The use of Canadian flags on packs by American backpackers from the mid-sixties on, were flags for 'cover', or nationality disguise. The use of T-shirt as 'signs', symbols, and statements of cultural sentiments is endlessly amusing.
Many Thai chose Bob Marley without knowing of Jamaica or Rasta religion. Ditto Che. On the other hand, I'm not sure i understand the Chinese/Japanese girl T-shirt kitty cat sub-text meanings... Do people who wear messages like the colors/design of words or logos, and/or affiliate with the the meanings? (america the golden mountain? freedom among the land of the homeless or dispossed?)
I like the american flag on Thai Girl photo.
I agree most would like to go to americas/europe for economic reasons. Many thais and nepalese i have talked with have unreal expectations in living and social-loss costs in the west.
