I love traveling and I’m reading a great travel book at the moment that's inspiring me on my next big trek. It's called Chasing Sunsets by Lawrence Pane. He, his wife and young son took off on a six year circumnavigation of the world by boat and the book is a documentation of their adventures.
I don’t know the first thing about sailing but reading this book makes me want to learn – what an adventure! What I found most appealing was the fact that it was written by an average guy and his family, not some salty sea-farer, and so I could relate much more to what was going on. After all, this was just an average family who took off around the world. The photos were great too. Anyway, thought you might be interested - it's a great "road read" :o) Take care.

Hi,
I just found this blog after doing a search 'backpack the caribbean'.
I want to travel the Caribbean and spend considerable time there. I will have an extremely limited budget and am wondering about doing couch surfing or homestays.
Any information you can lead me to would be appreciated. Also, I plan to write a book about my experiences and maybe a travel guide just like the one you mentioned is needed.

Two dirty old toilets in the bar = nowhere I'd want to go for a drink. One 'Frenchie' bartender or a whack of them nothwithstanding. That's no place to store old plumbing!
