It is very strange that West Africa has developed this somewhat expensive motel system and does not have the cheap backpacker infrastructure that most of the world has developed. You can understand that in the car-centric, sprawl-happy U.S., but it seems very odd in countries where most of the local population doesn't have an automobile. Probably part of the reason the region gets so many fewer tourists than East Africa.

well, I am from Germany but even I am amazed of this stupidity these tourist bring along with them while travelling. Mostly dumb young people who got no idea of travelling anyway. Thank god Americans not allowed to come. There are overpaying the entire world while travelling. They are known to pay the highest prices for everything as they are they dumbest nation in this world.
Well, thank god only Europeans and Canadians, you would otherwise pay more. Just tell them straight in the face that they shouldn't be so inresponsible to the rest of the world and stop overpaying

I've never been to Africa, but I have been to a few places in the Caribbean/Central America, so your comparisons of the beach you were just at in the Honduras and this new one are very interesting.
