this would be very interesting.. i'm following in your footsteps of about a year ago up the caribbean... and it would be funny to compare the roosters at 'mitchells guesthouse' in grenada to other stops around the world.. by the way, is there a link to 2006 table of contents as i'm having trouble finding the posts.. happy and safe travels

hi andy, still loving your regular and interesting scribbles..
Just saying I disagree with your anti-hiking pack stance.. My hiking backpack has only one entrance which has a drawstring which is already premade for me to thread a padlock loop into and lock shut with no modifications..
The best lock for zippers Ive seen are the simple and cheap keyrings that protect against quick opportunists..
Good luck with project windmill..

andy, the ipod touch or iphone lets you open the lonely planet pdfs and you can zoom right in without any squinting..
you can print off a map before hand so you can have a hard copy without pulling out your expensive item..
also many regular hiking packs have a zip pocket in the lining of the lid, they are normally perfect for a guidebook, and dont need locking because its just a guidebook in there..
my next pack is the north face, plasma 30, with all the outside straps, hip strap and pockets cut off to give it a clean look..
take care.. Oceania sounds awesome..

yes andy, what about the LP caribbean recommending 1000 dollar a night rooms in some of the islands.. they are sell outs and i brought this up in the thorn tree but had replies along the lines of.. "i like how LP has matured with me as i can't take those budget rooms anymore"..
i won't buy no more, i belive free wifi, googlemaps, travel forums and hostel booking websites (that i use for a guide) and obviously hobo hideout, is sufficent to replace the 'guidebook'

many people have now seen you and francis on the khoa san road.. i was surprised as i had an image of some old man in my head by the way you talk about yourself.. before i liked the mystery but now i feel a more personal connection to your words..
i see no harm in you being caught in your own tip videos.. but because you have already gained my trust with your recommendations photoless, I feel a Photo of Andy is not Needed..
