Hi there

I have had good luck using Priceline.com - where you make an offer
first you choose the number of stars, then the neighbourhood - they
tell you what the average price is- you make an offer - I usually offer
50of the average - the only issue is that you have to enter credit card info before they
confirm your reservation - you don't get to choose- they do- but if nothing is
available at the price you requested you are committed to nothing

So far I have never been disappointed by what I have gotten- usually a pretty
posh place for way less than posted prices

there's also airbnb - interesting approach to finding lodging - checc

Hi

While I somewhat agree that there is TOO MUCH out there - you can pick and choose how you use it - for example you do not have to open Facebook to know that you were sent a message - it will come to your yahoo email address if you tell it to - the same thing with twitter

you can set up small circles of friends - or you could be posting on facebook and reaching your readers that way - no need for a server - but then I suppose you would not generate revenue - ah, there's the catch . ..

When will we know were you are going next -

ciao

although some of the stuff you go on and on about is sometimes très irritating
sometimes you are right on- which is why I reading, for those little rays of
sunshine you send my way.

this was a good one. I was in New York City in May, for the first time, and was struck
by the quality of music I heard on the streets. My problem wasn't stopping to listen, it was making myself move so that I could take in the city - and yes I gave everyone who played for me some money . . more than pennies

I also stop to smell roses, enjoy beautiful architecture, have conversations with people, take the street food, read the plaques, ask questions . . I do it all FOR ME

Jocelyne commented about USA Citizen Travel to Cuba, On Saturday February 23rd, 2008 06:48:00 PM

I have been to Cuba twice.
Both times met a number of Cuban Americans there visiting family. When I said " I thought Americans couldn't travel to Cuba, they laughed" They told me they flew from Miami, that there were flights everyday. Here's what I have been told, as an American you can travel to Cuba - however, it is illegal for you to spend American money while there - so if your credit cards are issued by American banks - there could be problems - so bring cash - or get a credit card issued my a Canadian bank - that's my ten pesos worth - jocelyne

I am also worried about you. I miss reading your blog, your commentaries are very astute and often cause me to chuckle - I am about to travel in my own country, Canada. I live on the East Coast and will travel on the West Coast for a short time - I will wave at you across the Pacific Ocean, wave back if you see me

Jocelyne commented about Tapioca, On Saturday June 30th, 2007 02:03:00 PM

la bouille is not baby food
in this instance la bouilli de tapioca would be better translated as tapioca porridge - bouille is from bouillir which is french for to boil

tapioca is readily available in North
America - often used to thicken sauces or as stated earlier by someone to make pudding - which of course is made by boiling water to which you add tapioca - hence a bouilli de tapioca
