost kids to bring them back to the home in such a jumbled manner. It was not easy but we were able to bring some of them back to the new rented home at Accra-kasoa(Akweley peace town) and started every thing on the 9th september ,2008 with much focus and determination.
Now Great Andoh Orphanage Home is using what is to be done and how it is to be done as its primary purpose of management or planning.
Great Andoh Orphanage Home is now having a population of 54 pupils which 40 of them are real orphans and the rest of the 14 are needys. It is of the fact that every institution or incorporation companies based on certain aims and objectives in order to achieve its goals.
The aims of Great Andoh Orphanage Home is to.
1.Helping children have a future by educating them and before we can do that ,unless we put some managerial aspect in places.
Human activities and compasses involves some aspect of management and these aspect are planning, directing,,organizing and controlling the affairs of the home.
It is of the view that if a company refuse to plan, its members fail.Great Andoh Orphanage Home is not ready to fail any member of the home.We will try our possible best to give the children better education so that they will become asset to the nation.
2.This home, once again was established to provide advocacy to children and also provide assistance to them, because we realize that the future of any nation or country will be break if the young once who are the potential leaders and adult of tomorrow are not effectively brought up.Also have 8 teachers and four cooks who work for the home. Some times find it difficult for their wages. And also have 2 rooms for the boys and two for the girls.acommdation for volunteers amidst excellent secuity. We now need volunteers to come and support as in our day to day activities like teaching , playing game and leaning of culture and teaching of local language.will like to hear from you soon.
can call me on 0272265390 or 0543704253
THANK YOU.

WORLD VOLUNTEERS GHANA Project in Ghana:
Working in orphanage home:
We have arranged volunteering opportunity for volunteers who want help bring up/care for orphans. Street children in Ghana and youths who live in extreme poverty.
Our orphanage program is focused on addressing the needs of the street children forced out of their homes through poverty, death of parents, neglect or abuse. This project presents the opportunity to help Street Children and those who have lost their rights to leave a happy life. You will be working at an orphanage or a day care centre for children in Ghana. The children live in the orphanage until they are adopted or placed with family members that can take better care of them. As a volunteer working on our
Orphanage Program, you will be filling an important role in the lives of these needy children, as well as assisting the hardworking staff at the orphanage.
You can help with all manner of tasks at the centre. Help is needed in everything from cooking and serving food to the children, to assisting with their basic education with sports and English lessons. You may also get involved with counseling sessions, so there are real prospects to make a difference.
NOTE: You will need to be flexible, and have patience, compassion and enthusiasm to face the many hurdles and challenges that you will inevitably encounter within your role. To ensure that you get the most out of and contribute fully to your placement, a pro-active attitude is essential. Volunteers at this orphanage must have, above all, a love of children and a commitment to the project.

Internship program of world volunteers Ghana.
Our internship program is especially for international students to provide tremendous opportunities to gain invaluable practical work experience, and cultural immersion opportunities that are second to none.
The internship program also provide an excellent opportunity for you to gain practical international work experience in the field of your choice while affording you the chance to experience the unique wonders Ghana has to offer. The program director and our country coordinator will monitor the intern\-s progress and also serve as supervisor for the duration of the program. The participant is also guaranteed a certificate from our program director upon successful completion of the program.

Studying abroad will expose you to diverse people and viewpoints, and you will get to experience a different way of life apart from where you are coming from. You will be immersed in the language, culture, and people of Ghana and will get to experience life as a resident, not as a mere tourist.

Sports volunteers
World Volunteers Ghana works alongside schools and local coaches, helping with soccer and general fitness training. You don\-t need to be qualified, a sports star or even terribly good at soccer to take part. Just your presence and support will help the student’s language skills and general education.

For people with more sports skills we have placements that are keen to have volunteers with previous coaching experience and anyone with first aid qualifications would also be welcomed. The main focus for volunteers is working on timetabled soccer coaching but there are also opportunities to help teach other sports. Your Role: With your passion of sport, you will help develop the children\-s skills and instruct them in football activities. Assist coaches in football classes - through skill development, coordination skills, game preparation and training drills. Help in the organization of training sessions and competitions. Referee short games for children at the project and in the local community. Give advice and lessons on football tactics and take part in football camps Optional teaching.

HIV and AIDS
• Prevention education and awareness
• Providing care and support for people living with HIV and AIDS

• Supporting orphans and vulnerable groups

Volunteers will work with various Christian and non-Christian charitable organizations that offer voluntary HIV/AIDS education to communities. In this project you will be trained together with the local experts for a period of one week. And the following weeks, volunteers and local experts will together engage in training, education, and demonstration activities to increase HIV AIDS awareness in the local Ghanaian communities. As this project is very challenging, participants should be prepared to learn and also train others as this project goes forward. There are no special qualifications for this project. It is ongoing project.

We are Volunteer Corps Organization based in GHANA.We recruit and place volunteers on different projects in Ghana all year round.Volunteers are beautiful people and it is sad some Ghanaians take advantage of people who travel all the way from their country to help us.Volunteers must be careful and avoid organizations that request money from them before they arrive in Ghana.

Volunteer Corps DO NOT request no money from a foreign volunteers until their in Ghana. This is to ensure that volunteers meet their respective project coordinator,go through the process of orientation before payment is made.If you want to volunteer and see nice sites in GHANA,think Volunteer corps, where we bridge cultures and serve mankind.

I actually just came home from volunteering in Ghana through the Robbooker organization. I am from the USA . Right now another girl, named Michelle from London who I was also staying and volunteering with is still there. She has been trying to recieve the 600 pounds that Richmond owes to her for supposively booking a flight that never happened for over a month now. She is suppose to leave on the 15th of this month and Richmond has \"disappeared\" for the time being and his phone has been turned off for the past few days. When Michelle and another volunteer (through Robbooker) we met named Tina from Germany, started asking some of the host families we were all staying at and volunteer organizors like Misty, a man who runs the orphanage people have been volunteering at through Robbooker, for help on contacting Richmond because he owed money to the volunteers they started confessing that they also have not been getting paid for hosting volunteers. This is very wrong since it states on their website that 85 % of the money we pay Robbooker is suppose to go to the local communities and host families. Tina also found out that the reason she was placed at a different hospital and host familiy then she was originally suppose to stay with is because this had been going on for months and people were getting angry that Richmond was not paying or supporting them to host the volunteers. Also another host person confessed that Richmond had threatened him if he told the volunteers what was going on.

So right now Michelle is still trying to get her money before she leaves to go back to England and has texted Richmond that if she doesn\-t get her money she will report him to the police but for now he is missing. So I guess I can keep you updated on what happens over the next few days before you make any decisions but this whole thing really upsets me since I don\-t want the people who need the volunteers, or the people that do their job and work under Richmond to suffer either. All of our Host families and people I met in Ghana were Amazing so I don\-t want them to suffer because of this but what Richmond is doing is not right either........................................................................................................................................................................

I would like to back up the information that Kelly has provided you
with. I
have just returned from my stay in Ghana, which was fantastic, but as
Kelly
said, somewhat ruined by my experience with Richmond.

My £600 was never refunded to me. Richmond repeatedly lied to me about
his
whereabouts, so that he did not have to meet me. For example, he said
that
he could not meet me as he was in another city for the next week.
However,
he was then seen in his office by another volunteer several times
during
that week. He then arranged to meet me but did not attend. When I rang
him
his phone was switched off, and he did not reply to my text messages.

The orphanage that I was working at ending up lending me money because
I ran
out and had no way of getting to the airport to fly home. So I would
really
like to pay the orphanage back the money they are owed as soon as
possible
so the children do not suffer. Also, it is true that the host families
were
not receiving any money for hosting volunteers, for around three months
now.
This makes me very upset and I would like the situation rectified.
However
the host families are scared to speak up, and did not want me to tell
anybody that they were not receiving money. I am worried that Richmond
will
treat them badly when he finds out they told me about it.

I would like to hear his explanation so if you receive one could you
please
keep me informed.

Thanks very much

Michelle Haslam

Welcome !

Volunteer in Africa is an organization dedicated to disseminating information on volunteer programs in Africa. We are also dedicated to organizing a wide range volunteering, internship and cultural exchange programs in Ghana.

We recruit participants from worldwide and place them on our own projects and on that of other organizations in Ghana. We also organize 3-day and 9-day group tours for our volunteers, interns and visitors.

Participants volunteer at worthwhile and meaningful projects that include orphanage projects, street children projects, HIV/AIDS education projects, schools, hospitals and clinics, tree planting projects, churches, computer training projects etc. Participants stay with carefully selected, respectable and dedicated host families.

Volunteers could participate in most of the programs anytime of year for short and medium term bases. Volunteers mostly work alongside local workers and professionals. Special skills, professional qualifications or previous experience are not required of volunteers in most of the programs.

Our work is aimed at promoting socio-economic development, health care, literacy, environmental preservation, international friendship, recreation, cultural exchange, international co-operation and sustainable development.

We therefore welcome you to participate in our programs. Pass on our information to your friends and other potential participants!

RICHMOND AMOAKOH
ORPHANAGE AND HIV AIDS EDUCATION VOLUNTEER PLACEMENT IN GHANA
http://www.robborg.org
KUMASI - KSI - GHANA

R.V.O ORPHANAGE PROJECT IN GHANA:
Orphanage work in Ghana gives volunteers the opportunity to help orphans, children who have grown up in the streets of Ghana, and youths who live in extreme poverty. This well-structured volunteer in Ghana project attempts to create an atmosphere where orphaned children can experience the fun and excitement of learning. The orphanage work project is highly challenging and rewarding, as you will be changing the lives of children who rarely receive opportunities to interact with other people. By sharing love and caring for innocent, troubled, and forgotten children, you will be offering a profound gift. Working with orphaned children demands lots of patience, as these children\'s harsh living conditions have often alienated them from society.
The job responsibilities of orphanage volunteers in Ghana depend on the needs of the individual orphanage as well as the skills and interests of the volunteers. Most of the orphanages aim to provide education opportunities to orphans; therefore, in most of the cases, volunteers in Ghana project teach Basic English to the kids. Volunteers also help in developing creative programs such as art, music, dance, sports, etc. Additional help on day trips, sanitation, cooking, and administration might be requested.
One of the most wonderful opportunities that work on an orphanage can give you is the chance to share your love and skills with poor children. Many volunteers have experienced working with poor kids as life changing. By offering individual attention and love to children, you are making a real difference in the life of a young person. Whether you have a background in childcare or simply enjoy sharing love with kids, a smile can offer something meaningful to the life of kids deprived of love and care.

VOLUNTEERS¡¦ MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Joining this project means that you will be helping with several activities to orphan. Which include;
„X Teaching English
„X Help them to wash their face and brush their teeth,
„X Help them to learn their lessons,
„X Distribute food or be with them while eating so that they can feel family environment.
„X Prepare them for schools, check their dresses,
„X Check the neatness and the cleanliness of the kids
„X Play games (educational and environmental)

People with kind heart for children are required for this volunteer placement.

R.V.O HIV AIDS PROJECT IN GHANA:
AIDS is the leading killer in Africa - with over 2.4 million deaths in 2002 alone. Despite major investments in AIDS prevention, the rate of HIV infection in many African countries is still rising. The HIV/AIDS epidemic has exacerbated poverty and malnutrition. Families hit by AIDS see their food production cut in half. UNAIDS and WHO estimate that 7 out of 10 people newly infected with HIV live in sub-Saharan Africa. Nine out of ten children under 15 have the virus. Of all AIDS-related deaths since the epidemic started, 83% have come from Africa. Ghana, like its neighboring countries, has not been able to escape the AIDS pandemic. Furthermore, the impact of AIDS is deepening and getting worse; the need for action now to prevent its further spread is urgent.
HIV/AIDS projects in Ghana aim to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS and to provide support to those affected by the disease. Therefore, volunteers in the HIV/AIDS Ghana project mostly take care of HIV/AIDS infected kids and people, but they also engage in educational and training activities meant to increase awareness and stop the epidemic of HIV/AIDS in Ghana. Organizations who work on the HIV/AIDS problem have established different community outreach programs such as hospice care, recreational and educational programs, voluntary HIV counseling and testing, and educational seminars and conferences on the virus within the local community. Volunteer help could be used in all of these activities.

PROJECT INFORMATION:
Volunteers will work with various Christian and non-Christian charitable organizations that offer voluntary HIV/AIDS education to communities. In this project you will be trained together with the local experts for a period of one week. And the following weeks, volunteers and local experts will together engage in training, education, and demonstration activities to increase HIV AIDS awareness in the local Ghanaian communities. As this project is very challenging, participants should be prepared to learn and also train others as this project goes forward.

There are no special qualifications for this project. It is ongoing project.
