Nice thoughts... I took me about 3 years away from friends and family working aboard a ship to learn what you just summed up. Now, I can always tell who is a very "good" friend; we pick up a conversation where we last left off. As well, in this "ever-connected" world it is hard for people to accept the fact that you may not necessarily want to converse with them. I understand this now. With all the automation in people's lives, the excuse of "I'm too busy" isn't valid anymore. Yet, I understand it if I am not on the top of thier priorities. To the people who matter to me (and I them), it is evident when I correspond with them. Sometimes the old adage "Out of sight, out of mind" rings true. Anyway... A person doesn't have to be in constant contact to show thier loyalty/friendship/love. I email my friends and family once a month (if that). I think they get a call every 3 months (or so)...... It's no big deal, they know I love them.
