Paul commented about Thailand versus Philippines Culture, On Thursday February 21st, 2008 05:45:00 AM

Thailand and the Philippines are two distinct nations.

Thais are thais and Filipinos are a combination of so many bloods and cultures.

Thais love their cultures because they had it since time immemorial. Filipinos are just starting to create their own. Thailsn is an old country, the Philippines is a new country.

No need to comapre the two nations. The Philippines was created under the western culture in the asian part of the world. Quite confussing what to follow. Thailand is a very asian country.

Very distinct indeed. I am a Filipino trying to be Asian.

I think one of the problems is you need to tie the 3 sites together better. You would never really know hobohideout existed on this blog, unless your accidentally came across it. Hobotraveler seems like a abandoned child. Do you run three separate businesses? I want a one stop shop. Maybe better graphic links to tie the 3 together?

Honestly, what's the fuss about? Suri are delicious (I had some last Saturday, and the day before) and quite wholesome. If they're not to your taste, don't eat them. A billion Hindus won't eat beef. Another billion Moslems (and Jews) won't eat pork. But they don't excoriate YOU for doing so. Why get grossed out about eating a worm?

I came across your blog for the first time today. I'm from Kenya and this page on the Niger experience (especially about the girl who first met you) really touched me. You have trully nailed it with this insight. I respect your honesty.

We humans rely incredibly on feedback. Our perceptions, choices, attitudes are heavily influenced by feedback we process in our daily experiences and interactions. So in attempting to survive and even thrive people will do what seems to get the results they want. If being nice (think: teacher's pet), or acquiescent,or sucking up (think: Donor community and Governments) get's you what you want- you do it!

Paul.
