Hi Andy,
I was searching about the usual courtesy of Englishmen and I ran into your blog...
It takes time for people to understand each other... and it's not a matter of their race/birthplace... it's the software that's installed into a person...
I think being honest and communicate is the best approach... I hope you will try to know more about your foreign friends :)
