I have also traveled to India and agree that there are places that definitely have sub-standard service. But the above commenters are right that there is the whole gamut in India and if you need great service and are willing to pay for it, it can be found. This is an old post. More and more I am impressed with the Indian computer companies that are springing up everywhere.

You sure have some interesting experiences and have brought back many fond memories of when we traveled through India. We also went to many Ashrams though never that of Mahatma Ghandi --that must have been a treat. Your life experience is quite diverse in reading a lot of these posts, to your credit. Keep up the great work!
