I love the question of "what am I supposed to do with all that time?" It's hilarious to think that so many Americans feel like they don't have enough time.

I can't wait to just go! Leave the job, responsibilities, commitments, etc. And just go!

My husband Justin and I leave 09-30-08 and take off on our backpacking adventure. We are planning on going the hobo/budget travel way for about a year or so.

Visit www.nomadbackpackers.com to follow as we plan, travel and work our way around the world.

Thanks again for encouraging me with all the time you have! Hurray for extra time in life!!!

That's a great approach to life! Justin and I are going to enjoy the "non-tourist" approach to travel. We can't wait to stay long enough to know the area, culture, people, etc.

Thanks for the encouragement through your personal lifestyle choices. I am sure we will alter the "squeeze it all in approach" to roll more like you! And just live life. Living life the Andy way!

Andy! I really enjoyed reading this NOT as a TOURIST! But as a traveler.

In 30 days (on 09-30-08) my husband and depart on our backpacking lifestyle. We will be traveling to various countries for a year or so.

I discovered your website a while ago. We want to experiment as we travel. Stay in hostels, stay with families, stay in tree houses, etc. Whatever...

Reading your experiences is great!

Feel free to offer us advice and/or encouragement. www.nomadbackpackers.com

The lotus flowers are absolutely gorgeous.

It is not as exotic as your flower pic, but I just took a picture of a moon flower and posted it yesterday. www.nomadbackpackers.com

It's a "thank you flower" to a guy named Steve. Feel free to offer blog related advice or nature photography advice to us. (:

I tested some soft bottles by Platypus and was really impressed with how leak proof they were. I threw them in my purse with all kinds of keys and pens that I thought for sure would spring a leak and they held up great - and there was no leaking even when I used the bite valve top.

I agree that soft bottles are tricky to clean - I've been using a mix of baking soda, water, salt and a little white vinegar - just drop in the dry stuff with a small spoon and pour the wet stuff in. The fizzy reaction makes it a little easier to clean, then I just rinse it with water.

You can check out Platypus bottles here: http://www.reusablebags.com/store/platypus-c-169.html
