What your mom said, Andy, is something I have also tried to live my life too. In life, we have the ability to be happy or sad. Mostly when we are not happy, it is because something did not live up to our expectations
Once you realize that we make ourselves unhappy when people or things do not live up to our expectations. We cannot control others, only ourselves.
I know someone who is always unhappy. If she was given a wheel barrow full of money, all she would think and complain that it was too heavy for her to push.
These people get caught up in being unhappy and having unreasonable expectations. Its easy to do.
Whenever I find myself upset about something, I ask myself why and usually the answer is that something did not work out as I had hoped or planned. Once you know that all your unhappiness or happiness is controllable within ourselves, then we can proceed to deal with it and change it from within..we can change how we feel but we canot change others.
Everyone is so different and varied on the outside we too are different also on the inside, how we all process feelings, beliefs, fears, hopes, dreams and desires. Once we learn to control our expections we can better adapt to the world around us.
Andy I have been reading your posts for a few years and enjoy your insight and ability to transcend many cultures and languages. Your insights are refreshing and you are truly a window into our world..a world most of us can never experience.
Keep up the good work..be happy and stay safe.

Andy,
I have to disagree with you. While there may be others who could have just as easily been chosen for the peace prize. ..Obama hold the key to our future in the world as a chance for peace and as a peacemaker.
Upon his inauguration he immediately reached out to end the embargo against Cuba which has ONLY hurt the Cuban people not the government. He has also reached out to other nations to repair the damage done our government over the last decade.
Obama is working to end the invasion began by the Bush Administration and to heal and repair all the damage of our reputation around the world done by the previous administrations.
I am sorry you took this venue to voice your own private poetical views..which have to be a little off base since you are not living in the US right now and only have to read news stories ...such as "Most people object to Obama getting the Peace Prize" which was no more than republican rhetoric leaking into our "trusted" cable news..Most people in American do nothing in total except eventually die. So I also object to the news channels ( all corporately owned by BIG money) taking the opportunity to insert some misleading rhetoric.
You do not need to apologize for Obama, but for our Country which as been the root of so much evil in the world for the last decade. Its not the American people behind the evil..its the rich and powerful who control most of government and money..and who have been siphoning off all the money from the middle class forcing them into poverty by stealing their money out of the banks, stock markets .retirement funds and even through the gas used in their cars.
I love ya Andy..just disagree with your skiltered political views..
