Andy,
Ive been using Latitude myself for a while. It works very well, especially if you have a free subscription as its always on. So in turn a map will show your location 24/7.
However I personally do not display it to the world. Reason being that it also tells some not so nice people exactly where you are for bad purposes, especially in remoter areas.
Instead I have a secret webpage with a password etc that only a few people know about in case anything happens. People will then know where my last known location is.
This is just from my own perspective, just said Id shout it out to you.
