Andy, ever thought about carrying a Kindle or a Sony Reader. You can read everything there - books (purchased online, or downloaded or copied from friends), maps, word file etc. It's very hand and should work well for travel purposes. What do you think?

Andy,
I do not get the whole logic of your post, but Ill start from Richs comment to your post.
More than half of the travelers claim they travel to experience a culture, to see different mindsets, to go off the beaten path, to see local life etc. I dont think these people are hypocritical. The intention is honest and reflects most often curiosity or desire to learn/experience. It is true that most these people dont succeed (even if they imagine so) and they dont even have the inner means to adapt, shift or tolerate others enough to understand them.
But I believe the critical mass of people wanting to experience the others is a positive thing. Can you blame the woman who posted some days ago asking about how to get to some pygmys in Africa? Can you accuse her of ignorance, such as the other guy who posted. That would be superficial.
Blindness and superficiality are part of daily lives of people, both here and there. It is not a travel linked phenomenon. Traveling inevitably leads to information sharing, even if its spread by narrow minded people. It is essentially a good thing for both the visitor and the local, also when it apparently splits their worlds even more.

Btw, Andy. Not sure how much the blog comments weigh, but I imagine they must leave a trace in your mind. I wanted to say I appreciate not just the travel tips and your vivid observations of the places you experience. Im looking forward for more descriptions of feelings and inner musings.
Your psychic has some attributes that swell in different ways than those of your readers. I know youll hate this statement, or find it idiotic, but do aknowledge some people who follow you online and wish to learn more about how mind receives the experience of travelling and continuous musing at real and small things (how to wash a bag, how to keep mosquitos out of your door etc).
Most people are drugged and dont see reality. How does your mind feel to see reality? :)

Andy, but I dont understand why you depend on this money?
As a 10years + traveler, dont you have a security sum stored somewhere, say 500 dollars, that would allow you to cross the border and continue your trip to the next city (in a different country) to the next ATM.
I dont understand this phrase I dont have enough money to leave Ouganda. How is that possible?
