I was “webbing” about the underground river in the Philippines, where I have been in 2001. In that time I was developing an anthropological research with the Batak tribes who lives in that region before the park was implemented, and currently are affected by environmental restrictions.
I became amazed with your impressions about that park, its attractions and touristy infrastructure, and in particular the approach to local women issues.
Before comparing that park with the “Fantasy Island”, it is better to meet the park director and discuss about the park priorities and its management plan. A good place to have this kind of information is at the research centre (inside the park), or at NCIP.
I do believe that before writing about a place, especially about a protected one, the author should know more about it, about the fauna and flora and local culture and respect those scenarios and expectancies, but this was not the case. About the women issue, I am sorry about the author idea of marriage and nationality status.
