Hollered at Guatemala Taxi Man
I sent a Taxi to the Guatemala City Airport to pick up a friend, when he arrived home there was two foreigners in the Taxi and my friend was in back looking uncomfortable. I was angry, it was obvious to me, my friends Private Taxi had become an example of Guatemalan or Latino abuse.

Andy, did the taxi driver give any explanation? Since you know him personally, did he try to rationalize what he did? Maybe he sees nothing wrong with it and you just raised his awareness.

I known this man for five years, I hired a private taxi, and he found a way to double his fare without asking permission, he is the same as an American, he had pride that he was clever. Sold one thing and gave another, taking advantage of tourist who do not understand.
Americans are soft targets, they just cannot accept or believe the real world.
It is always dangerous to allow another person to enter your taxi unless you are 100 percent clear, the two can gang up on you and rob you.

I agree with what you did 100 Andy. Sounds like you told him what you felt, did not go ballistic on the guy.
One of the things that has always bothered me about peoples response to those living a different way of life (In other words, can't afford the "good stuff"), is the feeling that they are missing something, though that is the way they have lived for centuries. ( A good example are the people I met in Sudan)
Happy with what they have, willing to share with a traveler, no desire to keep up with the "Jones' " in other parts of the world.
But, honesty , integrity, truthfulness - those are all universal traits amongst friends. When a friend, or someone you put your trust in lets you down, there is a need to vent yourself to your comrade. If you do not, then you do not have a comrade.
Hope that makes sense.
