I think the problems may be a lot more complex than whether the aid agencies are doing a good job. They are battling against the elements, repeated famine and a still growing desert, against a mindset which doesn't always seem to understand "help us to help ourselves" very well, and at the end of the day, the problems of a large and widely spread out population compared to quite a small population of aid workers in reality, most of whom are concentrated in Niamey it seemed to me.
