Try contacting your own bank back home. I had a problem with a cash machine at Banco del Pichincha, in Quito. They told me that the procedure was for me to ask my bank to contact them. I did, and sure enough, my bank refunded me the money a few weeks later. Good luck!
Banco del Pichincha is generally one of the best banks in Ecuador and I still use their cash machines.

I'm moving to Kenya on Thursday and want to use a Blackberry there. Should I buy the Blackberry before I get there and then get it connected thru Safaricom? Or will Blackberry Storms be available to buy there?

I was always confused when spelling the Caribbean, it does sound like it should have two R's. So, that would be awesome to go on your trip. Especially if you sent me a paid ticket, haha, corporate banker? I would want to run too. Its been a while since i was in the Caribbean, but we're planning another trip soon.
