Hey its me again, nikki. And again I dont know if you already know but you can pretty much tell a real pearl from a fake one by gently rubbing it against your teeth, if it feels too smooth, then it is fake. real pearls have some sort of gritty texture...i did this infront of a Jared jeweller here in the US and the horrified look on the sales person's face was priceless.

Hey its me again! I laughed out loud reading that article about filipino wives...well i am a filipino girl, and the predictability of the situation you got into is very sad! you see I wasnt born yesterday, and I KNOW what they mean when they talk about filipino girls. It's coz youre an american and sadly I think finding a genuine filipino girl in the philippines to marry is impossible....sorry to be negative but all they are interested in is your money.... : (

Andy, those are actually duck eggs, and the traditional way to make em is to bury them in the ground with ridiculous amounts of rock salt and left to cook under the sun. . . work is slow and I am hooked on your articles about the phillipines.

How could I have missed this website! This is awesome! FYI they only use male chickens for cockfights, aka roosters. . . .hence 'rooster booster'...took one yesterday and was literally throwing myself against the wall. . . . :)

Hey I came across your blog and found it to be very interesting. I grew up in the philippines but moved to the US when I was 13. Anyway, you are right about those sleezy places, if it feels wrong, and if its dim inside, by all means RUN! but I also saw a picture of some "weird" looking eggs (as you have implied it to be), those are actually quail eggs. I dont know if someone already told you that, but just in case you have no idea yet. anyway, keep up with the blog! once I save up enough money and when my boyfriend leaves me for another girl I'm gonna travel the world hobo style like you do!
