As the owner of the above SUV at the time of the photo i feel i need to answer the points made.

we had parked up in front of the Galien Hotel in Lome looking for a place to camp as we had heard you could camp there but it turned out it was in exchange for a small fortune.

i dont think we were over kitted out...we only had a hand winch which is the best all round solution for Africa, its hidden and secure and lighter than a built in one. the only time we used it was to pull ourselves out backwards in Angola.

looking like just another junker on the road would have brought other problems.... the car would have required a lot more work upfront which we dd not have the time to complete

the only time we ever suffered theft was when i left the drivers window open in a fuel station in angola with my mobile on the dashboard (but i could say i deserved it )
