Tsra, I think the lynchee is a more taster fruit than the rambutan. But the absolute best fruit here in south east asia is the mangosteen. Its amazing. Nothing compare to it. google it! You really should try it if you dont have already. I dont know if it was my sentence that was incoherent or someone else. Sry for that, my English is not my first language. Have fun with the fruits!

Haha, I love it when people come across as very arrogant and correct people like TSRA does and then have it completly wrong. There are no lychee fruits in that picture. The fuzzy fruit is called Ngo in thai. Rambutan is the english name.

Hey,
That is so true. I have an iPhone and it is great in every way if you only have it in one country. The itunes Appstore is great. It makes it really easy to download programs, and also for developers to publish and make great programs. But when traveling with the iphone it is a pain in the arse.
But that balckberry global email thing seems really great. To have one device that works in almost any where in the world. That is gold.
So, the fight is on! :)

Wow!
Thats great value for your money. And this $64.99 is for unlimted data worldwide? Can you also surf the web with the mobile for that price? Or is it only for e-mails?
If you connect the blackberry to your laptop and connect to the internet with the laptop. Is that also included in that $64.99?

Hi,
I checked out the Verzion homepage and this is truly a great rip off. I checked out the price for the worldwide data plan. In most of the countries you pay over $20 per MB data! Thats insane!
That include even for a country like Thailand. And here you can buy a local Sim card for 100 bath and pay 50 bath for five hours unlimited data. Thats about $5 with Dtac, and Verzion charges $20 per MB! Wow.
Ok, if you are filtyh rich or you have a Company i Can understand if you likes this. But comon. Its only to travel to a country, do a google search for gprs and the country name and you will get all the info you need.
No offence Andy, I understand you get this for free. But I hardly doubt you would reccomend a data plan for $20 per MB if you had to pay it yourself.. Hehe

Hello,
You should leave it OFF. One reason is what chuck said, in the end it will be higher prices. Which you end up paying.
And the second but more importantly reason is the green house effect. Why waste electricity when we don't have to? Many times that electricity is black cool or some other bad electricity. OK, you like your room cold, but it will only take max 10-20 min after you start the AC to get the hotel room nice and cool. You have the time to wait for it. In the mean time you can always take a walk and chat up some pretty girl.. hehe..
Be a gentleman. OFF is the way to go.

I use DTAC. You can buy a package for 100 hours gprs/EDGE for 350-500 bath. Also the phone have WLAN. But if you should buy a phone you should the new one. iPhone 3G. Then you can surf and check your e-mail really fast in thoses countries that have 3g. The old iphone(the one i have) uses EDGE wich is only a little bit faster than GPRS. DTAC is the only one i thailand that support it.

But you can do that with the iPhone. It works really good even in sunlight. And you can easy zoom with you fingers very easy.
But about your backpack. I think you are going the wrong way. If you go hiking, fishing or travel alot on dirt roads a backpack is optimal. If you travel between city's and airports and busses and taxis a suitcases with wheels are optimal.
Ok, I know you do both. Sometimes you are in Africa somtimes in an airport. Can't you make a backpack from hard plastic with wheels? A rugged hard plastic backpack/stroller will be perfectly balanced when you use the wheels. It will be nearly indestructible beacuse hard rugged plastic is very hard. The weight wont be a problem beacuse plastic is light. People cannot use a knife and cut thrue it. Also hard plastic/rubber is cheap so the manufacture costs will be small.
The only problem will be to make it ergonmicly correct to your back. But I guess you can come up with something smart. Maybe some kind of rubberfoam that will adjust to the back.
Btw, I write this on my iPhone sitting on the beach in Thailand. So if you can do that you can read a guidebook.. :)

Hello,
The solution to carry a guidebook is to not carrying a guidebook. How can you do that? Carry it in your computer or smartphone. I know lonley planet have those *.pdf guide books. Or if you have a good digital camera you take photos of everypage of the guidebook and save it in the camera memory. But then you need a good camera with a good LCD display so you can read the text.
Btw, did the OpenDNS work out for you? Have you noticed any change regarding Internet connection in your computer?

Nicholas commented about Checking Wireless WIFI Internet in Hotel, On Thursday April 17th, 2008 11:40:00 PM
No, but you dont have to input that in the Hotels router. Input it into your computer. You will still use the Hotel DNS to recive the IP but you will use thoses DNS servers instead of the Hotels ISP DNS.
It will speed up and solve alot of problems for you I think.
If you use Vista: https://www.opendns.com/start?device=windows-vista#step7
If you use XP: https://www.opendns.com/start?device=windows-xp
You dont have to downlaod anything, it takes 2 min. And then you are st to go.
Try it out for a week. Im sure you will see the difference.

You probably already know this but dont use the wirelss dns settings that your recive from the router.
Use www.opendns.com It solves ALOT of problems, and most important it speeds up the internet alot if they have a poor ISP.
Go to network connections on your computer, then click wirless network connections and properties. Then under Internet Protocol 4 input these two dns.

Actually "Middle East" means east of Jerusalem, it is a Christian name. Greenwich, like the rest of England, is West of Jeruusalem, hence a Western country. There was also a Near East and a Far East, although now Middle East covers the places previously known as Near East too.
