What a beautiful and inspiring post - it makes me want to go look for a ticket for Africa right now, and go on the same adventure youre doing. I have been to Ethiopia and Kenya, and loved it, I agree the people are much more interesting that the animals and the nature. I love your pictures of people and ordinary things because you can see you regular people live every day.

Awesome post and incredibly insightful - this is type of commentary which is truthful and politically incorrect enough which you wont find anywhere else, the girl who couldnt talk to you because she would be perceived as prostitution is very insightful, only could be observed be a professional traveler.
Im not sure about Filipino girls, though, actually I think most of them are actually good, even in the bars most of them seem good. Maybe I am just too naive?

When I visited Nairobi last year, I took bus 34 from downtown to the airport. Of course, the thing breaks down about three miles outside the city. Into a horrible industrial slum area. Im the only white guy for miles, everybody is speaking Swahili and have my backpack and have no idea whats going on and how I will get to my flight on time. Then somebody tells me theyre sending another bus. It came and I arrived without incident. Still arrived about three hours early, I always plan for trouble when going to the airport.
Have fun and be safe in Bangkok - one of my very favorite cities on the planet.

In Mexico, if you walk into a bar, there are salt shakers on every table, or in the really low end joints, they bring you a packet of salt with your beer. I got used to this and now cant drink beer, especially Mexican beer, without pouring lots of salt into it. Very delicious.
This is not customary globally, however. Once in Pattaya, Thailand, I was at a go-go bar and ordered a Corona. It came with a lime but no salt. I asked the waitress to bring me some salt. They never heard this request before, and it took some effort to communicate, but finally they understood. They were able to find a salt shaker and brought it to my table. The dancers saw this and were mystified, they didnt know what I was going to do with this salt shaker, and had never seen anything like it. I quickly became the center of attention in the bar, and suddenly I had 25 dancers standing around my table watching me shake salt into my Corona. Quite the spectacle.

It is not real anyways, I bought it once in Angeles and it was 100 fake. I have taken the real pills all over the world but the ones they sell on the street are fake. The packaging and the actual pills look 100 legitimate, but it is all counterfeit, they are sugar pills with no active ingredients. It is very easy to make counterfeit pills including the packaging. In the Ermita area and also other places you cannot walk down one city block without getting 5 different offers, but it is a rip-off, if you were to try it go to a real pharmacy instead. It is sort of sad that there are so many guys dedicated to selling these.
