I voted for Jamaica because Haiti's known to be a nasty, violent place and you'd need to speak Haitian Creole unless you're in the finest hotels, restaurants, etc. It's the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, and the people are desperate for money.

Andy,
If Cuba and Haiti end up number 1 and 2, why not visit both since they're right next to each other. Sounds like Cuba might be challenging. Even if you had dual citizenship and two passports and/or avoided the passport stamps with just one,.you still have a popular blog that would be broadcasting the fact (I assume).
Or would you apply for one of those US issued licenses I've read about? Journalism perhaps?

If a person goes to Cuba there could be sanctions, we are free to do as we please providing we are willing to pay the price.
What is the price of the sanctions?
How much is he penalty?
I have seen laws with no punishment.
I know of blue laws that are not inforced.
If a person goes to Cuba, how does the Government of the USA know and does prosecution require normally the person admits the went, Does the whole sanction require the person to self incriminate?

Homicides per 100,000 0.57 Lebanon
This stands out a little. LEBANON being one of the safest nations in the WORLD ? trash this list.
Another Andy Quote " If a person goes to Cuba, how does the Government of the USA know and does prosecution require normally the person admits the went, Does the whole sanction require the person to self incriminate"
You know the answer. Don't play dumb. How do they know ? dah..you blog about it !! You actually have to considered that if you got to Cuba you could have sanctions against you from USA government for blogging about your travels. You are not form Cuba. You do not have relations in Cuba. You do not have humanitarian interests in Cuba NGO. You are not a reporter. You are a disciple of the founding fathers.
Well in a way you are a reporter. Who in the hell is to decided only NBC,ABC,CNN,FOX can provide press credentials ? I always thought this weird. You hold up a pass that says NBC and you get through a road block. You hold up a HOBOHIDEOUT ATH credential and your locked up. ? 10 years
Well at least make it look good and put a Che Guevara cap on ...hasta la vista my patriot.
I voted for Pitcairn Island by the way. It would get you lots of press and no jail time..
Most people who call Haiti "dangerous" have either never actually been there, or "felt" it was dangerous if they have. People think that because it is poor it is automatically dangerous. This is not the case, and in fact when it is as poor as it is, it is the opposite. I will tell you why.
In Haiti, people mostly live in small communities where they are all struggling. No one would dare to steal from their neighbor, because the whole town would burn that person alive. Everyone looks out for each other, and watches to make sure no one does anything wrong.
When it comes to foreigners, the locals are even more protective! With very little tourism, they want to make sure that the foreigners have a positive experience. I've spent a lot of time in Haiti, and can honestly say that it is safer than America, which the statistics on the left show (5.6 vs 5.3).
I'll be honest. Out of the several months I've spent in rural Haiti, there was one incidence of theft. I was bargaining in the street for some bananas and was holding out my money. A drug-user in the town (who everyone hated) grabbed 5 Haitian dollars (about 60 cents American) out of my hand and tried running away. The whole town chased him down, beat him up, and dragged him to me, forcing him to give back the money personally and apologize. They asked me what punishment I wanted him to have but I let him go.
If I was to compare Haiti to Mexico, I would say that Mexico is much more dangerous. In fact, the only place I've beeen to where I would say is safer than Haiti is rural Canada, not America. America is dangerous. Haiti is not dangerous, as long as you make sure you're drinking clean water.
